Palisades Fire in LA has zero containment
Patong2021 replied to John Drake's topic in Political Soapbox
Surplus equipment that was replaced by more efficient and more effective apparatus. What's your issue? Would youlike the state tokeep obsolete equipment that can't do the job as effectively as the new equipment that requires fewer personnel to operate? It is called an effective use of resources. -
Let's make it about you then. What are you wearing today? What did you eat today. When you have a bowel movement do you use a spray gun or toilet tissue or a combination? Do you ever frequent Thai beer bars and have carnal relations with the workers? Have you ever had relations with a Kathoey? Do you ever ride a sangthaew? Do you ever make fun of other farangs to their face? Do you sometimes peee in the ocean? What's your favourite Thai meal? Do you like Ketchup? Do you ever eat hotdogs? Do you eat white bread? Do youe consume Kewpie products? Do you use palm oil? Do ladies ever call you hansum and ask to make boom boom with you? Ever seen a Thai ping pong show?

Aneurysm, stroke, Sudden cardiac death, and many others. I give him credit for trying to have been present in his son's life, but now that child is going to be a defacto orphan. Let that be a lesson to the geriatric crowd here who procreate after age 45. You most likely won't be around when your child needs you the most. Don't make babies if you can't be a good father and be there when your child needs you. Being a good father never stops no matter the age.

You are speaking as an elderly white bigoted male who is clueless to what people under the age of 40 believe. The "French" have no control over Canadian politics, except in their capacity as being a sizeable ethnic population in some regions. The "French" cannot elect the provincial or territorial governments in 12 of 13 jurisdictions. Nor do they have the votes to form a national government. As per the recent minority government representing a majority of the electorate, that government was a Liberal government dominated by Ontario seats and kept in power by the NDP. Yes, Quebec speaks out. It was the reason why the federal government finally reduced the number of temporary Canadians allowed in. It was Quebec that highlighted the problem of the swollen refugee numbers and it was Quebec that built the coalition with Ontario to change the refugee numbers allowed in. To date, the only people who seem to have bene taking a stand to defend the Canadian identity were the "French". The Western governments and BC certainly were not vocal on the issue. -

I believe that the Homepro staff stalking is an import of practice from USA/Canada at some of the home furnishing retailers. The staff are compensated in large part by commission. They get berated if they have poor sales results. The bow and flowers on the vehicle is an attempt to copy the Chinese , Korean and Japanese sales custom, except the Japanese are far more classy about it. As for the mobilephone sales, they do that because some consumers who have buyers remorse will come back and claim the phone is not working or accessories were missing. Some consumers do not read instructions or are not able to do so and require assistance to turn on a phone. This is also SOP at western retailers -
Trump Urges NATO Allies to Dramatically Boost Defense Spending to 5%
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Not exactly The Biden administration had a 1% budget increase in the military budget. The cost constraints were the result of a bipartisan effort to control spending increases that increased the federal deficit because of the previous Trump tax reductions for the wealthy. The Department of Energy nuclear energy budget took one of the largest reductions as part of the defense cost controls. Conventional military was relatively untouched. -

That is an unsubstantiated claim. You can bring the evidence. She carried out her duties as a Congressional Representative. -

I doubt that most US voters voted for Trump because they wanted to see him harass Dr. Fauci or to carry on a vendetta against patriot Liz Cheney who put the US Constitution first. The continuation of the Trump vendetta will lead to his downfall. I suggest you look at the results of the recent state open seats election in Virginia. A day after Trump's election was certified, the Democrats held the seats despite the shift to Trump and now control the state house and state senate. You will be seeing a lot more results like that as US voters return to wanting a system of checks and balances that force bipartisan actions. -
If UK citizens want action takenon these convicted sex crimes offenders, and even on the bogus refugees, they must understand and agree that there will be a reduction of their own civil liberties and protections guaranteed under the judicial system. The accused have successfully argued against deportation using various human rights statutes and due process rules. It is impossible to carve out an exception for such cases. It is an all or nothing scenario. This is why so many groups, who one would expect to be on the side of the victims, have supported these evil criminals and other law breakers. The same laws that protect the rapists also protect the UK people from stop and search or detention without charge etc. Make up your minds and follow through. And no, I don't make up the. legal interpretations. That's what the judicial experts, and judges have stated.

When you have experience of managing corporate litigation and experience with derivative class action suits, you can come back and be dismissive. The fact of the matter is that 3 of the 5 most common D&O litigation actions are what I referenced. Your position is that Zuckerberg as a majority shareholder has absolute control of Meta and can do as he wishes. The reality is that Zuckerberg does not and is subject to a board that must approve all of his grand initiatives. The board also includes independent directors. There are 18+ major lawsuits ongoing against Meta, some of them involve regulatory agencies in different jurisdictions that will have an impact on Meta operations. My original point is that any number of the major minority investors can block Zuckerberg if they can show his actions will harm them as per the reasons listed above. You disagree, Fine. Tell me what is factually incorrect. I suspect that you just don't like me pointing out that Zuckerberg is not some diabolical evil man operating in isolation and doing as he pleases. He is either enabled or blocked by the Meta board. You people always have to push some deranged claim of conspiracy or subversive world plot.

Yes, on paper Mark Zuckerberg's voting power in Meta Platforms (Facebook) is 56.9%. And yes, he has influence. However, the USA has three popular types of litigation that interfere with Zuckerberg's grand designs; 1. Oppression Remedies and request for relief: These include actions arising from allegations of of fraud, or unfairness, or illegitimacy. These actions relate to claims by minority shareholders where the majority shareholder(s); -redirected the company’s net profits to their own advantage - took actions that diluted shares - denied access to information or restricted or blocked minority participation - made unfair dividend distribution 2. Derivative action litigation where minority shareholders will file a lawsuit against the majority shareholder(s) alleging management wrong doing or breach of fiduciary duty. 3. Employees who have a retirement plan that includes shares or deferred profit sharing can file fiduciary liability actions. And the fact is, the minority shareholders have been making Zuckerberg's life difficult. For example; - Nov 22, 2024: US Supreme Court allows shareholder lawsuit against Facebook to go forward. The lawsuit was brought by investors who claim they were misled by the social media giant about risks from a massive data breach. The suit was brought by investors, led by Amalgamated Bank, after Facebook’s stock price plunged in 2018 following news that the Republican-aligned political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica had improperly obtained the personal information of 30 million Facebook users. -22 Oct. 2022: Shareholder Lawsuit Charges Meta Platforms with Prioritizing Profits over Shareholders, Class action on behalf of diversified shareholders says insiders willfully ignored costs the Company imposes on society and diversified investors to boost traffic on its platform and generate more ad revenue.

It is not acceptable. On the contrary, it is offensive, as is any other vulgar insult based on someone's heritage. And no, the vast majority of males in western Canada do not use that term. Maybe bigoted ignorant old white men do, but young people do not. Western Canadians are not the right wing extremists of the 1970's. Your out of date mindset suggests you probably come from one of the inland small towns like Kamloops where the old folks panic when they see a "darkie". -

Palisades Fire in LA has zero containment

Another example of unreasonable expectations and a demand for instantaneous response. Doing his job as Governor. Perhaps you will be better served by reading the Governor's updates rather than asking on a Thai forum. https://www.gov.ca.gov/2025/01/07/governor-newsom-proclaims-state-of-emergency-meets-with-first-responders-in-pacific-palisades-amid-dangerous-fire-weather/ The Governor is in the emergency Response Center receiving updates from Cal Fire and the Fire control specialists, He rightfully is not directing the fire containment efforts because the fire fighting professionals are. In case you missed it, the Santa Anna winds are ferocious this year and southern California is still in a drought. https://droughtmonitor.unl.edu/CurrentMap/StateDroughtMonitor.aspx?CA The agricultural sector still demands excessive amounts of water, and has abused the available aquifer. The general public insists on wasting water. Easy to blame goverment, but people are unreasonable and selfish. How does a state governor fill a reservoir when there is inadequate water resources to draw upon? The state has been trying to reduce water consumption for years. What's the public response? No, we won''t accept it and we'll sue. The farmers insisted on planting crops not suitable for California such as almonds and pistachios which consume far too much water. When the state tries to have controlled burns, people protest and file injunctions. The mayor left before the fires started and was on on her way back once the severity of the fires became evident. There are municipal, county and state officials who have the responsibility for managing events like this who are also involved. In any case, she has either returned or is in transit. It takes 2 days+ to get back from Ghana. The people making a scene over her absence have a political interest in doing so and have ignored the fact that she has been in contact with her office and is involved in the city's response.. She was part of the Presidential delegation and has a longstanding relationship to Ghana. As a congresswoman, Bass chaired the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations from 2019-22. -

Much if not all of the vape products available in Thailand are unsupervised and unregulated: No one knows for sure what is in the products often produced by questionable facilities.. Propylene glycol and glycerol often feature. Formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and acrolein, known carcinogenics, also feature. We also know that vape products rely on; -Nicotine, a highly addictive chemical that can harm adolescent brain development. - Can contain unsafe levels of heavy metals such as nickel, tin, and lead. - Silica and other particles that can be inhaled deep into the lungs. - VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) It truly puzzles me how some foreigners will extol the virtues and "safety" of vaping without any knowledge of the ingredients contained in the product being ingested. https://hub.jhu.edu/2021/10/07/vaping-unknown-chemicals/ In respect to the purported less harmful effect of vaping compared to tobacco, those statements have since been walked back or retracted by health authorities. Sure, vaping appears to be less harmful than smoking. However,it still presents a health risk for developing bodies. -

They are in a no win position. A violent event like this requires a response from armed intervention officers. Constable Plod is not going to do much with his/her baton and it is not as if that mob will listen to 1 or 2 solitary constables. If the police are seen on patrol with sidearms the people will complain about heavy handedness etc. Really, one should be asking why this is now normal behavior and accepted as normal. The failure is with the UK population who have gone feral. -

The low cost electronics are often made using recycled parts from discarded equipment. There is also a high risk of the equipment being infected with spyware. Look at this from the perspective of a criminal. You want access to people's information or their electronics from which you can engage in cloaked criminal activity, e.g. hijacking the equipement to access others. If it is too good to be true, walk away, especially from the Chinese manufactured brands. Neeed an illustration? Look at how Israel infiltrated the Hezbollah pager and laptops by offering what appeared to be legitimate equipment. It was, but included special spyware in addition to IED. It was a long term operation that delivered. The equipment was sold at a financial loss. -
Why the hostility? If he didn't do this, many of the critics here would be attacking Meta for not changing. Meta is a public company owned by its shareholders. Zuckerburg is puppet and does not control Meta. On the contrary, anyone who has a mutual fund participation through the largest mutual funds in the USA has control. It only takes 2 of the mutual funds to out vote the spineless Zuckerburg. The largest shareholders include Vanguard Group Inc, BlackRock, Inc., Fmr Llc, State Street Corp, VTSMX - Vanguard Total Stock Market Index Fund Investor Shares, VFINX - Vanguard 500 Index Fund Investor Shares, Jpmorgan Chase & Co, Geode Capital Management, Llc, Price T Rowe Associates Inc /md/, and FCNTX - Fidelity Management has a legal obligation to manage the company to legally maximize the financial return for the shareholders. A failure to do is a breach of fiduciary duty by the board members and they are liable in the event of a successful shareholder action. Instead of attacking Zuckerburg, why not criticize the board? Quite a collection of people far worse than Zuckerburg. - John Elkann is CEO of Exor, one of the largest European investment companies, controlled by the Agnelli family. And yet the Liberal government obtained a national mandate as the result of 3 general elections. Apparently, you are not much one for the electoral process. You give a nice list of despots, but there are also many leaders who have been in office through legitimate means. What's your point? Margaret Thatcher - 11 3/4 years Winston Churchill - 9 years Franklin Roosevelt - 12 years William Pitt the Yonger - 18 years Wiliam Galdstone - 12 1/3 years George Washington - 16 years ; 8 years as military leader and defacto national leader + 8 years as President -

You obviously cannot provide a rational basis upon which to make your claim. Why not just be honest and state that you hate Israel and do not accept hits right toexist, nor the fact that Judea has been around since long before anyone invented the Palestinian state.
