  1. Not sure about that. In March doing my application I provided 21 and 22 1040's and 1099-R's. They then asked for my 23 1040. Had to tell them that US citizens don't have to file 1040's till mid April for 2023 (in my case mid June cause certain counties in Calif. got an extension because of earlier flooding). Told them I had 2023 1099-R, which they accepted in lieu of the 1040.
  2. I think it will just go underground and the RTP will get their usual tea money, just like gambling, Massage parlors etc, etc, etc.
  3. Is it just me or have there been more and more articles recently of deranged " cannabis addicts" murdering their families and others. Maybe the media is complicit in this. What happened to yaba? It's going to be hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Lot of money involved but maybe not going into the right pockets.
  4. That's why they are not allowed to fly to USA, There are a lot of sh*t ass airlines that fly to USA but not Thai.
  5. LTR and TM30 I received my final approval today and instructed to schedule my appointment. I have a question for those who have actually gone through the appointment process. Do you have to provide a TM30? I asked BOI but don't think they quite understood me. They just responded with the general requirements for a TM30. I have been coming and staying in Thailand (for various lengths of time) for the last 25 years. Stay at my house (owned by my wife). I have never done a TM30 and never asked for one. In fact never heard of it until just a few years ago. Haven't done one on this trip. So anyone who has had their appointment, did you need the TM30? I have been in Thailand for almost a week. Can I still get one if necessary. Was thinking of getting one as soon as the LTR received. Very much appreciate anyones personal experiences.
  6. Almost exactly my experience. 3 weeks for approval. They won't give you an appointment (final step) until you're in Thailand and can show them your arrival stamps. Arrived 4 days ago and waiting for my appointment. Had a few minor issues (easily overcome) but overall can't say enough about how helpful the BOI staff was. Every question was responded to in hours if not minutes. LTR, I call it the Thai "Green Card",
  7. What a memory. First flight on 747 54 years ago. 1970 first (or second) year it was in service, Dozens since. RIP
  8. I submitted 2 years (21 & 22) of both 1040 and 1099-R. Both years showing clear compliance with LTR requirements. They then came back and asked for my 23 1040 (this was Mar 24). I had to explain to them that US citizens don't have to file 1040's until Apr. Luckily I did have a 23 1099-R which they were satisfied with.
  9. A lot of interesting questions. I think you are asking the wrong crowd. I suggest you direct your questions to BOI. They were responsive to my questions. Approved for my appointment (final step) two weeks ago. Now just have to get back to Thailand.
  10. Don't know about recently, but back in the day (way back), Penang was the place to go.
  11. Following this story one thing puzzles me (one?). One of the issues they are going after him is the "illegal" staircase to the beach. In fact I think they have already ordered him to destroy it. Yet throughout the story they describe him as a renter. Wouldn't the owner be responsible?
  12. Exactly. Leukemia is a cancer, probably pre existing not an emergency.
  13. The only thing consistent between Thai embassies/consulates and immigration offices is their inconsistencies.
  14. I guess when I was filling out the application it automatically down loaded the declaration form but I didn't know it. When they instructed me to upload the declaration form I thought what declaration form? I accidentally found the download, luckily soon and separately uploaded it.
  15. What email are you using? I found out that the main email for the consulate they are totally unresponsive (don't remember right now but could find it) There is another email for the visa section which I used for the application. They were responsive but still had some issues. Never tried calling, think I knew better.
  16. I believe the "declaration" form is downloaded for you to sign and resend to them. But don't quote me. I had a go around with them earlier this year for a METV. But they were responsive and kept in contact. For me good and not so good experience with them.
  17. Thanks Lorry. Your 3rd paragraph is the only one relevant to my stupid question. I only mentioned transfers from my personal foreign account to my personal Thai account not 3rd party transfers.
