  1. Around B70-100. On the meter! Just open the back door and tell the driver where you're going, don't ask him "How much?", the meter will tell you that when to get to Mo Chit.
  2. I am not used to using taxis, the only taxis I have used I have just jumped in after asking the fare of course "...after asking the fare of course". Of course? That is not how to use taxis in Bangkok, the taxis you need to use have meters.
  3. Write a full report in Thai about the incident and request the amount that you would like from the BMA. Don't forget to include your bank details in order to receive the funds. When your request is ignored, as it will be, sue them. Or, save yourself a lot of money and just forget it.
  4. Absolutely no point in googling "bars for rent in Patong", then?
  5. As Wise is a Non-Reporting Entity, I believe that it does not.
  6. This. There is a detention area within the airport (guarded). I know, hence my post.
  7. Maybe. What if you can't pay? You'd be kept in custody at the airport until you could or, depending on the circumstances, the airline may be held responsible for providing a flight back to where you came from.
  8. No, not if you're simply denied entry, IDC could not be involved if you're not officially stamped into the country.
  9. Do QR code payments require electric power to be available? If the power is off the tills in most shops won't work either so the vendor wouldn't be able to scan the code of the items you're buying making cash no advantage, except, maybe, in local corner shops. This is 2023, not 1993, how often does anyone come across "dead cellular zones" or zones "down for maintenance"?
  10. Never come across a vendor of anything, anywhere, who gives change as "loads of coin", the most, and that would probably only be once in a blue moon, could only be the odd few baht that you just use at the next purchase and it's gone.
  11. The picture quality is bad. I assumed it was the shirtless victim. Looking again and trying to estimate the size of the figure from the assumed height of the window from the floor, I am not convinced that is a nine-year old girl. "I am not convinced that is a nine-year old girl". Watching the security video that was also in the full OP would have cleared that up for you! Whether you are convinced that it is the girl or not is neither here nor there.
  12. What is the relevance of US compensation settlements in Thailand? Are you claiming that the US government pays $1m compensation to shooting victims' families without a suit in court being filed? In which cases has that happened?
  13. "Typical Thai authourity response. Lets give them some money". So not providing compensation would show the authorities to be more sensitive and less "shallow"?
  14. ...plus B5m from Siam Paragon. No amount is sufficient compensation, though.
  15. With a permit carrying a firearm in public is permitted but carrying a firearm in plain view in public is prohibited.
  16. Do you think that posting about "topless 9-year old girls" and commenting on their chest size is something that a normal person would do particularly as the one in question was not topless?
  17. You are not considering the situation of intestate. Probate cannot be granted until IHT bill is settled and the beneficiary has to setup a short term bridging loan if needed. These are arranged via the solicitors usually. When I specifically refer to non-intestate situations, why would I need to consider to those who die intestate!? Why do you assert that beneficiaries "have to set up bridging loans"...that is nonsense in relation to IHT liability. If I am a beneficiary of an estate that is subject to IHT, I do not "have to get a bridging loan".
  18. Gifts exceeding the £3,000 annual exemption have to be declared on the individual's tax returns. HMRC knows and has its way of finding out if necessary.
