Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Lorry replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
From that link: "Mr. Luca Bernardinetti A third generation Italian lawyer, Luca Bernardinetti is Chairman and Managing Partner of the Mahanakorn Partners Group. He leads the Banking and Finance division at MPG, which provides trade, corporate and project finance advice, as well as legal advice for cross-border financing. Over the past 20 years, Luca has led his team in structuring equity and debt financing for infrastructure and public-private partnership projects, working with highly rated banks and insurance providers. Under his expertise and leadership, MPG has successfully undertaken several complex financing transactions, assisting private multinationals, state owned enterprises, and government agencies, to secure multi billion dollar lines of credit for infrastructure development projects. Apart from his roles at MPG, he is the former President of the European Chamber of Commerce (EABC), member of the ICC Banking Commission, and Chairman of the Business Economics Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) in Thailand, and is a member of the Board of the Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce. He frequently lectures at ASEAN universities, including the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand (at the business and law schools). Over the past decade or so, he has been interviewed by several prominent global news outlets, such as BBC World Business Report, CNN and The New York Times, and several other respected forums, on matters of business, economics, and finance, and is seen as a competent and talented international legal advisor and commentator." So, he may not be a Thai tax lawyer, but he probably knows a lot more about thai tax than I -

The TRD has said more than once, eg in the video with the Swiss embassy, that all these things are considered remittances. You are very wrong. This has been discussed in the old main tax thread (the one with 200+ pages) -
Can I Get my Money Out of Thailand?
Lorry replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Strange. You got a FET when you bought your condo. You sell the condo and can send the funds abroad without showing this same FET? And you can then use this FET to get other funds out of Thailand, eg 800,000 if you want to leave forever? -

Thx -
Sounds good. In which country or at which bank is it so easy to generate or cancel virtual cards? AFAIK K-bank offers virtual cards. I never looked into it because I expected the usual Thai bureaucracy, like, "we need a hand-drawn map in blue color of your grandfathers ricefields". The way you describe it seems really good.

Some Germans with a similar problem (in their case, regarding taxation of pensions) have their embassy write them a letter that the TRD will only issue document XYZ and not the document the German tax office wants. With this embassy letter, the German tax office is satisfied -
Experience with Bangkok Phuket Hospital Orthopedic Surgery?
Lorry replied to Ebumbu's topic in Health and Medicine
Very true. I wouldn't do this in Phuket. BTW 250k is a very reasonable price. Physical therapy after the operation is just as important as the operation itself. Most PT departments in Bangkok are not good. Good ones are at St Louis (about 1000 B) and Bumrungrad (double the price). I know more useless ones, suffice it to say some are in very renowned hospitals. -
I don't think there are any rules. I used to show them a lease agreement from 2009 that was a 1- year lease. It had about 10 pages and on page 1 or 2 it stated that the lease would terminate 2010. I used it at CW year after year. Ir didn't even occur to me that this was a bit weird. Neither me nor my landlord bothered to set up a new lease agreement, i just continued to live there. IO never saw a problem, either. TIT not Singapore or Switzerland, which is good.

Their infectious disease doctor who usually deals with farang is Dr Siriporn. Recommended. -
13 years ago, LEEP done by Dr Panon at Samittivej was 80,000. Hence my guess it will be more now. At the time, Bumrungrad and Bangkok Hospital were about 45,000. Colposcopy done by Dr Panon was 8000 or 10000. Cosultation was not much, as you said.

Yes, but it's very improbable that this is malaria. Especially as he probably hasn't been jungle trekking in Myanmar or Cambodia recently -
Best and most expensive: Dr Panon, Samitivej Sukhumvit Quite a bit more than 75k Available at most hospitals that offer OB/Gyn Recommended and and about the cheapest: Chulalongkorn Hospital Reckon about 10k Easy if your friend is Thai. She will need a friend to go with her and to take care of her on the day of the procedure. Any farang wil do, doesn't have to be Thai. Cheapest: the hospital where she registered for the 30B scheme. Free. This is not something you do on the spot Any place who does it will want to see the examination results so far, and maybe require more checkups. It does take time.

I don't know the tests LifeCare performs but STDs should show up in the urine (PCR) -
The way to handle this: Ask (better have your Thai friend ask) innocently "Oh, that's expensive? Is it more expensive than normal because ... (add something stupid, like "it's a holiday")?" Then friendly offer 350 baht. He probably will agree. You can also, in the meantime, take a picture of the yellow sign with his name and of the taxi number, usual written on the side door (inside the car). And you can discuss with your friend - for the driver to hear - that the number 1584 speaks English, right? (I would be too lazy to actually call them, but the drivers fear 1584) Of course, when starting you should have checked that the meter is running and starts at 35. Starting the meter much earlier than the trip would be a very unusual scam in Samut Prakan, where most customers are Thai. Or did you start at a popular tourist spot? In that case, that was your original mistake.

At the time you are having a fever, get a thorough check-up in a hospital, not just LifeCare. At the time you have a fever it's hard to believe all other values will be normal. Also chest X-ray, respiratory panel, abdomen ultrasound, blood cultures, heart echo. All to be done when you are having a fever. Bring the results from LifeCare as comparison and because some examinations don't have be repeated. Do an ATK for covid first, from 7/11 These episodes (this is the third episode, right?) may not be related, but could be, and it can be many things. Pattaya Memorial Hospital, or if money is no object, Bangkok Hospital.
