Were these tariffs not instituted after the US won its case against UK/EU for breaking WTO rules on state funding for Airbus?

Good luck to him getting the Constitution Amendment it would require hence the reason elections had to be held during both the Civil and 2nd World Wars.

IIRC early predictions were for about 120,000. In a wave of irrational optimism that was lowered to 60,000 to 80,000. Unfortunately we will easily blow past 140,000 due to the ongoing surge.
OTH, the US has kept its death toll relatively low. It is still below the EU core 6 countries of Germany, Switzerland, Spain, France, Italy and UK with 150,000 deaths. The EU Core 6 has an equivalent population to the US. But the EU has mostly flattened out so US fatalities will soon surpass them.
Switzerland joined the EU? Mised thst happening.

Could be to do witw new rule after china incedent with transit passengers - if Thailand requires covid free certs for transit passengers as well this will make it difficult for airlines to make a stop off here.

Why would the army/police give you a vaccine by force when they could just as easily deport you?

Now all the Hotels and Shopping Malls have to deny one by one they visited them otherwise people won't go.
From what I understand there's also no quarantine Hotels in Rayong?
They arrived Wednesday and tested Positive Sunday so that's 5 days did they wonder around for 5 days?
Seems there's a big cover up and pass the buck Job going on.

Re schools closing, good response, well done.
But my comments remainใ
Also the local MP (and deputy health minister) has got the information out locally as to where thos guy stayed and went which does include a certain shopping mall that strongly denied his presence yesterday. Free testing available at 2 sites now for anyone who wants it.

Why not totally isolate the whole hotel and surroundings and all staff, and all other guests and tradespeople visiting etc. Plus the staff on the next shift?
Seems to be a case of the monkeys leading the monkeys, again.
To be fair they have done quite a bit that is not really making the news. Not sure how much isolation is being done for staff but where they had children the schools were immediately closed. Several other schools in the area such as REPS have also closed for the rest of the week.

Call me confused but if there was a foreign military operating in Thailand I would really expect the Thai Army some have some sort of involvement - saying it has nothing to do with them is not a good look.

I would be wary of any polls from this guy whether it as Superpoll or the Masterpoll outfit previously especially if it is aimed at politicians. Not sure who he actually works for now but, at the time of the last coup when Masterpoll was pushing out similar stuff his linkedin profile made it fairly clear who he actually worked for.

I better get my door locked with such a dangerous felon on the loose in the area - he might show up and tidy my garden or something without a work permit....

I think this bar business is outdated and should be replaced by more appealing things. Could be the right time now to change this sex and booze image. Alone walking on the Beach Road in not Corona times is a sex hassle for "normal" tourists. But even yesterday when I had to walk to the post office - "I come with you", "boom boom" and other invitations for sex. An open air brothel open at daytime already and this even at Corona times.
What were you expecting to happen?

I think you will find ‘xerox machine’ is called a photocopier in proper english........- 3

well thats 4 immediate Land crossings that may stay closed
seems to encompass all Thailands border crossings and the maritime border with Indonesia so might suggest there is a bit more to come with this as part of a tool to totally close all borders particularly with the other news of two immigration officers infected at Sadao.- 1

Shocking organisation.Doubt there are many here who would accept being locked in a room with two strangers and only two beds for two weeks without any warning.

I am no fan of the current govt and have great reservations about how they are handling this, however, there are some very tough decisions being made and the ‘science’ they have to rely on paints a very grim picture.
For those looking for a long read there is a link below to the Imperial College’s latest impact assessment which has a bleak summary at the bottom of the first page.
Bottom line is that suppression seems to be working in the short term in some places but will society be able to handle it for possibly in excess of 18 months. -

I guess now ‘important’ people and celebs are catching it off each other there will be some action rather than trying to point the finger at ‘dirty farang’.

how long will it take?
Doubt it will be quick - guess will have more idea in a month or so dependent on some medical breakthough such as treatment or quick diagnosis at early stage to stop the spreading. If not probably talking months rather than weeks. -
Too late to make any plans for relocating I would say - the speed borders are being shut down and countries are banning travel the whole world will be shut down in a day or two.
Best make plans to hunker down at home for a couple of months or so and wait it out.

Shareholders are owners of the company and as such cannot ‘resign’. As co-owners they need to be bought out at a mutually agreed price.

Been to many government hospitals in Issan lovely well meaning people, however in an area where deaths by dengue fever are routine, i was shocked when visiting the toilet in one which was plagued with mosquitos and the staff just laughed at my idea to buy a 50baht spray to clear it once a day.
For all the shopping malls, mercs, golden ordained temples and superb hospitals in Bkk it is still a third world country and even though we have enormous affection for the place it can be very frustrating for anything of a serious nature without unlimited cash which normally sorts most problems here.
Actually the UK advice has just changed and instruction now is to stay home for 7 days if you show symptoms of the virus.- 2

UK government U-turns on England school exam grades after uproar

Several days of dithering and they did exactly what was fairly obvious in the first place and had already been done by Scotland, NI and Wales. Why they failed to recognise this as a problem before it happened, deal with it quickly when it did and effectively communicate with those affected just identifies how incompetent this govt is. Thank goodness this happened when there was nothing serious going on for them to deal with......
