  1. I'm not crazy about tariffs. I think the EV tariff is a mistake.
  2. I suspect many people have Thai bank accounts at close to zero interest.
  3. How much money has to be stashed in a Thai bank account to generate 20K baht in interest?
  4. The Thai government. “Resident” means any person residing in Thailand for a period or periods aggregating more than 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. A resident of Thailand is liable to pay tax on income from sources in Thailand as well as on the portion of income from foreign sources that is brought into Thailand.
  5. The DTA will give *some* protection from double taxation. Your home country tax payment serves as a credit towards your Thai tax. However, if your home country tax rate is lower than the Thai rate, you may have to pay the difference to Thailand.
  6. Rental income from property in the US is not taxable in Thailand if you are a US citizen and the money is not remitted to Thailand.
  7. I believe you just invented a fantastic new capability of the Thai government.
  8. How much money is required in a savings account to accumulate enough interest for withholding to be used? Asking for a friend. Are we talking millions of baht?
  9. And easy for the Thai police to enforce the rules for wearing a motorcycle helmet, too.
  10. This is a good point. If the Digital Wallet can disappear, so can the new tax regulations.
  11. Any ex-pat residing in Thailand for more than 180 days in a calendar year is a tax resident.
  12. Not too many people that stay for only 3 months have a Thai bank account.
  13. Once you file a tax return, you are in the clutches of the RD, and it won't be so easy to escape from the tax system. I am bailing from Thailand for all but 179 days of the year.
  14. This is kind of true. Trump had a small pilot program to cap insulin for a small group. Biden expanded it to everyone on Medicare Part D. Do you think the $35 cap on insulin is a good idea?
  15. You seem really hung up on policies enacted by states and local school boards.
  16. Former President Donald Trump said Thursday the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, was “much better” than the Congressional Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration, because soldiers who receive the latter had to be severely injured or killed to receive it.
  17. Anyone saying that Walz' didn't serve long enough is just crazy.
  18. Hidden-camera video shows Project 2025 co-author discussing his secret work preparing for a second Trump term Vought said his group, the Center for Renewing America, was secretly drafting hundreds of executive orders, regulations, and memos that would lay the groundwork for rapid action on Trump’s plans if he wins, describing his work as creating “shadow” agencies. He claimed that Trump has “blessed” his organization and “he’s very supportive of what we do.”
  19. Anyone claiming that Walz' 24 years in the National Guard was not enough is out of their mind.
  20. If you ever have to write a paper on how Trump lost the 2024 election, here you go.
  21. The problem with your statement is that Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania are a lock for Harris, as long as her support doesn't collapse. So there is no way she wins the popular votes but loses those 3 states. I suspect that Harris leaves the Democratic convention with a statistically significant lead over Trump. So, it will be up to Trump to turn it around.
  22. Trump’s favorite pollster was the least accurate in the midterms They don’t excuse Rasmussen’s midterm performance. Rasmussen’s final poll was the least accurate of any of the 32 polls. They had the Republicans ahead nationally by one point. Democrats are currently winning the national House vote by 8.6 points. That’s an error of nearly 10 points. - 2018
