Continuing my opening thread: When speaking to the hotel about the Test & Go package (Day 1 and 5) and whether my wife could stay with me in my room on Day 5 and being told 'No' and that she would have to have a separate room in a different building, I then asked if on Day 2-4(assuming negative result on Day 1, I could book a room for my wife and self, 'Yes' was the answer but on Day 5 I would have to move back to the 'quarantine' building on my own to have the PCR test. How crazy is that?
The programme is designed to Scam foreigners and nothing to do with the Covid infection!

I have seen nothing official yet and the Thailand Pass site has not been updated yet.
It does not have to be posted in they Royal Gazette since the authority to make the changes have already been granted to them under the emergency decree.
Perhaps they are having second thoughts,or is that too much to wish for?
-
Is the new Test & Go now a fact or must it appear in The Royal Gazette first? If it is a fact, do we assume that the the medical cover for Asymptomtic Covid mention at the CCSA Press briefing on 22 January is also a fact or is it to be ignored as wishful thinking on the part of the CCSA?
If it has to appear in The Royal Gazette has that happened, or is it still waiting to be published, remembring it all suppose to come into force in 5 days time!

Certainly does, but it's perhaps not the hotel's fault. Imagine if you came back on day 5 with missis in tow, and you tested positive - what would they do with her?. I guess they're just trying to avoid complications.
Good Point

I spoke to an hotel in Bangkok today about accommodation for my Day 5 PCR. Day 2 - 4 will be spent with my wife in our house. My wife would like to come to Bangkok with me on Day 5 andI asked if she could stay with me in my room. No way Jose! Goverment not allow.
I said this is crazy, we will be together Day 2 - 4, we are both fully vaccinated with boosters. Stillno way Jose.
The mind boggles at this stupidity!

A friend in UK tells me that testing for arrivals no longer required, but nothing on UK Gov site yet, except suggestion that rules will change. Best to wait until it is official.
I understand the new rules come into force on 11 February 2022.

Or don't call - just apply for the desired policy online. If they sell it to you (which, as Sheryl suggested, they almost certainly will), you're good to go and no need for discussion with anyone.
And there's no point asking TGIA whether a 30 day policy will suffice for your Thailand Pass, since they don't formulate entry policy or make those decisions - you're going to end up with the personal opinion of whoever answers the phone. Although the instructions said that the policy had to be valid for the length of stay in Thailand, MFA told Richard Barrow a couple of months ago that a 30 day policy is sufficient for anyone entering, and that seems to have been borne out by people's experiences.
Based on reported experiences, I would agree with your comments. However, having lived here for the last 16 years I always attempt to mitigate against the unexpected.

Mental impairment as a defense to justify diminished criminal liability is just as much a quackery as lobotomy being an accepted surgical intervention decades ago. It's an insult to the life and dignity of the dead victim. Escaping accountability by claiming voices inside one's head were the culprits behind the act is a cheap excuse. If you take or end someone's life, you forfeit your liberty or your right to enjoy waking up to a new day with your peers.
There speaks an expert on Psychology , not. Understanding the human mind and its behaviour requires many years of study and observation, which I have done. Any rush to judgement belongs in the bar! It maybe that the attacker is fit to face trial or not. However, he should be assessed before being condemned. I agree that a henious crime has been committed, but all the facts of state of mind of attacker and the annoyance being caused by two people who did not apparently demonstrate any social etiquette must be considred before judgement. It maybe that the Thai medical authorities have some questions to answer as to whether the attacker was fit to be out in the community!

If you have a non 0, and not an o-a or o-x, then this thai company will insure you up to age 99. you can get 1 month cover with them, it is accepted by immigration for entry to Thailand ie for Thai pass https://covid19.tgia.org/
Sorry to disagree, but I have spoke to TGIA today and they say I cannot use them and 30 days is not long enough to cover my stay in THAILAND. I wish it was otherwise

Just spoken to Thai General Insurance Association and they tell me that I cannot apply for Insurance through them because I have a Non O Immigrant Visa. I explained that I was leaving Thailand in March and would be returning at the end of April and required insurance for the Thailand Pass. Made no difference to the answer. The main insurers have a cut off date for age and I am way past that. Seems thatTGIA will only insure the one month tourist,

I mean some official order or such. I don't think the change has to be published in the Royal Gazette.
When it is on the the Thailand Pass website it will really be official and it is not on there yet.
This coming week no doubt, but your point taken and accepted.

None that I have seen mentioned in any news articles.
I have seen no official reliable info about it yet.
CCSA spokesperson not reliable? I know the outcome on Thursday CCSA meeting has to be published in the Royal Gazette before it becomes' official, but I repeat again, the Spokesperson stated 'that the compulsory insurance policies will need to cover ALL contingencies if you happen to test positive, including your additional accommodation costs.' That's anew requirement for sure.
No wish to be argumentative, but that was also reported quite widely in the media.

I have not seen anything official about what you wrote about.
I think he you already had a residence here they would allow you do a the self quarantine there.
May I therefore direct your attention to another media outlet which contains an update on yesterdays CCSA meeting and I quote ' The CCSA also announced that the compulsory insurance policies will need to cover ALL contingencies if you happen to test positive, including your additional accommodation costs.'
-
If I am understanding the new requirement for the re-introduction of this beauracatic nightmare, the required Insurance policy now has to cover the cost of a possible residence in a hotel if you test positive on Day 1 or Day 5. Speaking to a contact in the Insurance world I was told that it is most unlikely that Insurance companies will do this and if they do be prepared for a hefty price increase of the policy.
Everything is focussed on the tourist. Why can't those of us who live here longterm isolate at home?

Booster Period Extended
in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Posted
My local hospital tell me that as of this week the waiting interval for a Covid booster vaccination is now 6 months.
I have also received an email from BGCT Bangkok today saying the same thing.
