  1. At home in Aberdeen perhaps????? So Mr. Trump, being denied the opportunity if not the right to offer an alibi defense by no exact date of the alleged offense being giving, is OK by some of the Members on here?
  2. So nobody can say: You didn't give us enough time to make proper security arrangements. from the letter linked above from DA Willis to the Fulton County Sheriff: As leaders, it is incumbent upon us to prepare.
  3. From the letter linked above: (DA Willis) will be announcing charging decisions resulting from this investigation during Fulton County Superior Court’s fourth term of court, which will begin on July 11, 2023, and conclude on September 1, 2023.
  4. Also from Business Insider 04MAY2023 Trump won't call any witnesses to defend him in E. Jean Carroll rape trial, his lawyer says "There are no witnesses to call to prove a negative. Other than saying I didn't do it, which he said he is being sued for, he has denied it. There is nothing else he could say," Tacopina said in his opening statement last week. "He wasn't there. He didn't do it." https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-trial-no-witnesses-testify-defense-rape-e-jean-carroll-2023-5
  5. Earlier Wednesday, Tacopina told Judge Lewis Kaplan that Trump will not mount a defense in the case. Tacopina told the judge that he had decided not to call an expert witness that had been expected to testify for the defense. "We're not going to move forward," Tacopina said. https://abcnews.go.com/US/psychologist-testifies-trump-rape-accuser-jean-carroll-elements/story?id=99041556 For one thing, she says she does not remember the exact date of the encounter. ... But without a specific date, Tacopina told the jurors in his opening statement on Tuesday, it is impossible for Trump to prove his innocence. “She doesn’t want to give Donald Trump the opportunity to provide an alibi,” he said. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2023/04/trump-rape-lawsuit-e-jean-carroll-joe-tacopina.html
  6. This is the actual letter referenced in OP dated 24 APR 2023: https://s3.documentcloud.org/documents/23787480/letter-from-willis-to-law-enforcement-on-trump-grand-jury.pdf
  7. Appeals The losing party in a decision by a trial court in the federal courts normally is entitled to appeal the decision to a federal court of appeals. Civil Case Either side may appeal the verdict. https://www.uscourts.gov/about-federal-courts/types-cases/appeals
  8. A close friend of E Jean Carroll has told a New York jury that she received a distressed call from the advice columnist within minutes of Donald Trump allegedly raping her. Lisa Birnbach testified at Carroll’s civil action against the former president on Tuesday that she was feeding her children at home when Carroll called “breathless, hyperventilating, emotional” in the spring of 1996. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/may/02/trump-rape-trial-lisa-birnbach-testimony Also: On the same day as testimony from Lisa Birnbach, who described a 1996 phone conversation with Carroll after the alleged incident, Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina told U.S. District Court Judge Lewis Kaplan that his client would not be testifying at the trial. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/friend-testifies-e-jean-carroll-called-minutes-alleged-trump-attack-rcna82437 So it seems no lawyer on either side will be asking Mr. Trump if he were to testify in person at the trial: So Mr. Trump, where were YOU in the spring of 1996?
  9. This is from the actual complaint filed in Federal Court 11/24/22 by Ms. Carroll's attorneys: FACTUAL ALLEGATIONS I. TRUMP RAPES CARROLL AT BERGDORF GOODMAN 18. One evening between the fall of 1995 and the spring of 1996, Carroll left work and went to Bergdorf Goodman, the luxury department store on Fifth Avenue in New York City. She was and remains a regular shopper at Bergdorf’s. It also states in the complaint: 9. Carroll is a journalist. So, as a journalist, no contemporaneous notes from such an event? https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.nysd.590045/gov.uscourts.nysd.590045.1.0_1.pdf
  10. From Ms. Carroll's attorney's opening statement: In her opening statement, Carroll attorney Shawn Crowley suggested the lack of specificity doesn’t matter. “While Ms. Carroll doesn’t remember exactly when this happened, she remembers almost every detail of what happened, and her testimony alone will be enough for you to find Donald Trump liable in this case,” Crowley said. In later response to a Trump's attorney query: “This question, the when, the when, the date, has been something I’ve constantly trying to pin down,” Carroll said. https://955wtvy.com/national/2023-04-26-e-jean-carroll-testifying-in-civil-case-says-she-cant-recall-date-of-alleged-trump-attack/
  11. Saudi Arabia's crown prince once bragged Jared Kushner was 'in his pocket'. It's getting harder to convince people otherwise. Feb 17, 2023 The vast payment to Kushner's company certainly has the appearance of a reward, John Pelissero, an expert on government ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University, told Insider. "Whereas it is not clear if Kushner was trading on his former government position and contacts to obtain a financial benefit from a sovereign wealth fund to help launch his new company, reasonable people may believe that is what took place," he said. https://www.businessinsider.com/jared-kushner-cozy-relationship-saudi-arabia-mbs-crown-prince-concerns-2023-2
  12. I think maybe some on here are looking for a repeat of the bombshell announcement -- and to any of us who remembered it that day, that's what is was -- of President LBJ on March 31, 1968: "I shall not seek, and I will not accept, the nomination of my party for another term as your president."
  13. That's OK. I am waiting for the Georgia Fulton County DA's actions as the last 4 trips I took to USA before Covid involved long travels in rural Georgia -- where Trump held lots of rallies -- after landing into Atlanta from Seoul.
  14. Even if convicted of a felony that would ordinarily incur jail time, that ex-President Trump is guaranteed lifetime Secret Service protection makes jail time unlikely.
  15. I am certainly no fan of Trump and first became familiar with his antics while I was living in New York City mid-1970's. I just think there are sufficient holes in the case so that a juror might really feel uncomfortable issuing a guilty verdict whether they believe the alleged rape occurred or not.
  16. And unlike a criminal trial, in a civil trial the jury can make such an inference.
  17. Trump is not obligated to appear in court as the defendant in a civil trial. But the judge has ruled that the bulk of his video deposition can be played for the jurors. << Trump is unlikely to testify in his own defense, but will rely on previous denials including in a video deposition taken last October in this case, Tacopina also suggested. “There’s absolutely nothing more for him to add,” the lawyer said. “I don’t want to distract from the focus of her story.” https://edition.cnn.com/2023/04/25/politics/carroll-trump-trial-day-one/index.html
  18. How can they offer an alibi the they don't know on what date they have to determine his presence which could have been anywhere in the world? PerNYTimes.com 25APR2023 (Joseph Tacopina, a lawyer for former President Donald J. Trump) repeated throughout his opening statement that Ms. Carroll couldn’t tell the jury the day, month, season or year the attack happened. He said that made it impossible for Mr. Trump to offer an alibi.
  19. Whether true or not, not having an exact date deprives the defense of offering an alibi.
  20. In this case, regardless of Ms. Carroll's testimony, I think the jury may have a real hard time dealing with Ms. Carroll's saying she doesn't know when the attack in question actually occurred. As Trump's lawyer has said, how can Trump provide an alibi defense when he doesn't even know when the alleged attack occurred. "Carroll is suing Trump for battery and defamation, alleging that he raped her in a Bergdorf Goodman dressing room in the spring of 1996 ..." https://edition.cnn.com/2023/04/26/politics/e-jean-carroll-trump-lawsuit-testimony/index.html
  21. From the Thaiger link in the OP: Susan said that Richardson’s insurance didn’t pay out because anyone who rents a motorbike above 50cc must have completed a bike competency test in the UK, which he didn’t know because the shop that rented him the bike only asked for his money and driving license.
  22. I figure because that was DJT's home for the fist 73 years of his life.
