  1. Thanks, Mr. Spider. Sometimes you hear musicians say: I didn't leave music -- music left me. For me the US was just no longer a fit. Not on the macro basis; just for me. And I have no desire to go back.
  2. Maybe so but you're still here living in what has been described above as a cesspool.
  3. Sorry to hear that -- you should have stuck with your wife and daughter in the Berkshires.
  4. I am not wealthy but I don't know that I'd want to live in any place I considered a cesspool
  5. So if you were 'wealthier' but not ultra-wealthy, what would be your top 3 places you would want to live?
  6. When the NY Times has as one of its post-debate headlines: A Fumbling Performance, and a Panicking Party President Biden’s shaky, halting debate performance has top Democrats talking about replacing him on the ticket. -- this cannot be said to be good.
  7. 'Duh' folder is good. I sometimes just think of this quote from Good Morning, Vietnam for certain persons: General Taylor: (Sgt. Major Dickerson), I've covered for you a lot of times cause I thought you were a little crazy. But you're not crazy, you're mean. And this is just radio.
  8. (Just replying to the general topic) US Ambassador to Thailand Robert Frank Godec (a very pleasant gent) held a meet & greet in Ubon Ratchathani yesterday. He had these 2 comments among others: He and his staff are having discussions with Thai Revenue about the impact of any possible revisions regarding taxes on Thai resident US citizen remittances to Thailand but there is nothing conclusive that he could report at this time. The Thai government is also in discussions with with Ambassador Godec and his staff as to how to provide incentives for wealthier-type individuals to retire in Thailand. Go figure.
  9. And some people are likely the kind of people who are loose as to the application information they supplied to the insurance companies that catches up with them when they file for a claim as in topics here on AN/TV here as to "how can they find out?"
  10. So in other words, those without health insurance should self-insure, and Those with health insurance should self- insure. Thanks.
  11. So was this a helpful suggestion or just another one of your zingers supposedly at my expense?
  12. Yes -- but I mostly meant in terms of family or collegial support.
  13. For any Medicare-enrolled US citizen, Medicare is available (to varying degrees and at varying expense) upon return to the US. For myself, however, I would have zero support for any long-term care type situation which is a major reason I am here in Thailand faults and all.
  14. I guess editing is difficult when you use a speech-to-text app.
  15. Sure and thanks for letting us know about your member.
  16. Wow that's almost as stale as your 'ask 2 lawyers get 5 opinions' comment.
  17. Some probably do but your helpful 'brother' comment was #3 on page1 18 minutes after the OP.
  18. Like saying nice of you to buy a house for her and her brother but you say it anyway.
  19. Maybe grab the nearest beer bottle and smash it over the guys head. But barroom fights are unheard of in Thailand hot spots.
  20. I think some people live online in put-down or gotcha mode and their offline persona is the nice one because, if they acted in person as they act online, they may not live very long. Would you walk into a bar and say to an older farang with a lovely young Thai female: How long does she think she has to put up with a has-been like you until you die and she gets all your money? But on the internet social web, routine.
  21. Some live by the maxim: If you don't have anything nice to say, say it anyway.
  22. Why shouldn't the new house be in her or her family's name? They paid for it. I just rent it from them.
  23. No big deal as long as you remain the Ship's Purser.
  24. So to the guy before any girl you marry brings along her 'brother' wink-wink -- so why not her sisters?
