I doubt there are any one-way rentals...and the cost would likely be much higher. Private taxis and van shares to Bangkok are 10-20k.

Theres one way.  But your right and there definitely gauging.

I've included a few prices below Phuket airport to BKK airport.

For a family of four its about 2000.00 baht more than the "free" bus.

I know I would personally take an SUV to avoid a long bus in a bus with other people at this time during the pandemic.

I have an 20 month old baby and seven year old girl.  Its nice to stop when you want a Diaper change.

Prices below include insurance and taxes.

Searching Google and watching dodgy youtube videos while on the toilet with your pants around your ankles does not constitute research.

But you managed to get all the tin foil hat words into one post. Congratulations!

This guys trolling.  Nobody could be so stupid.

Funny about his research though taking an Ace.

You missed the point. It was a thought experiment that required you to assume that everyone in the room was infected.

Back to reality... because you don't know who is infected or not, we need to assume that everyone is. The early curfew has made the shops extra busy from 5 to 8 pm when they close, which will actually increase the spread, not reduce it. I was in the local 7Eleven a few hours ago and people were lined up at the counter. I will now change to 4 - 5am shopping.

Good idea for shopping at 4:00-5:00 am

She said the original felt like a really bad cold. She said delta felt like she had been hit by a truck. She was actually thinking she wasn’t going to make it. That’s how bad it was. Progressed to her lungs and put on a ventilator. Had her lying down on her front for some reason. Plus all the drugs. Once she was off the respirator, they asked if she wouldn’t mind moving back to a hotel so that others could use the room with a respirator. Plenty lined up to take her place.

yes, my plan was to meet her in Phuket in Jan. But that’s looking (optimistically) 50/50 at this stage.

    Thank goodness she pulled through.

    Be patient you'll get there.

    My gf was given:

    Favipiravir(200 mg /tab

    Lopinavir / ritonavir (LPV/r)

    Rendesivir

    Corticosteroid

and has to wait for 90 days to be vaccinated as this is her second time getting COVID-19 (original then delta). Although I’m told this is the case if you’ve been given “monoclonal antibodies” as well.

    COVID-19 twice.

    Mild or severe?

At least she can go to Phuket.

I can't understand being anti vax.

    THEY ARE PROVEN!

99% of COVID deaths are now of unvaccinated people, experts say

COVID cases and deaths are on the rise in what is now a "pandemic of the unvaccinated," the director of the CDC said.

this is scary. the outbreak seems much worse than what we are told.

400 out of 1000 are infected.

maybe time to leave thailand before the riots start.

Difficult and almost impossible with families and business here.

Hopefully get vaccinated sooner than later.  I've reserved and pre-paid for Moderna.  Unfortunately it looks like the government has already grabbed a few million.

Otherwise were staying close to home and avoiding crowds as much as possible.

Of course today Yai and my daughter went to the crowded temple for:

"Asalha Puja is a Theravada Buddhist festival which typically takes place in July, on the full moon of the month of Āsādha. It is celebrated in Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Laos, Myanmar and in countries with Theravada Buddhist populations". Wikipedia

As well as the little thing that people don't like being disenfranchised. Their chosen leaders keep being sent into exile or disbarred from politics because they don't bow to the army/families. The rice bowl maybe full but the feeling of being a pet animal that needs to know its place is one many will resent on principle.

    Millions of disenfranchised voters.

Up here in Issan there not very fond of the government.  It will be interesting how the next protests turn out.

The docile are very very far from exploding. Life for the Thai improved massively over the last 5 decades, and keeps improving. Yes, the wealth is distributed extremely unfair and uneven. And yes, the improvements go much slower then it could be. But there wont be any exploding whatsoever. For that most Thai see too much positive perspective.

    That's far from true.

    But here's some facts:

    Bangkok Post

    January 21, 2021

"Thailand's poverty ratio is expected to increase to 8.8% in 2020, up from 6.2% in 2019, before reducing to 8.4% this year, according to the global lender. The World Bank defines the poverty line at daily income of US$5.50 (165 baht) per person. ... This reduced the income of Thais," he said.

this is before the Third wave

What a total waste of time, if he was Thai nothing would have been done.

Around here a very small percentage of people are wearing masks, nothing is done about it.

Just another farang bashing episode, having said that the man is as fool for not wearing a mask.

The guy was a complete a** hole.  If he spoke to me like that I would have bashed his head in.

Nonsense post, neither cholroquine nor ivermectin are 'Trump drugs' and both a perfectly safe, unless you take a large overdose of chloroquine

Trump really hyped Chloroquine despite having no medical knowledge.

It's not much use for COVID-19.  Confused why Thailand is using it.

Your right though Trump didn't invent it although he strongly promoted it as a treatment for COVID-19.

Hydroxychloroquine does not reduce deaths from COVID-19, and probably does not reduce the number of people needing mechanical ventilation. Hydroxychloroquine caused more unwanted effects than a placebo treatment, though it did not appear to increase the number of serious unwanted effects.

That original post was very odd though. (Not yours)
