Thai mobile phone provider wants too much money
NONG CHOK replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I was a wake up to their games years ago. Since then I've used DTAC around 1,800 baht per year for unlimited WIFI and 100 baht of free phone calls every month. The prices some companies show online are only a bluff, when you put it to them the price comes down. Most short term farangs just pay and don't queery the price because it's still much cheaper than the countries they came from. If anyone decides to follow my advice buy your SIM card online from Lazada etc don't buy it from the provider. You will save 400 baht plus. -

Thai tourism sector proposes 300-baht tax to counter over-tourism
NONG CHOK replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Next thing there will be a nightly tax for farangs sleeping with their legally married Thai wives. If there's any extra hanky panky picked up by spy cams there will be an additional surcharge. -
What's the best day to go to the DLT office in Pattaya?
-
As I go for my long daily walk every morning in that area I see every thing that's going on. It appears that work has started on the extra large land behind Space Hotel. Yesterday when I walked past the open gates they were digging the foundations and trucks were removing the soil. Now tour buses have taken over that area and many are driven by people who have a Thai motor bike riders mentality.

One other point worth considering is that the old Best Supermarket and the Peace Resort may have been built on long term leased land.
-
Everywhere in Naklua is being knocked down to build top of the range hotels, especially on the Wongamart side of Naklua Road. I'd say Best Supermarket along with the Peace Hotel were forced to go. Maybe the offer was to good to knock back. Give them a month as it's been one hell of a job to move all their stock. I'm sure things will change once things are settled down. One up side is the new shop has a superb alcohol section.

There is a car park there but it's hard to say how many cars it will hold.
-
Its going to be replaced by another multi story hotel complex similar to the Space Hotel.

Hi there, I walked past the new Best Supermarket this morning, I noticed that it officially opens tomorrow Sat April 20. It's opposite the Susco servo between Sois 25 and 27, It's over the road from where I live. So that will be less stress on my old legs.

Fire Breaks Out at Former Nightclub in Sattahip
NONG CHOK replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Where I come from in Australia we call these situations Jews stock takes. There's a large coffee shop around the corner from me in Naklua Road where a fire ocurred and since the rebuild it's totally deserted. Prior to the fire it was a very busy shop. -
Songkran festival ends with 243 deaths in traffic accidents
NONG CHOK replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I live in a soi 50 metres from Naklua Road just near the new Best Super Market. I noticed this morning at 6am when I go for my normal 2 hours walk that the vendors were getting all set up. I had to walk on the road as all the footpaths were blocked even little kids sleeping on the footpaths and others sleeping in tents. Now it's 5.30 pm here and it's been out of control all day. When will they bring in designated water throwing zones like many places up North have? -
Thai man and foreigner clash over water splash dispute (video)
NONG CHOK replied to webfact's topic in Eastern Thailand News
A few days ago I had to go shopping in Tukcom, on my return home I got on a baht bus and travelled the full distance of Second Road. As the traffic was very slow people on baht buses were subjected to a deluge of water from passing pick up trucks every time they had to stop. Surely they should ban water being thrown from the back of vehicles. As I've suggested many times unless these morons can tone it down heaps, the local Amphur should have designated water throwing areas. It would be much easier to patrol and the BIB's may well be surprised who they meet there. -

I wonder how many people who normally spend money regularly confined themselves to to where they live. -

If this becomes a matter for the police, she will be charged with receiving swollen goods. The monk will be charged for having an offensive person on his weapon.- 25 replies

Hi there, I've been trying for several seasons now to get AFL free online, with little success. I found sites that work ok but keep on buffering or show malware warnings. Most of the sites I've tried are from online bookmakers sites. Several years ago I used to get AFL live on the ABC, then along came Tony Abbott and he had the ABC re arranged so that was the end of the AFL for me. I can still get the VFL and NRL live using a VPN. As I live in Pattaya there's many sports bar where I can watch what I want but as I'm fast approaching 80 years old, now I'd just like to watch the footy at home with a stocked up Esky at the ready.

The juristic girl said I’m not allowed to clean my house!

I think Bob should try pulling himself together instead of apart, it worked for me. -

If I were you Bob I'd put the hard word on her. Either you'd offend her and she would never come back again or you'd be on a steady " juicy fruit " it would certainly save you wasting your time in Aseannow. -
In recent years the land where the motor cycles were parked has been replaced by 2 new hotels. So now in a very narrow soi we have to listen to tour buses all night.
