  1. I always thought that people don't go to the Walking Street to look at the cable mess. Obviously I was wrong.
  2. I've seen farangs here in Pattaya collecting bottles and eating other people's leftovers in the food courts. Living here as a tourist based on a Retirement Extension is not free. In my opinion, the biggest challenge is health insurance. It gets more and more expensive as you get older. And maybe they won't accept you anymore or only with so many exclusions that it doesn't make any sense to have one. No problem - as long as you don't get sick. But then...
  3. "and was seen wandering around, splashing water at passersby and behaving in a disturbing and aggressive manner." Perhaps he thought we have the famous Songkran festival. Many behave like this then...
  4. What do we learn from it? - - > Don't play with an Indian female in the pool.
  5. People like you not caring about prices are fueling the inflation. I am not poor and I could spend a lot. But spending money doesn't make me happy. If I can save some Bath this makes me happy even if it doesn't make any sense financially. It is a kind of reward if I buy something. And I have the feeling that I did not get ripped off - at least not too much. Am I a Cheap Charlie? No, I have a good life here and I tell you this after almost 3 decades here. I just don't waste my money.
  6. The "funny" thing is that according to the government there is little inflation in Thailand. But I see massive price increases at many products. On the other other hand the EZB and other central banks do the same. They steal your savings... ????????????
  7. Simply paint the lawn green. They do this in California.
  8. "No rain forecast for most of Thailand in July" And now to the lottery numbers for the next drawing... From my personal experience the weather forecasts here are often completely wrong.
  9. Bigger trays are cheaper. But I don't need so many. What I do that they hold very long is written below. And this procedure seems to stop aging almost completely from my experience. Just be careful that you put them back into the tray with the bigger side up again (where the air is). They should be in the tray like this when you buy them.
  10. Since I had Dengue already I studied this problem in more detail. The problem with Dengue is the following. Let's say you had Dengue with strain 1 (there are 4). If you get strain 1 again you have luck. Your body is prepared to fight against it. If you get a different strain then it can get problematic. Your body tries to fight against it with the antibodies for strain 1. It uses the wrong immune response and this is where the problems start. Is there vaccination? Yes for instance Denguevaxia. A long story... If you never had Dengue before it can increase the risk of complications (see my strain remarks before). And then there is for instance the Qdenga vaccination. Read here for more information about Dengue and vaccination: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dengue_vaccine
  11. That's right. The retirement extension is a better tourist visa that is granted year after year. Another challenge for retirement here is health insurance and future legislative changes. None of this has anything to do with retirement. It is a simple tourist visa. Regarding overstayers and criminals. The Thai government and the Thai people could get fed up with such problem foreigners and limit opportunities for foreigners in general.
  12. A common practice for solving problems together with others.
  13. Dengue is no fun especially if you get it a second time with a different Dengue strain. And it happens only in remote areas? No, I got it in Central Pattaya some years ago. I should not stay in a Dengue country now anymore... It is dangerous for me. I know.
  14. From the original article: "She also claimed that law enforcement often used vague Thai alcohol laws as a way to collect bribes and encourage corruption, especially from bars and night clubs" Many laws here in Thailand are used for bribes and corruption. So remove all these laws? Why not remove the corruption?!
  15. Not so long ago most (all?) 7/11 here in Pattaya didn't care about selling restrictions (but they obeyed on religious holidays and election days). Not sure what changed. Perhaps they should talk to the entertainment venue operators that still don't (have to) care.
  16. There are many countries that require the registration of residents: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resident_registration
  17. No, not all foreigners here are the tip of an iceberg that is created by people that don't care about laws. These people create problems for all other foreigners here that follow rules and regulations. The bad thing is that such unlawful people often try to pay Thais so that they can remain undetected as long as they pay. Criminals on both sides...
  18. Now I understand it. Yes, that makes sense. That's why I recommend people who want to use it in their home to test it intensively on site beforehand. A friend of mine put the router on the balcony because that's where he gets the best results (weatherproof of course ) ????.
  19. You do them at the same location and here I am also talking about the same location inside the building?
  20. I know several people including myself that use the Thunder and this for a long time. I have never seen such speed fluctuations. What are you doing with it?
  21. Really great story. Thank you for sharing it with us. I see so many businesses owned by Farangs here in Pattaya (bars mostly). But I never understood their motivation. I don't know any of them personally. But it may be easier to start/run a business and make more money in their home country. At least this is what I think. What was your motivation for doing this in Thailand? What are your long term plans? Stay here 'til the end of your days or do you plan to sell it for a profit one day? And then what?
  22. For some people wars bring enormous gains. First the taxpayers pay for the war and then for reconstruction. And much of the tax money just disappears in some pockets. Nobody will check this. So why stop it?! Because poor souls die every day? These "heroes" never benefited much in any war...
  23. I use the NT Thunder with up to 150 Mbps download and about 8 Mbps upload for 999 a year. It has unlimited speed and unlimited data.
