  1. If I were you Bob I'd put the hard word on her. Either you'd offend her and she would never come back again or you'd be on a steady " juicy fruit " it would certainly save you wasting your time in Aseannow.
  2. In recent years the land where the motor cycles were parked has been replaced by 2 new hotels. So now in a very narrow soi we have to listen to tour buses all night.
  3. May I add, when the coup makers took over irrespective what country you came from what was your exchange rate to the Thai baht. Three months after the coup every countries exchange rate dropped considerably. Which was amazing as the Thai baht was as soft as a pensioners turd.
  4. I first moved to Thailand in 2000, I was married to a Thai lady 2 years later. Since then Thailand has gone dramatically backwards for all sorts of reasons. If I wasn't married I'd be out of Thailand as early as I could be. If I was a newbie I would never buy a property here. Thai governments only want short term tourists, farangs such as myself who took my wife out of poverty means nothing. If they had anything between their ears the would be encouraging expats to settle here. What about another hub, the hub where we seek expats who can give their wifes and families a decent life.
  5. Hi there, as I'm about to renew my Thai drivers license in the near future I need a certificate of residence. Even though I'm currently holding a Thai license which I first made 22 years ago. This is the first time they've requested a CR. That said, I've used the same agent for my annual one year visa, my condo is in my Thai wifes name so how can the visa agent make a CR for me. I have no yellow or pink book, so do they bypass this as part of the 900 baht fee.?
  6. The cleaning ladies don't worry me and they are very pleasant and friendly. It's the people inside where the " Catholic "converts reside. It was on again this morning for several hours. Yelling Thai Isaan songs and carrying on as if they broke into the vault set aside for the communion wine. Being Isaan women they may've been drinking Lao Kaow. If that's the case the place would've been deadly silent as they would've been commatosed on the floor or resuming their " Catholic " studies.
  7. I never forgot the time we went on a camping holiday going on 70 years ago. So we stopped at the camping park and I needed a crap. So when I walked into the toilet I noticed writing on the wall. " There's no use standing on the seat as the crabs in here can jump 6 feet "
  8. I'm a plumber with 50 years experience just give it a few squirts with something that frees up corrosion. In Australia we use WD 40. This same type of thing can bought in any hardware outlet in Thailand and may cost you 50 baht. May I add this is a different type of screwing that I'm used to in Pattaya.
  9. After your comment I think you are lacking in common sense the same problem with the Immigration officer. Anyway I fixed that problem I always wanted a holiday home so I bought a condo in Pattaya. So even though I own my house in Bangkok I use my Pattaya address when I making a one year visa. So after 8 years using the same agent I've eliminated all that $hit that I used to have to put up with.
  10. I spent 3 Songkrans in Pattaya 20 odd years ago, I was a tourist and staying in hotels and after awhile I got sick of running out of clean clothes. Move on I met my wife to be in a bar I think it was Jambo 2 Bar virtually next to the police station. When the bars from Soi 8 to the police station were refurbished Jambo Bar 2 never returned. After getting married we moved around a bit and Songkran became more of a family thing which I thought was something special especially as her only grand child was an 8 yo boy. He's 24 years old now and still treats me with absolute respect. Maybe he was taught well as his father is Thai Chinese from an excellent family, even they treat me very well. So nowadays Songkran is the way it should be, respect especially for your elders, a bit of water, neck flowers and powder. When that's all done with a huge feast and heaps of booze much better than my Songkrans in Pattaya.
  11. I good mate of mine from my working days lives in that area and he told many guys leave bars totally bombed and get into their cars as they believe there's no one watching them. I've been there in the day time and the roads are rather winding plus a gut full of booze can be a lethal mixture.
  12. About 15 years ago I was in Bangkok and I had to renew my one year visa. So the day before I had all the documents required and I went to an ATM got an update and put it with all my other documents. So off the the Bangkok Immigration , waited for probably 2 hours before my number came up. So I sat down and the let the Immigration guy take over. Everything was in order until he seen the update from the ATM to make sure the 400,000 baht was in my account right now. He knocked me back stating that he wouldn't accept the ATM update as it was yesterday. So down the stairs I got another update from an ATM, got a copy at the copy shop and he was satisfied then. So I asked him when I updated today what if I transferred the money to where ever before returning to you. He couldn't answer as he was in total shock. It's something I've never forgotten about the Thai mindset.
  13. I think most believe that they run the show even though they are total nobodies in the Immigration chain of command. As for the paper work they would need reams of it for the $hit they go on with. The thing that gets me is the Immigration rules are set in stone and these same nobodies appear to give themselves the right to make changes as they see fit.
  14. After living in Thailand for the past 22 years I've come to the conclusion that Thai governments don't want farangs who reside here. They prefer the farangs who go to Thailand on their annual leave and spend money big time over a 4-6 weeks period. Little do these cretins understand that we are mainly retirees who share our life time savings with the Thai lady that we marry. Most of us have taken our ladies out of poverty. I'm even helping my wifes 40yo kids who work hard for low salaries. So why make things harder for us farangs when we actually help Thai people who weren't fortunate to come from wealthy families.
  15. After obtaining my first Thai drivers license 22 years ago and renewing it 4 times since I've now been informed that I need a certificate of residence. I still have the same address. I've never had a certificate of residence before, that's why I'm rather bewildered.
  16. I have 2 brother in laws monks both would've been classed as just over the poverty line but were debt free. One thing I've noticed since I've lived in Thailand is the local auntie stores seem let people run up huge debts that people simply can't repay on their lowly incomes.
  17. May I add maybe the ladies have found God and have mended their ways and have the occasional swig on the communion wine.
  18. Hi all, I live next door to a very large building in Soi 25 Naklua. I believe it's supposed to be a support centre for Pattayas down trodden ladies. At times the ladies make the place sound like Soi 6. I thought they were supposed to be there to rid Buddhism out of their lives and become devout Catholics. Does anyone know anything about this place?
  19. Next week I'm going to the office where I make my one year visa every year to get a residency certificate. What documents do I need? Obviously a current passport. I have a blue book but it's been left in my house in Bangkok. The fact that I have a current one year visa wouldn't the office where I get my visas from in Pattaya know my registered address. Also do I need any other documentation to get a residency certificate? Thanks.
  20. The first thing they need to do is get the exchange rate back to what it was before Yingluck got the big A.
  21. I have a blue book for our condo but because the farang % for ownership was gone it's in my wifes name. When we married legally in Bangkok she changed her family name to mine. Will this be accepted ?
  22. What gives me the $hits is I've held a Thai drivers license for 22 years. In that time I've had no accidents or traffic fines and I still have to do this lame brain test. It's really Thai logic, if you pass this test every time does that make one a super competent driver.
  23. My wife told me years ago to never stop when see a traffic accident, especially motor bikes. If there's no witnesses at the scene the motor bike rider will claim the you caused the accident. Next thing you maybe sued for damages even though you were a few kilometers away from where the accident occurred. Also never drive an uninsured vehicle.
  24. My wifes daughter got done several months ago for employing several Cambodian females. She was given up by other shop keepers who were gullible enough to loan her money to play the Government lottery. This jobs for Thais is a total w**nk. Firstly Thais want top rates and secondly they're like rusty guns, they don't fire. I'm not condoning what my step daughter done. What about the house maids who perform their duties plus extra services they can do, working at Hi So's homes.
