Gaza was not destitute. The corruption and dishonesty of its people has always held it back. Why do you think senior leaders of Hamas funded their luxurious villas in Gaza, Turkiye and Beirut? And yes, martyrdom is of more value than life. A martyr is promised heaven and immediate gratification. The religion and culture teaches that death is enjoyable if achieved through jihad. If the children are so valued why are they used as combatants, and why are they used to move munitions and weapons? And why are they recruited to carry bombs? And for the sake of background, what was your previous identity or other identities in AN?

Prior to this event when the marine no go zones were implemented, the arab fishing boats sometimes exploded or caught fire when improperly stored munitions detonated. The vessels were used to transport missile components and fuel. -
It is not just the GBP. The USD is down against most world currencies. The USD started falling with the announcement of tariffs. The on again, off again, on again inconsistencies and the lack of actual signed trade deals have created a problem for the US economy. Have a look at the WISE chart https://wise.com/gb/currency-converter/usd-to-all-rate/chart

Pandering to the Chinese, Russian and Arab tourist markets, where smoking rates are still high. Yes Germany and Japan still have smoking rooms. The PM is going against the Thai MoH and ignoring the reason why the smoking areas were removed. (They were poorly vented, dirty and facilitated an unhealthy behavior. Too many Chinese were spitting into the garbage can or on the floor.Staff did not want to work as cleaners because the air was so bad.) There is no need for a smoking room at BKK. There should be a smoking area at the terminal outside. People can smoke before or after a flight in the designated outside area.

HIV is not benign. It is a chronic disease and the complications that arise as one ages are serious and life altering, In Thailand, many people transition to AIDs because they do not have access to the medical care and support needed to keep it from transitioning. The disease is not blown out of proportion. I wish this on no one. People who downplay the risks are the reason why the disease still exists in large numbers.

Will Trump bankrupt the US entirely?

The Center for Budget and Policy priorities analysis led it to conclude that under the budget, the average family earning less than $50,000 would get under $300 in tax cuts in 2027, less than $1 a day, while the average tax filer earning $1 million or more a year would receive about $90,000 in tax breaks. It is not an equitable tax reduction. The super wealthy who make 20X the poor American family, but will receive 300X the reduction. Do the super wealthy really merit that size a reduction? https://www.cbpp.org/research/federal-tax/by-the-numbers-house-republican-tax-agenda-favors-the-wealthy-and-leaves It is easy to blame Democrats, but the reality is that the U.S. “fiscal gap”—how much taxes need to be raised or spending cut to keep public debt stable as a share of gross domestic product—was entirely created by the Republican tax cuts of 2001, 2003, and 2017. Worse still is the MAGA insistence on gutting the IRS and reducing enforcement actions. The “tax gap”—the amount of taxes owed but not paid each year—is currently larger than the overall fiscal gap. It is driven by the richest U.S. households and businesses cheating the law and underpaying taxes. https://www.epi.org/publication/tcja-extensions-2025/ If everyone paid what they owed, much of the budget deficit would be eliminated. -

It is all in the approach. The Democrats are reluctant to support a freeze as long as the very wealthy are receiving large tax reductions. The fiscal conservative group within the GOP are not advocating for wealthy tax cuts. There are Democrats who are willing to work with Republicans (just as there are Republicans willing to work with Democrats) to get a responsible budget done. The problem that arises is that as soon as anyone talks about keeping some taxes, they get called a commie, and if someone suggests closing a redundant military base they are labeled anti American. -
Lovely propaganda. Would you have written that she was a miserable person who mistreated patients if she had? Everyone is a hero and a saint according to you. It is fantastic that she went to work at the Nasser medical complex. According to the WHO and Hamas health authority, as of February 2024, the hospital could no longer serve its patients, and was no longer functional. It in effect meant that the facility closed down. What did not close down was its use as a Hamas meeting and command point. Down in its basement, were secured spaces for Hamas use. Please do not deny this as Hamas set up its command and control centers in the basements of hospitals and this was shown when Israel took control of several facilities and searched the basements. The documentation has been shared with the world. You are also ignoring the fact that the location that was hit was involved in a fire fight with the IDF. The IDF was returning fire. No one is denying that this is a sad and regrettable event. However, all your kind words are empty because they ignore the fact the dwelling was located in a declared combat zone and was to be evacuated. The dead man knew that there was a risk of combat and made the choice to use the dwelling.

No that's you. The fact is that Trump has control of the budget, not Biden. It is Trump who is cutting taxes for the super wealthy and it is Trump who is increasing spending without offsets. -

How about not increasing spending, a 2 year freeze, even on social benefits.. Simplifying the tax code, by eliminating loopholes and convoluted deduction schemes. Making tax evaders pay .Making the people and companies who cost society hundreds of millions of dollars in damages pay for their actions, whether it is fraud, or pollution or deficient operations. Ensuring a minimum tax on earnings of the super wealthy. Canceling all planned tax reductions for those who earn more than $75,000. Charging more realistic user fees for non essential services. Elimination of non essential travel subsidies, like supporting airports with little or no essential commercial traffic. Close redundant military bases and depots . There are locations that were identified as not needed that the Pentagon wanted closed, but was prevented from doing so by Congress. Stop funding of all non critical infrastructure projects like bridges and roads to "nowhere". A temporary suspension of all non essential foreign aid, including a significant portion of foreign military aid. No more earmarking of bills to add on spending. Spending should only be addressed in budget related legislation. -

Biden is not in office. Trump is. Biden is not creating the massive deficit in the Trump budget. Trump is doing that. -
Malnutrition and starvation? The people looting the trucks certainly have tremendous pep and strength to do that. Why is it in all of the videos coming out of Gaza we do not see emaciated and starving people? How is it that there are still very fat women abkle to cry and wail as soon as the cameras are on? If you want to see what starvation and malnutrition is, please look at the images from the Darfur where hundreds of thousands of black africans have been suffering at the hand of muslim militias.

Yes, it is reported, but not the actual circumstances. Very few if any media outlets are providing context or full detail. The event is presented as an a random bombing of a house, which it was not. Was there not an ongoing firefight with the IDF at the time of the explosion, and in an area that the IDf had declared a combat evacuation zone? And was the area not struck, a location from which firing of weapons against the IDF observed? The airstrike was called in to neutralize the hostile fire. The dead are the unfortunate result of a Hamas or other combatant fire fight with the IDF. Perhaps Hamas should not hide in residential buildings and should not bring large amounts of ammunition with them when they do.

Yes, the USA has some decent wine. The thing is, its industry relies on exports. US$2 billion+ to the EU and Canada. The EU certainly doesn't need California wine, and the current Canadian boycott of US imports has hurt the industry. -

8 trillion is not tax revenues. It is possible spending is it not? One does not gain tax revenue from a pledge to do something.. The deficit is happening now. Reduce the taxes when the replacement revenue is available. Let's say, a promised factory does appear. It will not be generating tax revenue for several years, and even then, it may be a zero sum result because of the city, county, state and federal subsidies, grants and tax waivers given to attract the facility. The only solution to the US deficit crisis is to reduce spending and to maintain tax revenues. Why not try with a balanced budget first. Why is it so difficult to live within one's means. We all have to do it. A government should too. -
No. You are blaming everyone, other than accepting responsibility for the deficiency. It is the electorate who set the rules. It is the electorate who put the MPs in office. It is easier to pint a finger at the judiciary and the police than to accept that the impediment to immigration reform are the people themselves. How often do we see a violent migrant take refuge in a Church and some group to claim that there is a right of sanctuary? (There is none). How often did we see idiots block removal efforts of violent offenders? The people doing the blocking were never held accountable by friends or family or the public. Instead they were more likely to be celebrated as heroes. How does some of the UK public have a moral right to complain when it returns MPs like Sarah Owen, the Labour MP for Luton North who offers the bankrupt position that the best way to avoid the UK becoming an “island of strangers” is to invest in communities so that they thrived. Or, Nadia Whittome, the Labour MP for Nottingham East, who claims that “Migrants are our neighbours, friends and family. To suggest that Britain risks becoming ‘an island of strangers’ because of immigration mimics the scaremongering of the far right.” The UK votes in MPs like that, who determine government policy. It is up to the UK voters to vote in MPs who have a different position.

According to our friends at Google, PhD graduates have completed advanced studies that include specialties that include; dynamic meteorology, atmospheric physics, and statistical methods in meteorology. They spend 4 years or more obtaining in-depth knowledge and skills to analyze weather patterns, predict climate changes, and conduct research on various atmospheric phenomena. A PhD student will have engaged in rigorous research, often focusing on specific areas within the field, such as climate modeling, weather forecasting techniques, or atmospheric chemistry. There are multiple universities around the world that offer a doctorate in meteorology. As this 22 year old is USA based, he has options in the USA. The faculties that offer doctorates in meteorology have not been accused of political bias and their students implicated in campus unrest. The people causing trouble at universities like Columbia were often not students, and those that were, typically came from the arts faculties. Few if any came from the natural science faculties. However, if you are that concerned, there are universities not known for political activity; -University of Wisconsin-Madison: Offers Ph.D. programs in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. -University of Utah: Offers Ph.D. programs in Meteorology. -Penn State University: Offers Ph.D. programs in Meteorology and Atmospheric Scienc -Cornell University: Offers Ph.D. programs in Atmospheric Science. -University of Arizona: Offers Ph.D. programs in Atmospheric Sciences. There are no known or alleged misdeeds associated with the peer review process at the principal meteorology speciaty journals. If you are aware, please do share. AN thrives on conspiracy claims , both real and imagined.

Will Trump bankrupt the US entirely?
Patong2021 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
The sad reality is that the USA has a dangerous amount of debt. The only way to control and to reduce debt is to reduce spending and/or to collect more revenue. The Trump budget increases spending and reduces tax revenues. The budget deficit will increase again. Pointing a finger at Biden, or Reagan or other presidents (except Clinton, who tamed his deficit) deflects from the immediate crisis. Trump has an opportunity to effect a responsible budget and has chosen not to do so. The Republicans who are calling for restraint are being ignored and threatened with primaries. It is not right wing, nor extremist to ask for fiscal restraint and responsibility. The people of the USA have been transformed from a people of nation dreaming and big dreams to a nation of instant gratification and short term thinking. They refuse to accept that spending must be reduced, and that taxes for the very wealthy should not be reduced. The spending cuts will mostly impact the poor and vulnerable, and the tax reductions will mostly benefit the very wealthy, and yet, the US public is okay with that. We are watching the decline of the USA, and if there is not an immediate and significant shift in fiscal policy, the end of the USA as a leading world economic power. -
You offer your feigned indignation based upon a claim circulated by Hamas. Who was he helping? Hamas personnel? What were the circumstances of the alleged Israeli bombing? Was the family situated at a military facility occupied or used by Islamic Jihad and others? Alleged bombing because a large number of Gaza's injuries ocur when missiles or rockets misfire, or when ammunition storage areas detonate. Not many facts were provided in the story, but it serves as an excuse to demonstrate support for the cause of Hamas n'est ce pas?

Have you considered taking a course in basic government? The laws are enacted by Parliament, not the civil service, not the judiciary and not the police. The judiciary applies the laws as they were written. it has no other option. The police apply the laws as they were written and as they are directed by the elected government. The voters elect the Members of Parliament and the ruling government who determine which laws to enact. Therefore, the responsibility for the mess that the UK is in now rests entirely with the voters. 35% of the population can't be bothered to vote, which says that they don't care. Anytime a UK government has attempted to stop the madness arising from the influx of bogus refugees and economic migrants it has been stymied, blocked and sabotaged, by political parties like Labour, by labour unions, by some organized religious groups and by the people of the UK itself. Remember when the last UK government tried to remove bogus refugees and criminals by air, and passengers on the flights protested the removal? It is a cop out to blame everyone but the UK public for the mess.
