What "worldwide taxation rules" are these? Are they written in any law? These are not the rules in my home country. I hope TRD knows and follows these rules. But aren't they almost exactly the rules they had until 2023? "You can remit your income just in the next calendar year, and it's tax free?" And didn't they abolish exactly this? Just to re-introduce it through mysterious "worldwide rules"? You are saying: I get income in, let's say, 2024, pay home country taxes on it in 2025 and can than remit it as savings tax-free to Thailand? DTA not necessary? Sorry, this is absurd. Or do I misunderstand something?

Sorry, this is hilarious. You are very, very wrong. @sometimewoodworker is right about this. Income doesn't "become savings". I don't know where you and others get this absurd idea from, that income isn't income anymore, once you have paid some local taxes. It has become "net income" or "income after taxes", but it's still income. If some government agency of your home country asks " what was your income in the year 20xx?", at least in my home country I cannot say, "oh, in 20xx I had no income, because I paid my taxes already" And if said government agency tells me to give them 20% of my income of 20xx, I am not happy, but I have to give it to them. There is a very strong tendency in all tax threads to wishful thinking. Dangerous and can be expensive.

Maybe they see it the other way: Mass immigration is already happening, the Russians are here already. DTV can legalize them, similar to when they legalized millions of Burmese immigrants. Same for the Chinese, many are here already and millions are supposed to come (not only railway workers, why else did China get the land along the new railway lines). So here is a legal framework. Which other immigrants will come? Western digital nomads are tens of thousands, that's enough to swamp some islands, but hardly mass immigration. I don't care so much about statistical health risks. Before, I have never looked at the statistics above (rumak's "real world" motivated me ). I might ignore them. But smog season in Bangkok is just too "in your face" for me to ignore it. I see the smog from my window when I wake up. I smell it when I go out. I taste it when I open my mouth.
