  1. "When Will All These Annoying Tourists <deleted> Off ?" The rumour is that they're all asking when will you "<deleted> off" (to use your own words) also? They have just as much right to be here, and to be annoying, as you do.
  2. You're not a Thai, then? Are you here voluntarily or did someone force you and your kids to come here? Do the authorities in your own country stop their traditional celebrations if temporary foreign visitors complain because they find them to be too much of an inconvenience? Didn't think so.
  3. This is what was actually reported, "the suspect was found by the Laotian authorities and arrested ahead of his deportation". What that means is the he was arrested pending deportation. Not such a "stupid sentence" after all, and certainly not as stupid as...well, never mind.
  4. I did not mention any figure on purpose so that I would get the reply you have just posted, and also I can not remember the exact figure, but it was far in excess of that required for card renewal! ... P.S. Your comment "can be checked, unlike your claim." I find in extremely bad taste! "I can not remember the exact figure, but it was far in excess of that required for card renewal!" I didn't think that you'd "be able to remember it". As I posted, and as has been reported in the press a number of times by the Bank of Thailand, balances of dormant accounts that were closed by banks are transferred to the BoT from where they can be claimed. If it was such a big deal, that's all you have to do, there's no need to keep whinging about "losing" it when it is not lost if you can provide the necessary identification to the BoT. "Your comment "can be checked, unlike your claim." I find in extremely bad taste!" I'm not concerned about your interpretation of my comment which was simply pointing out that your claim (that you will not back up with figures) cannot be checked; that is a fact. I'm not so stupid as to expect you to produce evidence from your deceased friend, obviously, but I was expecting that you could justify something that apparently concerns you as much as you claim it does and that was such a significant amount to "lose". My claim that dormant balances can be reclaimed from the BoT is also a fact, a fact that can, very easily, be checked.
  5. A foreigner can open an account with agric bank. Need WP, PPort, salary evidence, marriage cert, yellow book Thanks for that clarification, the bank's website does not mention account-opening requirements for foreigners.
  6. Not at Bangkok Bank, Central branch in Udon Thani they're not. PS: Account held at Bangkok Bank, Pattaya Sai 2 branch. You're trying to say that those counter transactions that normally require ID, i.e. ID card for Thais or a copy of a passport for foreign customers, are not required at that BBL branch? Foreign account holders do not need to have their identity confirmed? I believe that is a false statement.
  7. Have you tried registering with them? https://www.lazada.com.my Lazada delivers from China, why shouldn't deliveries from Malaysia be possible? Does that site have items that are not available from the Thai site? Edit: Ok, I just tried, you can't unless you have a Malaysian phone number to receive am SMS.
  8. Rightfully so. Some members never read the rules.
  9. "pop ups are unwanted and very very annoying, please stop". Complaints such as this are just as annoying, please stop, None of us pay anything for the "entertainment" provided by the forum so none of us can complain about the funding that the ads provide and that keep the forum online and free.
  10. As in the OP, I'm not referring to rebuilt write-offs but I understand what you're saying. Morally it would be a nice thing for a seller to do but that's just one of the downsides of buying a used vehicle, if I didn't check it out properly it would be my responsibility.
  11. Is it? You mean that it's mandated by law for vehicles that have been properly repaired and are legally on the road, i.e. not rebuilt write-offs? In which countries?
  12. Tell me who. You're the expert. Meanwhile I will stick to my own belief which I believe to be the truth. That would be "your truth". "Tell me who. You're the expert". No, I'm not "the expert" but at least I'm aware of what actually goes on in Thailand, it's not necessary to be an expert to do that. You can do your own research but here's a few to start...Joe Ferrari; the CEO of Ital-Thai; Social Development and Human Security minister Watana Muangsook; the police officer who got 50 years for taking bribes from soapies; a TAT governor (ex) is doing 50 years; a former minister was jailed for murdering a businessman in a fake car accident and stealing his stock assets...there's plenty more.
  13. Not entirely true. Your passport can "end" before an extension if it becomes full up. A passport full of stamps with no more space does not "end" or become invalid. A PP's expiry date is the expiry date shown in the PP!
  14. Lol. Only withdrawals. No, any counter transaction when the passport has to be presented. Cash deposits require ID also now.
  15. All the banks have been doing that for a long time. Just because the clerk doesn't announce it to the customer doesn't mean that they don't check when they copy your PP and that is every time you make any counter transaction.
  16. You're understanding is an assumption and is incorrect; deposits are guaranteed, that's why they had a huge increase in business after the DPA Act went into force.
  17. A Thai ID card is needed but if he gets past that obstacle there are around 700 branches, i.e. more than SCB or Krungsri, so there shouldn't b much difficulty in finding one.
  18. Neither of these is covered by the DPA. In fact, none of the 100% government owned banks is covered. It is not just that "they are not covered", they do not need to be covered by the DPA Act as they (the government) guarantee 100% of depositors' funds (at least the GSB specifies that it does).
  19. Exactly. Er, no, not "exactly". He's right that the King is the major shareholder but that bank's S&P rating has recently been reduced. To to below BBL and Krungsri, for instance
