Yes, I'm exactly the same. Many sites I had to register just to look at something and mostly I used 123456789 PW, I have dozens of them and couldn't give a hoot if anyone cracks them and gets in. I've still got all those silly PWs stored away in my GMail account, though I'd tried to delete some. As I mentioned above I've now changed all my important PWs with much stronger PWs.
-
Thanks for that, I have several email accounts, I checked the 2 main ones I use and one came up pwned. I think because I used it for Bolt and Bolt had a breach a while ago. Anyway, I have now changed the PWs for all my email accounts and my online banking.
-
Recently I've been getting security alerts from Google/GMail informing me some of my PWs have been found published online and for me to change all my PWs. Has anyone else been receiving these alerts? Are these alerts to be taken seriously or is it some internet BS? I really have a lot of different PWs stored with my GMail account, so changing all of them is a big task, I also don't want to go fiddling around with my stored PWs if this is some sort of scam.

Cambodia vs Vietnam - what country is your favorite?
grain replied to Baron Samedi's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
If me for a couple of months holiday I'd prefer Vietnam. Of course it all depends on what one is looking for. If scenery and interesting places then as LittleBear57 has already outlined, Nam for sure. If on the other hand one was looking for action, bars, mongering, then Cambodia, in particular PP, has the edge on Nam. -
They found him at 6:50pm, at this time of year the sun doesn't set until around 6:30, and it's not completely dark for another 15-20 minutes after sunset. So he wasn't walking around in the dark until maybe the final 10 minutes. However, you're correct there may have been obstructions like rocky outcrops in his way. Also remember he had a mobile phone and internet as he used WhatsApp, so it's puzzling that he couldn't establish where he was and get back on track using Google Maps.

Well you see it works like this. The sun sets in the west, so being late afternoon you can see in which direction the sun is setting, so you walk in a straight line with the sun in front of you, and you will eventually arrive on the western coast of Koh Phangan. If at any time you find yourself walking and the sun is behind you, then you are no longer walking in a straight line.
-
It was late afternoon, it's not difficult to keep on a straight line when there's a setting sun to follow. ????

Good points, I'll give it a try.

Yes, that could be a solution. The fact I have 3 gaps in my mouth doesn't bother me a bit, as the gaps can't be seen unless I really open wide. So the only problem I have is the occasional accidental biting of the cheeks, so smoothing off may well solve the problem. I have a good dentist in Khon Kaen and I'll discuss it with her soon.

Thanks for the replies so far everyone. having all my other teeth extracted and getting dentures is definitely not an option. Maybe someone knows about this. When I was teaching at Thai schools I noticed some kids had a tooth that looked like it was made from stainless steel or silver. A whole silver tooth in the kids mouth. I presume it's some temporary fix after the kid's first teeth fall out. So does anyone know what they are and how they are held in position?
-
Over the years I've had 3 teeth extracted. 1 upper left, 1 upper right, and 1 bottom left. As there are now gaps where the teeth once were, and extra corners on either side of the gaps, I find that often when I eat, and sometimes when talking, I'll accidently catch part of the inside of my cheeks in the gaps and bite on my cheek lining, which results in blood blisters, some can be quite large. So I'm thinking of maybe getting those 3 gaps filled. Have other BMs had the same issue? And if you got the gaps filled in any way what was done, and what was the approx cost? Before anyone tells me I should be asking a dentist about this, I intend doing just that, but before talking with a dentist I just want to know what options are available and what the costs would be so when I talk with a dentist I have some idea about what is being discussed.

Advice/help without judgement *please* - Black magic?
grain replied to JamesR7's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yep, that's what I suspected. The 2 regions of Thailand with the most powerful saiyasat are Deep South (Muslim/Hindu) and lower Isarn around Surin/Srisaket/Buriram (Khmer). I've got nothing to offer you in help/advice regarding TVs & iPods, none of the research I did ever dealt with those things. And as you're in London there's nothing I can think of regarding getting saiyasat lifted over there. If you're coming back to Thailand, or S'Pore, in the near future, and you still feel that saiyasat has been done to you, and is still effecting you, then you can seek out a wisit or mor saiyasat to remove it. Enquiring at Hindu temples, Thai temples or Mosques would be the best starting place. Here's are some photos from 10 years ago. A Thai girl I knew at the time believed saiyasat had been done to her and she asked me to help her find someone to lift it. I located a temple near Pattaya and took her there. It happened that there was also another Thai girl there at the same time with similar issues. So the monk carried out a ritual with both of them and lifted the spells. -

OP which province does your ex GF come from? This is important as you need to know if you're dealing with Khmer or Muslim saiyasat. Those are the 2 strongest forms found in Thailand. I know a good deal about this as I'm a retired journalist and I carried out extensive research that was published in a couple of Thai magazines in the 1990s. I can offer you some guidance but first where's this gal from? -

Will Thailand have to get involved in the South China Sea tensions?
grain replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I did read about some Thai (Siamese) troops fighting in WW1. It was long ago and I can't recall the title of the book. But from memory it was written by a British officer who post-war was attached to some diplomatic posting in Thailand, and he recounted how he had first come into contact with Thais during the war, they were in a unit attached to French colonial forces. -

Not quite correct. Thailand certainly picked sides in WW2 and sided with the Axis and a declaration of war was sent to the USA. There were also Thai troops fighting in Vietnam. And I read long ago that some Siamese troops were fighting in Europe during WW1, from memory they were attached to the French Indo-China colonial forces.- 90 replies

Nightmare dealing with ANZ bank from Thailand.
grain replied to giddyup's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
A year ago I had to contact my bank (CBA) in Oz, I called on my mobile, waited 50 minutes to get someone to talk to, chewed up a whole bunch of my phone credit. Anyway the operator told me next time contact them via FB. So that's what I do now and get excellent service. I recently had to get a new card. I sent CBA a PM via FB, 5 minutes later I was discussing my situation with someone. Then they phoned me, checked me out with security questions, and my new card was posted to me in Thailand. So see if you can find ANZ on FB. -
20,000 baht on arrival requirement

I've never been asked, my hunch is it would greatly depend on one's appearance, a smartly dressed person would be highly unlikely to be checked for this, whereas someone who looked like they'd be begging on the streets for their next meal would in all likelihood be asked to show sufficient funds. -
Special Feature: What happens when a foreigner dies in Thailand???
grain replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So in my situation (as you are too) our Thai partners can legally handle all the issues of getting the legal docs to release the bodies for the temples? No need to involve family NOKs back in farangland? -
I live in Thailand and will use a Thai card, actually a SCB debit card. So it'll be THB.
-
I did contact them and the listed price was a lot more. But as you suggest I'll ask them to beat the Agoda price.
-
yes, thanks, I have seen when it takes me to the final page and there are taxes applied, but that price is still far cheaper that what the hotel is asking.
