Taxi drivers urged to up their game ahead of Nov 1 tourist reopening
MrJ2U replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
In Phuket your better of renting your car at the airport. Enjoy your own transportation and freedom. Then return the car at the airport and go home. I do that and avoid the as* ho** taxi's and the eventual headache. Just dont drink and drive. If you plan on drinking get Grab -
I don't think Thailand is ready for opening. I don't trust the numbers they say have been vaccinated on top of total distrust of the Chinese vaccines and there ability. It's going to be an interesting month or two to say the least. I'm dying to go on holiday also but not literally. I'm vaccinated with Pfeizer but still waiting on my wifes Moderna. Enjoy your weekend!

I was kind of joking because Sakon Nakon is usually a forgotten province. Thank you for the information. Thats really very cool of you! -

Erawan Group announces sale of two Samui hotels to boost liquidity
MrJ2U replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Totally dead the last time I was next door at the JW marriott. The trouble is Mai Khao beach can be notoriously dangerous to swim at. These hotels were built before the Tsunami changed the area and the underlying seabed. Nice hotels but I preferred to stay at other beaches that are safer. Another thing is theres not much to do around there. Without a car your stuck at the resort. I imagine the asking price will be astronomical. -
Chinese tourists to return to Thailand - but not until late 2022
MrJ2U replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's been Known for over a year that the Chinese would be concentrating on domestic tourism. There also avoiding countries with low vaccine rates. Just because you bought a few million underperforming vaccines doesn't grant you Chinese tourists. I can't stand Chinese tourists. Loud, abrasive, and rude. -
61 people arrested after police raid bar on Sukhumvit Soi 23
MrJ2U replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Bangkok News
For sure with thousands of tourists coming in. There going to want to booze it up. .... They'll be plenty of Thais willing to risk a 20,000 baht fine to make a killing with pop up parties. -
Economist sees Thailand’s economy recovering next year
MrJ2U replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I hope he's wrong. Im enjoying the weaker baht, uncrowded beaches, and cheap hotels. Hotel rates are climbing fast. -
In the building foreground? ......Or the contaminated river?

Whatever gets dumped in Pattaya Bay is spread around the area with the current. Even Koh Larn, despite clear waters will have an unsafe bacterial count. Right now I'd go for a dip. It's great without the hordes of people not taking a duece in the water so to speak. I love Pattaya and Jomptien. I just wouldn't recommend it for a beach destination. .....Again I've swam in it I'm still alive and well. But I have had my hepatitis vaccinations. (strongly recommended).

How can i get a thai driving license ?
MrJ2U replied to bluebanana's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Bring someone who speaks Thai. Otherwise you'll be getting a lot of blank stares. -
Looking at some of the hotel prices in December it seems as though some hotel operators are expecting hordes of tourists again. They'll be disappointed. The hotels who offer reasonable rates will get the bulk of any tourism. Leaving the usual Thai owned hotels screaming for government help because no one stayed at there overpriced dumps.

So right. Ash literally falling from the sky. Going reason to wear a mask even if there wasn't a pandemic.

"PCD rolls out air pollution curbing measures". Nothing is going to change. Just drove by miles of sugar cane that will be burning in a month or two. Getting the air purifiers ready for another historical smoggy and very unhealthy air quality year in 2022.

Opinion: Rubber glove scandal a national embarrassment in the making
MrJ2U replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Dirty gloves. It's been going on for ages. I remember when Thammanats aides were caught exporting masks to China when you couldn't get masks or paid a kings ransom for them on Facebook. Wonderful government.
