BOI LTR important to maintain qualifications
sabaiguy replied to Presnock's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Now I get it. MAG is pissed cause he couldn't meet the health insurance requirements. -
Hope you didn't take offense. Just f*****g with you . I won't be a "Wealthy Pensioner" until next week when I have my appointment. I have 4 AC's so understand your concerns. In my corner of Thailand (Chiang Rai) don't see a lot of home solar panels. A lot of mini-solar powering for outdoor lighting etc.

By what date must I use my approved LTR Visa?
sabaiguy replied to jcates29's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You're not familiar with the LTR Visa are you. Permission to stay is actually 5 years, with extension 10 years. -
Not sure about that. In March doing my application I provided 21 and 22 1040's and 1099-R's. They then asked for my 23 1040. Had to tell them that US citizens don't have to file 1040's till mid April for 2023 (in my case mid June cause certain counties in Calif. got an extension because of earlier flooding). Told them I had 2023 1099-R, which they accepted in lieu of the 1040.

Thailand's Cabinet Reshuffle Fuels Possibility for Marijuana Reform
sabaiguy replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Is it just me or have there been more and more articles recently of deranged " cannabis addicts" murdering their families and others. Maybe the media is complicit in this. What happened to yaba? It's going to be hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Lot of money involved but maybe not going into the right pockets. -
Thai Airways Faces Backlash Over Business-Class Seat Fiasco

That's why they are not allowed to fly to USA, There are a lot of sh*t ass airlines that fly to USA but not Thai. -
LTR and TM30 I received my final approval today and instructed to schedule my appointment. I have a question for those who have actually gone through the appointment process. Do you have to provide a TM30? I asked BOI but don't think they quite understood me. They just responded with the general requirements for a TM30. I have been coming and staying in Thailand (for various lengths of time) for the last 25 years. Stay at my house (owned by my wife). I have never done a TM30 and never asked for one. In fact never heard of it until just a few years ago. Haven't done one on this trip. So anyone who has had their appointment, did you need the TM30? I have been in Thailand for almost a week. Can I still get one if necessary. Was thinking of getting one as soon as the LTR received. Very much appreciate anyones personal experiences.

The absurdity of the LTR handling
sabaiguy replied to SingAPorn's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Almost exactly my experience. 3 weeks for approval. They won't give you an appointment (final step) until you're in Thailand and can show them your arrival stamps. Arrived 4 days ago and waiting for my appointment. Had a few minor issues (easily overcome) but overall can't say enough about how helpful the BOI staff was. Every question was responded to in hours if not minutes. LTR, I call it the Thai "Green Card", -

6 month multiple entry tourist visa options
sabaiguy replied to qwab32's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Correct. No 60 day Multiple Entry. -
I submitted 2 years (21 & 22) of both 1040 and 1099-R. Both years showing clear compliance with LTR requirements. They then came back and asked for my 23 1040 (this was Mar 24). I had to explain to them that US citizens don't have to file 1040's until Apr. Luckily I did have a 23 1099-R which they were satisfied with.
