you just go to visa agency and they charge an additional 5k for vax document.

But there would be shortage of vax, especially for foreigners, for many years. Thanx to dr Anutin.

The only reason the government will try to force vax on foreigners is for their money, not because

they do care about your health or health in the general population.

Still, herd immunity is around 70-80%, you can chose to be in those 20-30%. Especially, if you are not in a risk group.

I don't think herd immunity will work with COVID-19.

Even when vaccinated you can still carry a load of the virus.

Unvaccinated people will get the virus from vaccinated people.

Will see.  It seems years until the world reaches that magical herd immunity.  In the meantime expect different mutations and further waves.

They have probably done an antibody titer test - as the article suggests ('unit'). That's a quite good indicator based on current knowledge and could also be published. Still, it's preliminary.

You're talking about something like a phase 3 trial which cannot be done in a few weeks. Waiting a few months till those results could be in might not be smart either though. Besides, also phase 3 trial data is actually not sufficient to draw good, comparable conclusions. You'd also need daily tests and gene sequencing for those who are infected to check for variants. Both were not done for phase 3 trials for most vaccines including Pfizer/Biontech and Moderna.

That is a major concern.  There is very little data from Sinovac and Sinopharm despite being approved for emergency use in more than 54 countries.

We're booked for Moderna but hopefully Astra Zeneca will be more widely available up here in the North East.

The regular Thai villagers around here won't take Sinovac and are to poor to pay for Sinopharm.

In the provinces where most of the people live people struggle to get on a waiting list for a vaccination, while in the capitol city of Bangkok 50% of the population is inoculated.  In what other country would that be considered acceptable?

50% sounds high.  With a population of 10,250,000.

Does than include people vaccinated with just one dose?

I couldn't find any stats just for Bangkok.

    From the abstract:

We estimated the neutralization level for 50% protection against detectable SARS-CoV-2 infection to be 20.2% of the mean convalescent level (95% confidence interval (CI) = 14.4–28.4%). The estimated neutralization level required for 50% protection from severe infection was significantly lower (3% of the mean convalescent level; 95% CI = 0.7–13%, P = 0.0004). "

Could you put that in laymans terms. I think its saying " 50%" lower?

Spent the day at the main hospital with uncle

Very very quiet inside and out

Morer staff than patients , most of whom seem to be on their phones

BUT, one surpirse was  waiting for the lift to go back to the ward

as i entered, was joined by 2 staff, both dressed in full hazmat gear and a patient on a trolley

They leave the lift at the same floor, and then to my surprise, they wheel the covid patient through the normal ward, then through some doors into what has become the isolation ward for covid patients

Why on earth would anyone transport infected people through the lifts and wards that the public, and sick people use  ???

    Definitely not a good plan.

These government hospitals/clinics in Issan aren't suited for anything more than a runny nose or sprained ankle.

Its going to be worse than those pictures in India.

Basically a reiteration of the factual reality that the vaccination roll out that wasn't has permitted an uncontrolled spread. An 80% asymptomatic detection rate is very interesting. Certainly does not help in any hope of containment but is perhaps an indication that the Thai population has already acquired a level of resistance due to widespread exposure to an earlier variant?

    Interesting.

But the doomers here said it was failing, nobody was coming, it was turning into the zombie apocalypse.  Island of Dr. Moreau etc.  How could this be?  Is it possible the doomers are talking our of their spincters?

Watch a few popular YouTubers in Phuket.  It's DEAD.  I was watching Thailand Tony.  You can see some of his explorations from this week.

Saying that its absolutely beautiful without the crowds.  I'd love to play out the Pandemic in a resort by the beach.
