  1. Despite his prolific posting, been proven to be incorrect at times.
  2. Ditto for me at LA consulate. Although I went through some different issues. It seems like they are trying to discourage visitors to the Kingdom. At least they were fairly responsive to the issues.
  3. Ask Finlaco he's the backpacking expert. But make sure you only bring $10 and not pay 500bt like a fool.
  4. it makes me laugh when people accuse me of padding the pockets of those Myanmar IO's. Anybody anywhere anytime that uses a visa agent is padding who's pockets?
  5. Finlaco, you make some interesting assumptions. New to Asia? How about 40 years on and off in Thailand. Married 25 years to my Thai wife. Own a home in Chiang Rai. But proud to never been a backpacker. When I make my bounce in a few weeks I'll specifically ask about the $10 but gladly pay 500bt and report back.
  6. I thought the $10 deal ended several years ago (pre covid).. Years ago yes. Made sure I brought a nice crisp new $10 bill from home. But the last few border bounces I did pre covid the Myanmar IO's never mentioned $10 and I just paid the 500bt. Finlaco your homework based on recent personal experience?
  7. Yes. In the past is was very smooth. The Myanmar IO's would even ask if I was going to do a "turn around" or wanted to do some shopping. I almost looked forward to it. My wife loves going for the shopping on Thai side.
  8. Thanks. I assume it's valid, got me in the country in the first place. How does one get an invalid e-visa?
  9. I am currently in Chiang Rai on a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (First entry) I need to do a border bounce in about 2 weeks. I've done this numerous times in the past (pre covid). As I understand Mae Sai is open for business now. True? What concerns me is that I thought I read on some forum that you can't do a border bounce at a land border on a e-visa (mine is an e-visa issued at LA). Anyone heard of this?
  10. Have at least 4 friends in the States that served in the Peace Corps in the 60's and 70's that married Thai girls. So prevalent that the PC in Thailand had a unit just to deal with Thai brides. "Join the Peace Corps find a wife" Not sure that was the case in Uganda or Guatemala!
