  1. Well the only way to inform oneself is to talk directly with the land office, which she did. She couldn't take it any further without paying the fee. After paying the fee her application moved forward, and they told her it'll take place in 3 months. IMHO the mongrel should have made that clear before taking the fee.
  2. I tried numerous Linux distros late last year. Mint was the one I felt most comfortable with, and there were a few advantages over Windows, but the programs/apps that come with Linux were disappointing. Using all your favorite Win software on Linux isn't easy. In the end I eagerly returned to Windows. Warts and all it's the best OS for me.
  3. Tirak wants to build a wall to divide her land from the adjoining block. She's owned the land for 20 something years and has all the documents pertaining to ownership. The issue is she's not absolutely certain exactly where the boundary line is between her block and the neighbor's block. She knows approximately where it is but she's concerned if she gets the wall built and it's over on the neighbor's land a bit then there'll be problems. So today she went to the pak thong chai (Korat) amphur and applied to have someone come out and mark exactly where the boundary of her land is. She paid almost 5000 Bt fee, then after she paid the fee the mongrels informed her that someone will come and inspect the land in 3 months time. Trouble is we already have a builder lined up and have the blocks and posts ready to build the wall. We thought it would take a few days to get this decided not 3 damn months. So has anyone dealt with this issue before and if so what's the solution other than sitting around for 3 months?
  4. In your eagerness to jump in and say something nasty you completely miss the point. I wouldn't be in a low-life dump like that in the first place, therefore I wouldn't have a clue what was happening inside and wouldn't be in any position to do anything about it.
  5. Farang really should steer clear of these sorts of places, most of those rural karaoke bars are nothing more than shanty brothels with the roughest types of clientele, as was the case here with Burmese laborers dragging a girl into the toilet to pack rape her. You'd think the Swede's Thai GF would know better than to take everyone there for a birthday party.

    Isaan Woman

Reading some of these posts I must be super lucky. Been with my Isaan woman for 10 years, she's probably the nicest, kindest, most honest woman I've ever met. She's now 55 but in great shape, still slim, with a great figure, she looks after herself and her looks. I have no complaints at all and wouldn't consider leaving her for a second. I've lived in Thailand for a very long time and know that a woman with her character is hard to find here.
  7. I remember about 40 years ago, Ao Ton Sai beach at Koh Phi Phi was voted number 1 in the world, it doesn't even make this or any list any longer.
  8. Thanks, I'll stay with the wifi, actually no complaints about the speed. Previously I used a DTAC sim in my phone that gave 30mbps speed, and I hot spot my laptop and smart TV to my phone's wifi. Now with 3BB I have faster wifi, everything is faster, so no problems. I was just wondering why I paid for 1gb and was getting 50-60-70 mbps. But reading what everyone has posted here, I see now it's OK.
  9. My smart TV is a TCL, I checked last night and yes, 100mbps is the given speed.
  10. These are photos of what 3BB installed, the small black box that's plugged into the TV, and right outside, perhaps 2-3 meters away is the router.
  11. It happens often at that waterfall, many have fallen there over the years. Perhaps it's time to rig up some sort of lookout spot with railings that will prevent people from slipping over.
  12. wifi 2.4 no dongle but the router supplied by the 3BB installer a couple of weeks ago. Here's a pic of the test I just did. This is higher than other tests I've done recently.
  13. Had 3BB installed at our house in Korat recently. We have the 1gb/300 deal. So far I'm happy enough, everything I do if faster. But I've done numerous speed tests using different apps and they all show d/l speeds of 50mb/60mb/70mb, so where the hell is my other 900+? I don't understand, so is there a better way to test the speeds? We do live out in the boonies, so is that a factor? Or could something be wrong with the installation and we need to contact 3BB and have them come back out?
  14. Yes, if DIY that's best, do what you need to do in BKK, then head back to wherever and marry locally. But in the case I mentioned above that particular agency offered the complete streamlined process all in one day. You'd leave Pattaya early morning and return late afternoon legally married. From what I've read here it seems unlikely one could get it all done in a day any more, but you never know, a slick agent who has greased the wheels along the way could possibly still get it done.
  15. Yes even farang marrying farang in Thailand still need to have the translations done, the translation is for the Thailand staff and Thailand records.
  16. Several times I've brought packets of parsley seeds (both the flat Italian & the curly English parsley) from Australia to Thailand and attempted to grow parsley here, but nothing ever grows. Yet parsley does grow here. The other day I bought 2 big bags of beautiful dark green curly parsley in Big C at Khon Kaen. So what's the secret? What are the parsley growers who supply Big C doing that I'm not?
  17. I was considering remarrying about 12 years ago. I saw an agent in Pattaya and for around 15,000 Bt they offered a 1 day service. They told me they had a streamline service and knew the staff at all the places we had to deal with, they also took care of all the paperwork, they knew every step of the procedure. The deal was we would depart from agent's office early morning, drive to UK EMM in BKK to get the Affidavit. I would have to pay for that, the only extra charge, everything else was included in the 15,000 Bt fee. Then to their favorite translation service, then to the Ministry, then to the Amphur office, where they knew staff they regularly dealt with. Then drive back to Pattaya. All in 1 day. But as I said that was 12 years ago, and there's been the pandemic, so perhaps there are many changes now. It would still be worth checking with several agencies in Pattaya or BKK to see if any are still offering a fast streamlined service.
  18. Unless there have been changes since I had my Thai marriage, you need to go to your embassy and get a Affidavit of Freedom to Marry. That document then needs to be translated, then taken to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be certified. Then you go to the amphur and get married. If I was going to get married again I'd prefer to do it with an agency as there's a fair bit of running around involved, and I guess the agency fee includes a bit for palm greasing that'll get you faster service.
  19. I've actually gone off the idea now, after reading: "National Road 48 is being worked on. They are doing all of it at the same time. It's rough and very dusty and lots of trucks moving around." Plus the Insurance and License that you point out. Think we'll just remain in Thailand. Thanks anyway for your reply.
  20. Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated.
  21. Has anyone done this recently? I've done it a few times pre-covid and it was easy enough. I'm thinking about doing a short motoring trip to Koh Kong and maybe Sihanoukville sometime in the next few months, so wondering if there have been any changes? Anything I need to know before driving there?
  22. Despite what I said then I've now reverted back to Win 10. I'm working all day with music & image files, lots of cutting, pasting, renaming and resizing, all these functions I found more tedious on Win 11. Everything I want to do works very well with Win 10, at first I thought Win 11 was faster, but now using Win 10 again I haven't noticed any difference.
  23. I've lived in Thailand for many years, on retirement ext. The money will be used for living expenses in Thailand, I could consider buying a condo too, and I won't repatriate any of it. What I want to know doesn't really concern the Thailand end but the Australia end. Are there regulations about that amount, special forms/declarations, will their be deductions in Australia?
  24. Thanks for your reply. I'll check Wise. As for more details about my circumstances, well what more do you need? Aussie citizen, I have Aussie bank account, when I sell the flat I'll have approx $aud 300K paid into my CBA account and I want to know the easiest, fastest, least complicated way to get that money into my Thailand bank.
