  1. My point is to explain how there can be more tourists in Pattaya, but the bars are not so crowded: More wives are coming. There are more ex-pats, but they get quickly snatched by Thai ladies.
  2. Traffic is horrendous .... but the ladies are beginning to complain about a lack of customers. Hotels are still pretty full, and Bolt taxis are Scarce. I suspect that Pattaya is going the way of Phuket, most men come with their Farang girlfriends. So the ladies have fewer customers so they raise prices. Even if more single men decide to retire in Pattaya, they get caught by a Thai lady pretty quickly, which takes them out of play for a few months, until the Thai lady announces she is too old for boom-boom. And then the Farang can only go to bars discreetly. It's getting to the point that Pattaya is so busy that nobody goes there.
  3. no. After he accepted my Bolt request, he sent a message asking for 60 baht extra.
  4. I just had a driver ask me for an extra 60 baht for a pickup.
  5. Bolt is acting very strangely. There are drivers nearby, but decline to pick me.
  6. Perhaps someone could inform us whether places that sell ganja will be closed on March 6.
  7. Everyone will survive, I am just providing information.
  8. but closed on March 6.
  9. We can agree that the venues where most people go will be closed on March 6, even though we might not all personally approve of those venues. There will be exceptions, of course, but for planning purposes, better to stock up ahead of time.
  10. Practically speaking, if you expect to be able to hit the bars on Soi 6 or the gogos on Walking Street on March 6, you will be disappointed. Cue the usual questions about whether the bars and gogos will open at 12.01 on March 7.
  11. Restaurants may stay open, and some serve beer in paper cups or tea cups.
  12. Macha Bucha day is March 6. You may register your complaints here.
  13. I have 30 girlfriends, one for every day of the month. How does that count?
  14. You are correct. There exists at least one Thai lady who gets money from a Farang who does not "lend" to their Thai boyfriend. Of the ladies I know who receive money from sponsors abroad, there is maybe one who went home and does not have a Thai boyfriend (that I know of). That one wants me to come visit her, though. If I run through the others, they are all involved with another man in some form of relationship. One lady I know who is sponsored up now can afford to go with young Farang men who don't pay her. One lady who is sponsored by a Farang who lives in Pattaya went to Brazil with me for 3 weeks (!). Since she told me that he is a sponsor, not a boyfriend, I was okay with that. Bootom line: if you are not in Thailand, and you send money to a lady, you are a chump. Even if being a chump makes you feel good.
  15. The research into effectiveness of Ivermectin in fighting Covid continues. It should be remembered that not all clinical trials are equal. Some clinical trials are poorly conducted. Some are not peer reviewed. The Ivermectin proponents tend to design their studies to support Ivermectin. Sample size is important, the larger the better. Random selection of participants is a critical factor. To the extent that a clinical trial is conducted optimally, the worse the results for Ivermectin.
  16. Bolt is nonfunctional even during the day, so it seems to be a problem with lack of drivers, not so much too many customers.
  17. 100%. If you are not in Thailand, and sending money to a bargirl, you are stupid. Even if she allegedly goes back to the village, you are stupid. At the very least, the BG is handing your money to her Thai boyfriend. If she really goes home, there is no reason she can't invite other Farangs to come visit. You can't go by what she posts on Facebook, they are very careful. Save your money for when you are in Thailand.
  18. Yes. Once the ladies start drinking they spill their guts. I give them real Tequila. And yes, when they are ready to have fun, they typically take a shower.
  19. Ukrainian food is different from Russian, it has more dill. The borsht is different, as well. I never managed to find good Russian food in Pattaya.
  20. When I go back to the US, every day is a drag. I make my trips to the west as short as possible.
  21. It is appropriate for a country the size of Thailand to operate F5s and F16s. With Israeli upgrades, F5s would be viable for a long time.
  22. Anyone using anecdotal evidence to support Ivermectin, just look at the Herman Cain awards on Reddit. There are entries for literally 1000s of anti-vaxxers, Ivermectin supporters, and Covid hoaxers on the Vent, or dead. I guess there is nothing more hard core than a Covid hoaxer dead from Covid.
  23. It sounds like the husband was living in Thailand in proximity to the family, although the news stories are vague about this. When the lady disappeared, the husband was presumably still living in Britain with the two children. Even if the lady had run away with another man, she never contacted her children. That would prompt an inquiry by the husband, under normal circumstances.
  24. 2024 is next year. Right now, U-Tapao serves maybe 500 passengers a day, maybe 200,000 a year.
