Commanders Face Heat Over Army Conscript Abuse Scandal
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Utter nonsense? When was the last time you worked or had any direct relationship with the Thai military? You are offering talking points that are nothing but hot air. The military of countries like Thailand are not and have never been "hight tech". Even the Israeli military is not all high tech. Much of its activity still relies on boots on the ground, eyes on the terrain and direct intervention. You think the Canadian, Dutch German and other industrialized nations militares offer high tech training to their basic recruits and general ranks? You don't need high tech for driving a truck or repairing equipment or loading ordinance. Not everyone is going to fly a drone. Thailand is a nation with its own unique characteristics. The Thai military is a socialization tool. It takes rural people and introduces them to urban people and they are taught how to get along. It is the most effective teaching organization in the nation. Talk to some of the NCOs and military veterans and see if they share your opinion. Yes, there is bloat and yes there is corruption. However, your imposing the great white man's ideaology isn't going to solve it. -

Costa Rica is not comparable in any way, shape or form with Thailand. Bangkok has 2X the population of Costa Rica. -
Commanders Face Heat Over Army Conscript Abuse Scandal

How many people volunteered in the last year? The military is used for building social cohesion and for teaching some basic skills like hygiene. My best friend was an NCO and had to teach some recruits how to properly wash themselves. Others were taught skills like how to a sew button, how to do basic truck servicing, first aid and proper nutrition. Gun safety is taught. The army acts as a first responder service when there are catastrophes. Thailand has enemies. What do you think the exchange of gunfire at the Myanmar border has been? -

Did you not read the article? It is in respect to the abuse these conscripts suffer at the hands of sick corrupt misfits. Conscripts are not there to serve as personal servants. This issue has been raised multiple times and is still not resolved. As for your comment about discipline, no one argues against it but discipline for too many is abusive. -
World stock markets plunge again as Trump doubles down on tariffs
Patong2021 replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
A good business strategist would have addressed the tariff concerns by breaking it down on a country grouping instead of taking everyone on at the same time and causing economic harm. There are some countries /regions that were easily addressed and others who were more difficult. Canada/Mexico trade could have been handled much better and been used as a model for other negotiations. Get a grip. Why add Israel to that group? Israel got hit with tariffs too. The difference between Israel and some others is that it has been working on the issue for some time. Argentina and some central american nations started before Israel. Navarro isn't long term. Trump likes Navarro's approach because it offers the promise of a quick fix. Monday's rally proved that wrong. Companies like Apple who rely on China are in trouble. Not exactly. 16 are already paid for and cannot be cancelled. The real motive behind the pause is the budget deficit and the cost of the F35. The RCAF fleet cannot go any longer without immediate replacement, Over 1/2 can not fly now. The need for new aircraft is urgent and the RCAF cannot have 2 fleets for such a small number of aircraft. -
Warning on Driving in Japan with a Thai License
Patong2021 replied to pj123's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
That's nice, but it seems that you have misread the Drive Japan information. The information is not about driving in Australia, but is specific for Japan. These are the requirements for Japan, not Australia. Yes, Australia is its own continent, but I expect for the Niconico car rental firm of Japan, it classified Australia as part of its Asian customer market. Geographically incorrect ,but a rather good reflection of Australian trade policy which integrates Australia into Asia. -
Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs
Patong2021 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I don't like Thailand's tariffs any more than most consumers but I do understand why they are there. Ford and other manufacturers would not have invested in Thailand without market protection to help them get established. and expand. Ford states; Ford Thailand is the center of production, distribution, sales and servicing of Ford brand vehicles in ASEAN region. Ford is one of the largest automotive investors in Thailand, with cumulative investments totaling more than $3.4 billion (approx. THB 100 billion). Ford’s integrated business operations in Thailand include vehicle manufacturing and assembly, marketing, sales and customer services. Ford’s wholly-owned and joint-venture operations in Thailand currently employ around 9,000 people. In 2022, Thailand became the regional headquarter for Ford IMG. Ford’s retail growth and success in Thailand is being driven by the segment-defining Ranger pickup truck and the mid-size Everest SUV, or PPV, as the segment is referred to in Thailand. These two vehicles have helped Ford maintain its strong presence and expand its customer base in the Thai market. The Company is supporting its continued retail growth in Thailand with an ongoing expansion of its Ford dealer network, which includes 180 locations nationwide. To date, Ford is one of the largest automotive investors in Thailand, with cumulative investments totaling more than $3.4 billion since 1995. Since 2007, Ford has invested more than $1.7 billion to expand one of its key global production and export hubs. -
Thailand Urged to Form ‘War Room’ in Response to US Tariffs
Patong2021 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Your logic holds that no vehicles are built in Germany or Japan or the USA either. Yes, components are sourced from other countries. However, Thailand produces most automobile components. The vehicles built in Thailand are for the local market, and the vehicles exported from Ford Thailand are mostly for the Asian market. The Ford Rayong plant and other parts manufacturers supply parts to other Ford plants worldwide. Your premise that the USA can force Thailand to purchase vehicles that no one wants is ridiculous. You are so intent on trying to to prove an irrational claim that now you are ignoring the very nature of atomobile production. -
Someone like you.

Have you tried a Vitamin A enema? According to the self designated health experts of Asean Now, it will rid you of the condition you describe. Your syndrome was most likely caused by a conspiracy of big pharma. Those were not tattoo needles, but vaccine doses being stuck in you. That's why you are ill.

It is quite obvious that you don't read. I did not write that jomtien Beach is a sketchy crime magnet zone. I acknowledged the comment of this person; Are you saying that the above information is inaccurate and that the area where the event occurred is a safe area at night and can be relied upon to attract the fine upstanding citizens of the area? Drinking on the street, leaving bottles lying about, dressed like they live on handouts, and brawling is hardly the sign of a safe and quality area. The fact is that no one really cares. They could get run over in the next hour and they would be forgotten about by the next day. No one is going to lose sleep over them as they will sort themselves out either through violent deaths or lifestyle diseases. -

We do not know the lead up, so shouldn't rush to condemn. Anyway, does anyone really care? They look like lowlifes and they are in a sketchy crime magnet zone. This is how they live. If they survive and are sober the next day, they forget about it and move on to the next scummy event. There are more important things to be concerned about. -
Iran Withdraws Support from Houthis Amid Intensified US Airstrikes
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The trap is actually the hole you dug for yourself when you made the false claim that Israel has a hold on the USA. There is no hold. You ignore the fact that Iran has tried to kill Trump multiple times. The last time Iranian officials asked Farhad Shakeri, 51, last September to assassinate Trump. Shakeri is still at large in Iran, according to the US Justice Department. Last summer the US Justice Department charged a Pakistani Asif Merchant, with alleged ties to the Iranian government ,with seeking to carry out political assassinations against Trump and government officials. It was the Biden administration that brought the charges on both cases, so this isn't an imaginary claim by Trump. There have been other plots. Iran is the mmain instigator of international terrorism. Hundreds of thousands of Syrians are dead because of Iran and its proxy army Hezbollah. And yet here you come to blame Israel. Why not be honest and just come out and say that you you hate jews and/or Israel? It is more efficient. Trump has consistently been trying to avoid conflict in the region and with Iran. It's not Trump who is promoting jihad. -
Iran Withdraws Support from Houthis Amid Intensified US Airstrikes
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Ahh yes, the blame Israel card. Thing is, Israel had nothing to do with Yemen. It was a conflict between Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Shiite vs. Sunni and Sunni affiliates. Russia is backing Yemen and Iran in large part because it wants to manipulate oil prices. Much of the world's oil supply travels the Persian Gulf through the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean to go to Asia, also through the the Gulf of Aden to pass through the Suez Canal to reach Europe. Keep oil prices up and it benefits Russian oil and gas sales. Destabilize the. Gulf states and the KSA and it protects Russian oil and gas prices. -
My recommendation for improving children's health would be to keep you and your ignorant claims away from them.
