  1. It was not about telling Trump he was not welcome. It was about timing. Starmer was too concerned about a need for a positive headline. It is understandable why Carney would have little patience for the opportunistic Starmer. Carney is a restrained banker who thinks out financial policy, while Starmer and friends do not. Rachel from accounting has buggered up the economy, and now Starmer is in panic mode over the migrant crisis. It is also about arrogance and the condescending attitude that the English ruling cadres have. Both left and right have lost the plot in the UK. The UK is ungrateful and has a short memory. It owes the fact that it did not collapse during WWII mostly to Canada. Unlike the USA, it was Canada that provided the initial large aid package without strings attached. There was a $1 billion grant to Britain, along with a $700 million interest-free loan in 1942 that kept the country alive. Long before the USA offered any assistance, Canada was helping and putting its lives at risk. Almost all of the foreign aid arriving in the UK was courtesy of the Canadian merchant marine supported by the brave Norwegian and Danish seafarers. The loss at Dunkirk left the British military ill prepared for an invasion and it was the 1st Canadian Division, under the command of a Canadian officer, Lieutenant-General Andrew G.L. McNaughton who were expected to be used in the event of an immediate invasion. The RAF would have lost the Battle of Britain had it not had the participation of RCAF No 1 Squadron and the mostly Canadian RAF 242 Canadian Squadron. 7 Canadian destroyers participated in the Dunkirk evacuation and were the naval vessels which rescued the British military at other isolated ports . Unlike Dutch school kids, the ungrateful people of England show no respect for the sacrifice of the Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, and others who saved their country. It will bite them on their collective fat butts. This is one time the Canadians should be taking counsel from Australia on how to manage the UK relationship. Carney was not owned. Trump made a fool of himself with his bombastic display of poor manners and ignorance. The UK is paying the price of its bungled Brexit. Now it is crawling back and begging the EU for a trade deal that will in effect put back many of the policies Brexit was supposed to end. The government of Canada must be concerned with what other countries are up to because those countries represent alternative markets. The calm and measured response is slowly paying off. Fox was all excited when Honda announced that it will move the manufacturing of Honda CRVs sold into the USA from Canada to the USA. What was not mentioned is that Honda will no longer manufacture CRVs in the USA for the export market. All of that manufacturing will be transferred to Canada. The end result is that the future for the Canadian plant is secured, while the US plant will get an initial boost, it will be restricted to the US market with no growth in new and growing markets like Latin America or Africa. Short term gain, but long term loss. A typical US business outcome.
  2. Ooopsie. Visitors are staying away and it is beginning to have an impact. 😮‍💨 https://weekly.visualapproach.io/p/canada-s-american-pullback The analysis suggests a 30% decline in Canadian visitors to Florida. Other tourist destinations are being hit too. The UK is the 2nd most important source of visitors to Florida after Canada. Florida Tourist Board Reveals Drop In U.K. Visitor Numbers https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2025/04/11/florida-tourist-board-reveals-drop-in-uk-visitor-numbers/ Many border cities and states say they’re feeling the absence of Canadians. Retail stores, hotels, restaurants, and airlines are all seeing the effects. “Well, we now have the border crossing numbers for Champlain for March and, as anticipated, car crossings were down 31% compared with March 2024,” Garry Douglas, president of the North Country Chamber of Commerce, said. “Visitation was down 16% in February but we knew March was the month that tariffs and counter-tariffs hit, along with a heightened sense that many of our northern friends and neighbors would avoid travel to the U.S. for now.” https://cardinalpointsonline.com/border-crossings-down-31/ In another article “Thirty-one per cent is a lot, particularly when it’s on a number that we roughly estimate is more than $300 million a year in spending by Canadians just in the immediate Plattsburgh area,” said Chamber of Commerce President Garry Douglas. https://www.ctvnews.ca/montreal/article/plattsburgh-golf-courses-a-ghost-town-as-montreal-businesses-booms/ Hostile threats have consequences. Upstate New York votes Republican. Florida votes Republican. May they enjoy their payoff.
  3. A false attribution of an event. Rogan doesn't look particularly green. Gray perhaps. The change in spectrum was not made at CNN. On the contrary, it was done on the Facebook page where the claim was first made. Once again, the claim of a conspiracy that was fabricated by the proponents. The issue was examined by multiple disinterested third parties and there was no evidence of CNN doing anything inappropriate. https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-927543720080 You could have found this had you not been so quick to make a flase claim and to reinforce your own bias.
  4. Nyet nyet, Comrade. Please let us know Putin's views on Trump's orange hue.
  5. When was that? Can you share the event please.
  6. Someone was purchasing those mushrooms. Should we have public executions and banning of their nationalities once a confession is obtained by any means necessary?
  7. You have no idea of the circumstances and make multiple assumptions, projecting your own prejudice. - The dead body may have been the result of a miscarriage or a still born delivery. In effect, dead on arrival. - The person discarding the presumed newborn, and there is no evidence that it was ever actually born alive, will have been in a distressed state. If t was a live birth, one does not know what the circumstances were. If it was a product of rape, forced sex work, incest or otherwise, it is likely that there will not be horror or shame in the disposal. Perhaps, just relief that the immediate pain is over. - Poverty leaves little time for shame. Survival is the priority.
  8. Lots of responsibility and blame to share. The ultimate responsible party is the project principal who is named above. The project design was the responsibility of the principal's design engineer and architect. Allowing the design to proceed was the fault of the supervising construction engineer. The failure to inspect the location and the failure to vet the design rests with the government. The major tenants who signed leases should have reviewed the new building plan and if they did, their engineers share some responsibility for not questioning the design.
  9. The Myanamar construction workers and families disagree.
  10. There is a chance that the beer is recycled, and that the burger is not necessarily beef. The low cost base price of Thailand becomes much more expensive when one wishes to have western comforts such as a proper bathroom, or HVAC. My shopping bill for a bag of basic western groceries at Villa was 2500 baht. Try and find affordable bell peppers. 30-35 baht a small pepper. A good mattress is difficult to find. A western quality pillow top mattress is on sale for 160,000 baht at Mattress City. A semi decent mattress goes for 15,000-35,000 baht. And so on and so forth.
  11. The Chinese economy is not collapsing. Chinese outbound tourism has been experiencing double increases. There is a good article that details the Chinese tourist market trends. Read the section Thailand 's Lost Charm https://skift.com/2025/03/31/chinas-outbound-travel-is-having-a-comeback-and-first-timers-are-driving-it/ It makes some very good points with observations such as; - One notable trend: A rise in first-time outbound travelers. Nearly 38% of Chinese travelers will be traveling abroad for the first time. These travelers are younger — almost 64% are below 30 years, and 60% of them are female. The under 35 years of age Chinese traveler today is more health focused, international in mindset, and better educated than its western equivalent. The younger demographic wants fun at the beach, hiking, visiting interesting sites, and comfortable, cosy eating venues. They want self care experiences like a good facial cleanse or therapeutic massage. They want to eat healthy. The Thai tourism model of promoting the tacky bars and tourist venues found in Pattaya, Patong, Koh Samui started to die out 20 years ago. it is not a healthy lifestyle. Healthy and fit people avoid these activities, nor are they interested in going on a holiday to cavort with cheap hookers. - Singapore (17%) remains the most preferred destination, followed by Japan (16%) and South Korea (13%). Know what those 3 destinations have in common? Clean, safe and ordered. There is little risk of a taxi ripoff, or a negative experience with a jet ski rental in these countries. No one ends up sick from food poisoning as Thailand visitors often do. No one is allowed to burn garbage near a tourist site. There are no police shakedowns of tourists. Despite economic uncertainties, there’s a notable "value-for-experience" mindset among travelers. Cost sensitivities are balanced by a desire for rich, culturally immersive experiences. Bingo. I have been saying this for eons. The value proposition of Thailand is gone.
  12. Is there an actual reliable source other than the Hamas propagandist outlets?
  13. Putting lots of spaces does not add credibility. The child was removed from the USA. The US government has already acknowledged the event and does not deny the child's removal. You are ignoring the known fact that the child who was a U.S. citizen suffering from a rare form of metastatic cancer was forcibly removed without medication or the ability to consult with their treating physicians–despite ICE being notified in advance of the child’s urgent medical needs. What part of the child protection laws do you not understand that places the safety of the child primary to the alleged claim that the child belonged with the parents? Whether or not the child will return to the USA is irrelevant. The child was removed without its required medication and its immediate safety was put at risk. The child will most likely die without medical care. The child was sent to a country that will not be able to provide the healthcare that the child was receiving. The removed families had no choice in the matter. The manner of removal demonstrates that ICE arranged the removal process with the intent to deny access to legal assistance and to deny the US citizen children to have access to due process. The court filings state that ICE detained the first family on Tuesday, April 22, and the second family on Thursday, April 24. In both cases, ICE held the families incommunicado, refusing or failing to respond to multiple attempts by attorneys and family members to contact them. In one instance, a mother was granted less than one minute on the phone before the call was abruptly terminated when her spouse tried to provide legal counsel’s phone number. The families were completely isolated during critical moments when decisions were being made about the welfare of their minor children. This included decisions with serious implications for the health, safety, and legal rights of the children involved–without any opportunity to coordinate with caretakers or consult with legal representatives. The actions were in direct violation of ICE’s own written and informal directives, which mandate coordination for the care of minor children with willing caretakers–regardless of immigration status–when deportations/removals are being carried out. You say that it sounds like the parents took the children without notifying the doctor. Wrong. The mother tried to have the medical authority contacted and ICE refused. It is nice that you acknowledge that US citizens should not be forcibly removed from the USA. However, that is what occurred here. There was no effort to act in the child's best interest. Even in draconian states like Texas, a court will appoint a person to represent a minor when there is a serious proceeding. The appointee is there to ensure that the child's rights are respected. This did not occur. You know what it looks like? You are attempting to cover up and make excuses for a catastrophic blunder by the local ICE office. Even the most extreme right wing of SCOTUS judges are going to have a hard time supporting what was an unconstitutional and illegal act. Sending a sick US citizen to suffer and probably die in a foreign land is not going to play well with most people.
  14. The minor who was suffering from metastatic cancer and undergoing critical treatment was a US citizen. The child was removed without consulting with the attending physicians. The obligation of duty of care for the best interests of a minor and of legal due process was ignored. The US federal and state laws are clear when it comes to US children: The immediate safety of a child takes precedence over everything including parent wishes. Denying a child medical care was not appropriate. US Constitution and US law does not differentiate between US citizens. If a person is a US citizen, that is all that matters. Trump was really on the road to Damascus and had an epiphany. He now loves Qatar. It is wonderful what a multi million dollar gift of an aircraft and a desperate need for a purchase of US arms can motivate.
  15. You are posing questions rather than addressing the original observations. The experience you have with "friends" is nothing new. Families were torn apart because of Nixon's policies in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. As you asked questions, I will play along. The simple answer to your three questions is; Idiots and often criminals. Unfortunately, some of the Trump administration's policies are disrespectful of the US Constitution and his treatment of legitimate journalists does share similarities to totalitarian regime policies as seen in Russia and China and despot dictatorships around the world. The vandalism of Teslas is criminal and the people who do that are self appointed vigilantes. They have the same mentality as the idiots and criminals who engaged in the January insurrection. They should be prosecuted and if guilty, given the same treatment as other vandals and arsonists. The people who support Hamas are terrorist sympathizers and are dishonest. Much of the campus protests was foreign agent enabled and I believe in many cases foreign financed. The involvement of China and Iran has been documented. Sowing civil unrest in the USA is their intent. It became the trendy thing to do much as Occupy Wall Street was trendy for a while.
  16. Pleased that he did not berate these dignitaries for not wearing socks and shoes.
  17. No it is not. It is in respect to the people who claim they are MAGA. Not everyone who shares some of the political positions as the Trump administration is MAGA, and that's what MAGA cultists don't appreciate. For example, immigration reform. A majority of US citizens wanted action taken. It ran the spectrum from a sharp crackdown to more effective screening and surveillance at the border. Most people do not support deporting a child who is undergoing cancer treatment, or the suspension of due process. Most people want spending to be reined in, but they will scream and have fits if actual reform is made such as a reduction in social benefit payments. You speak of blindness, but the blindness is with the MAGA collective who have assumed that the USA population supports extremist policies. It does not and this will be expressed in the next US mid term elections.
  18. Trump is once again rewarding his big financial donors. The amusing part of this is that the MAGA collective is silent. They are the first to froth at the mouth and to claim tales of conspiracy when it comes to big companies and government controlling data. And here we are with their beloved dear leader doing just that and not a word of concern.
  19. You know they won't. Now they have a brain damaged child to care for.
  20. It is common in China and South Korea to have a personal name stamp that is used on documents.
  21. There was a fad a few years ago that had people carrying around dolls. Some sort of spirit thing I believe.
  22. Come now. One need only read the forums to see the abuse that comes form the MAGA followers. There is a BIG difference between people who have some "conservative" views and those who see conspiracy plots everywhere and are quick to insult. Some forum members cannot go a day without calling someone a libtard or a commie or a snowflake etc.
  23. 75% If you add the other whites it is 80%+
  24. MAGA people live in the gutter of political behavior. They are given to insulting and bullying anyone who disagrees with them. They rely on childish name calling and label anyone who has a different view. Examples are the use of terms such as libtard, woke and communist. The MAGA collective does not accept factual evidence and instead fabricates and often lies. The lack of education and understanding of the world is a characteristic of the most vocal of MAGA followers. Marjorie Taylor Green is the poster girl for everything that is wrong with MAGA.
