We signed up yesterday, as it turns out they were offering a promotion on the day. 1GB/300 + a bunch of TV channels (several in English) for 420Bt a month X 24 months. They said there's a wait of 2 weeks before installation, but that's no problem as we're going on a 2 week holiday to Nong Khai and Lao. So after we return they'll do the install.

I want to go to VTE next week, has anyone recently (in last couple of months) left their car in a car park at Friendship Bridge Nong Khai? If so what is the current daily fee for a ute? and any other info much appreciated.

I've since heard back from a good friend who lives in Pattaya and has 3BB, no restrictions whatsoever, he's constantly installing new APKs and watching TV channels from all around the world.
-
Can any of you guys who have 3BB and smart TVs verify that you can still install APKs like RedBox TV or tubi and so forth, and watch UK, USA, Aust TV channels and movie channels?

Fistfight in Pattaya Leaves Australian Tourist With Head Injuries
grain replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Best advice is do not drink in the same bars as Thai men. Thai men drinking and foreign/tourist men drinking do not mix well at all. When I lived in Pattaya I never drank in any bar that had Thai men drinking. I'd drink in bars around Pattaya that were expat hangouts. I don't think there were even Thai men working in them, the entire staff would be women. Steer clear of Thai men, especially when they're drinking. -
OK thanks, good info and I'll check into this further when we talk with the 3BB company.

Cheers transam, my laptop will stay connected to my smartphone via its DTAC sim, that works fine, ditto wife who has her own DTAC sim purely for data. The 3 BB will be solely for the smart TV.
-
OK thanks, I'm getting a clearer picture now. Before I sign the deal with 3BB I'll check about which router they'll supply me. However, I'm not sure this is going to be a problem. I only want 3BB for the TV. My laptop is fine tethered to my smartphone with its unlimited DTAC sim. My smart TV is fairly new, we bought it about 2 years ago from Makro, it's in the bedroom, and the 3 BB router will also go in the bedroom. My wife also has a DTAC 1 year unlimited sim in her phone, so she won't need to connect to the 3 BB either. So if the 3 BB wifi barely covers the house that wouldn't matter, it's just for the TV.

I don't understand. If I sign up with 3BB don't they come and install everything and get me up and running ok? Are you suggesting that I should purchase my own 3BB router?

my smart TV is TCL, android OS

Thanks, that's a good tip, that would be nearly 700Bt discount, well worth getting.
-
OK thanks I'll go for the 1gb/500 deal, it's only slightly more expensive.
-
So how do I go about doing that research?

A couple more questions for everyone. How important is the unload speed? I see with 3 BB they offer 1gb/100, 1gb/500, 1gb/700, 1gb/1gb....as I want it for downloading only (streaming TV) and I'm not often uploading anything. Also I notice 3BB deals are now for 24 months. Can you still just commit to 12 months, or is it 24 only?
-
Yes the guy next door has TOT and he kindly gave me his PW so I could test it, the speeds are no higher that my current DTAC, and the constant stopping and buffering is still there. We'll be going into the 3 BB office on Tue and will be looking at their giga TV deal.
-
OK thanks guys, it's good to get feedback from you all, guess we'll go ahead and order it. How about the package deals 3 BB have, they include a bunch of TV channels in the package...anyone got any comments on that? I presume some of these TV channels are in English.

Yes, it's in the area, the people across the road have it.

I live out in the boonies of rural Pakthong Chai. For internet I use a DTAC sim, 30mbps unlimited data. I hotspot my smartphone and my laptop plus smart TV are connected to that. No complaints at all about the laptop. The smart TV however works great if I stick to YT, but when I watch other programs on RedBox TV or tubi and other such apps, then viewing becomes a problem with constant stops and those spinning circles. So would this be entirely a connection speed issue? And if so if I got 3BB with their 1gb download speed, would all be good? Or could the constant stops and spinning circles be due to other factors that may still exist even if I had 3 BB?

Buses and Fares from Swampy to Pattaya.
grain replied to NoshowJones's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Seems reasonable for a 120km AC bus ride, I guess you could save a few baht by going to Ekamai bus station and taking that bus, but 197Bt is a drop in the ocean compared to what you're going to be forking out once you hit Pattaya. -
I prefer Shopee. I've bought several things from them, and Lazada too, not a big difference between them but I've just found Shopee to be a bit better service, and faster replies.

"and she doesn't know what I want." And that is the key part of it. We ask the questions because we need the information, 9 times out of 10 our wives or GFs don't know what we're asking about, or have no interest, and if they act as unwilling translators we get the info second hand and often mangled.

My initial question about filters applied to the bore my wife uses that water for her garden. But the tank and pump setup we have is connected to the town water supply (nam prapa)

It backfires on them from time to time too mate. A few years ago I was driving between Korat and Khon Kaen. We were out in the sticks and ahead I saw a bus had broken down and the passengers were milling around at the side of the road. About 50 meters further ahead was a Thai man, his wife and a small kid. They were well dressed and the man was trying to wave down passing cars. Obviously they were in a hurry to get to KK, perhaps they had to get to work, or make another connection. Anyway, I pulled up and got half out my car and asked him where they were going (I speak Thai well). The man just looks at me. My Thai wife sitting in the car winds down her window, so seeing another Thai the man goes blah-blah-blah to her, totally ignoring me. So I got back in my car and drove off. I just thought fk you. You don't like talking with foreigners. Well the foreigner owns this car and the foreigner decides who gets into this car. If you had given me the courtesy of a reply/response your troubles would be over and you and your family would be sitting in a nice AC car on your way to KK. But you don't like talking to foreigners, so you're still standing out in the blazing sun at the side of a road...som nam nah.

Happened to me countless times too, it's the Thai Rak Thai thing. I noticed it immediately when I arrive at the airport 2 weeks ago, I asked a question to a woman at a counter in the airport, my Thai wife was standing behind me, the woman at the counter totally ignored me and began talking to my wife.

Has anyone here recently taken the train from VTE to LPB? If so I'd like to hear some current details/prices/times. We're thinking about doing this trip around mid March, so any current info would be useful.
