  1. After exiting Trump election interference case, Nathan Wade has a lot to say Pending appeal hasn’t stopped ex-special prosecutor’s media blitz 21 hours ago Wade’s romance with Willis nearly upended Fulton County’s election interference case against former President Donald Trump — and still could, if an appeals court sides with the defense. After he resigned, some thought the former special prosecutor would keep a low profile. Instead, Wade has grabbed the spotlight with a blitz of national interviews even as the Georgia Court of Appeals is scrutinizing whether his relationship with the DA should disqualify her from the case. Nathan Wade: "I’m not responsible for delay of Fulton Trump case." It isn’t sitting well with some Willis allies. “I think it is an unnecessary distraction and disrespectful to both the process and the DA for Mr. Wade to be giving interviews at this time,” former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin said. “And how can that be a positive thing for the Fulton DA’s office — I think it would be a constant worry that some internal deliberations might get slipped on national television,” Georgia State University Law School Professor Anthony Michael Kreis said in a post on X. https://www.ajc.com/politics/after-exiting-fulton-trump-case-nathan-wade-has-a-lot-to-say/7N5DEZSWVJHQTDC3SCACT7PZYY/

  3. No. Why the confusion? He asked a question. I answered.
  4. Sure but if the 'major issue' had occurred earlier rather than later before you had saved 'over the years' the scenario might have been different. As I have said elsewhere, one big reason I use health insurance is that my finances are such that an annual premium is readily doable while coming up with a big lump sum payment would not be so readily doable.
  5. I will say so again -- Ms. Willis for all the qualities you list above was tone deaf that the ongoing peccadilloes with Wade could derail the case. Even in MS. Willis' filing to dismiss the case at the Appeals Court, she has to say what was the root of it all: ATLANTA, Ga. Updated: Jun. 13, 2024 (Atlanta News First) - Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has filed a motion to dismiss an appeal that could remove her and her office from prosecuting former President Donald Trump and his GOP allies in connection to an attempt to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election. In the motion, Willis argued the appeal should be dismissed “due to the lack of sufficient evidence.” The push to remove Willis from the case came after an explosive court filing brought to light the district attorney’s relationship with now-former Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade.
  6. BS she never saw it coming until it was too late.
  7. Fani T. Willis, the Fulton County, Ga., district attorney who this week announced racketeering charges against Mr. Trump, accusing him of orchestrating a “criminal enterprise” to reverse Georgia’s election results, wants that trial to begin on March 4 (2024) (the day before Super Tuesday). https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/18/nyregion/trump-indictments-trial-2024-election.html And that the case as now may be lucky to be heard before March 4, 2025 shows that she was not ready for prime time. And to note this whole brouhaha resulting in Ms. Merchant filing her removal brief in Jan 08,2024 on behalf of her client Michael Roman came about because in Nathan Wade's divorce proceedings, it was noted that he bought airline tickets for himself and one Ms. Fani Willis.
  8. No problem -- you got your Mahoney zinger in for the day.
  9. Sure. As long as Ms. Willis or Mr. Wade is on the case but not both: Georgia judge scolds Willis in scathing Trump decision 03/15/24 Georgia Judge Scott McAfee has provided a pathway for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) to move forward with criminally prosecuting former President Trump, but he also gave her a scolding reprimand over a romance with a top prosecutor. McAfee said Trump’s election interference case can proceed with Willis at the helm so long as her once-romantic partner, special prosecutor Nathan Wade, steps aside. But his 23-page decision went on to criticize the district attorney at multiple turns — both over the romance itself and her public comments — saying Willis created an appearance of a conflict. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4534665-georgia-judge-willis-trump-wade/ And note that Judge McAfee's decision to allow Ms. Willis to remain is now being appealed at the Georgia Appeals Court. Appeals court halts Trump’s criminal proceedings in Georgia amid scrutiny of Fani Willis The order effectively confirms that Trump’s Georgia trial cannot occur before the election. 06/05/2024 05:34 PM EDT A Georgia appeals court has halted all pretrial proceedings in Donald Trump’s Atlanta-based criminal case while a three-judge panel considers whether to disqualify the lead prosecutor, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. That appeal is scheduled for oral arguments on Oct. 4, with a decision from the appellate court likely to take several months after that. https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/05/trumps-criminal-trial-georgia-willis-00161883
  10. I said "look at the name" as in print.
  11. It isn't how she pronounces it -- it's how other people pronounce that seems to get on her. And the thing it has to do with Trump is whether she will remain on the case although that would seem more likely than not -- just that it will take a while for that to resolve.
  12. If Justice Thomas were a Federal Appellate Court judge there would multiple means to have him removed from conflicting cases or just plain removed. But for a sitting US Supreme Court Justice, there is not.
  13. You would think Giuiliani would have noted the 2007 Don Imus 'ho' eruption: In a 2018 interview before he retired, Don Imus said he regretted calling the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed hos." NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ Mon, Dec 30, 2019 — Famed radio host Don Imus, who died this past Friday at the age of 79, had few regrets in his illustrious 50-year career. Except for that "Rutgers thing." Right before he was about to retire in March of 2018, Imus gave this interview to CBS' Anthony Mason, where he spoke about his work on the airways as a professional flame-thrower and agent provocateur. Imus told Mason he'd been fired four times in his career, the most recent being in 2007, when he infamously called the members of the Rutgers women's basketball team "nappy headed hos." He was fired over the comments, and his career never fully recovered. https://patch.com/new-jersey/newbrunswick/rutgers-thing-one-imus-few-regrets-he-told-interviewer
  14. Per Wikipedia: Fani Taifa Willis (née Floyd; /fɑːniː/, FAH-nee; Crude comments are not, or ever, justified but it's a weird spelling for someone who is sensitive over how her name is pronounced.
  15. She was recused as far as Jones is concerned: Judge blocks Georgia DA from developing case against Republican state senator in Trump investigation Mon July 25, 2022 -- In his ruling, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney said Willis’ office may “ask witnesses about the Senator’s role in the various efforts the State Republican party undertook to call into question the legitimacy of the results of the election. What her office may not do is make sure of any such evidence to develop a case against the Senator (Burt Jones).” Last week, McBurney criticized Willis during a hearing for hosting the fundraiser for the Democratic candidate. “It’s a ‘What are you thinking’ moment,” he said at the time. “The optics are horrific.” The Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia can select a replacement district attorney’s office that can question Jones, according to Georgia law. https://edition.cnn.com/2022/07/25/politics/georgia-willis-jones-grand-jury/index.html
  16. Including Judge Robert McBurney when he admonished Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in 2022 for hosting a fundraiser for a political opponent of Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, when McBurney declared it a “what-were-you-thinking moment.”
  17. There is no way the average person can look at the name and know it's supposed to be pronounced Fah-nee.
  18. Kinda like the song "A boy named Sue". If her father wanted her name to be pronounced as Fah-Nee, maybe he should've named her Fahnee.

  20. I liked De Niro's line as someone who also lived in NY city in the mid-1970's: "We New Yorkers used to tolerate him when he was just another grubby real estate hustler masquerading as a big shot, a two-bit playboy lying his way into the tabloids," he said. "A clown...No one took him seriously. They take him seriously now." https://www.reuters.com/world/us/robert-de-niro-calls-trump-clown-outside-trial-biden-campaign-message-2024-05-28/
  21. And just to expand on the above, one reason that Team Carroll wanted to expedite any oral hearing is that she is 80 years old and should not have to endure unnecessary delay. Team Trump replied, what's the big hurry now? You waited about 23 years before filing any claim. And as above: Motion (by Carroll) DENIED
  22. The issues raised by Professor Germain regarding Judge Merchan's jury instructions give some indication of likely elements of Trump's future appeal.
  23. Jury Instructions Are Very Favorable To Donald Trump Prosecutors—Attorney Published May 30, 2024 at 7:47 AM EDT Greg Germain, a professor at Syracuse University College of Law in New York, said Judge Juan Merchan's instructions to the jury, before they began deliberations on Wednesday, did not explain that the falsified documents at the center of the case related to crimes that Trump allegedly committed. "The judge let the prosecution have multiple theories: tax fraud, campaign finance violation, or another document falsified, and didn't make it clear how the fraud and separate crime must relate to the documents charge," Germain told Newsweek. "The jurors asked to hear the jury instructions again. The jury instructions are so favorable to the prosecution, and so unclear about what the jurors have to find to convict, that I expect they are very confused about what the case is about," Germain said. Germain said that the judge has let the prosecution offer far too many theories on why there are falsified documents in the case. https://www.newsweek.com/jury-instructions-favorable-donald-trump-hush-money-trial-1906154
