  1. They do and it is always in the news even if it doesn't change anything. And shortly afterwards you have a story that a taxi driver found a lot of money in his car and returned it to his customer. Just to show how honest they are.
  2. Normally the seller should ask if you have an old air conditioner and give you a quote for the entire installation. Apparently they didn't care that the buyer has the correct information - for whatever reason... I wouldn't buy at such a shop if they don't inform me about additional charges automatically. I really thank the OP for the warning because I am considering to replace my old aircons.
  3. I think it is not better in Western countries. I see often such cases on western TV. I have the feeling that the Thais adopt more and more "western standards".
  4. Perhaps they get the opportunity to pay for "special" licenses...
  5. The "Entertainment Places Act of 1966" that @brewsterbudgen posted before clearly defines that these are special services and not prostitution. Therefore these employees are no prostitutes and the bar owners no pimps. It also helps to get rid of freelancer competition at least on the paper. Experienced sex tourists don't want to pay additional fees at such "service centers" with booze and noise and therefore oder online in the meantime.
  6. It is good that he posted this. It reminds me that you can't be careful enough.
  7. "Quite why it merits publicity in the local media, I have no idea." They want to show how much they do. But this is one of the fascinating things. The media are there with cameras and the prostitutes don't know anything about the approaching police. Soliciting in public areas? Soi Buakhao for instance is a public area and nobody cares what the open air sex bars do. Soi 6 is a... I forgot. These bars provide only "special services". After all this I would say make prostitution and not only "special services" legal. Or classify freelancers as special service workers and their pimps as employers. And at locations where service workers are not allowed put a sign like this
  8. Prisons might have limited deterrent value. But you have to lock away criminals to protect the rest of the society. Some of these criminals cannot be rehabilitated.
  9. Somehow I was naive enough to think Pattaya would change but I begin to understand. The bars on Beach Road have "special service workers" who work legally. Across the street there are freelancers who don't work for bars and are therefore prostitutes. Also the bar owners are legally no pimps. I think I got it now.
  10. Unbelievable how much has changed since 1966.
  11. End of April they told me in May...
  12. Ask you oversea bank what the correspondent bank in Thailand is and open an account there if possible. My European bank has the Bangkok Bank as such a bank. No fees for me and transfers are within hours. I didn't know this at the beginning and had an account at Krungsri Pattaya. I transferred Euro to my Euro account there. The money went to a bank in New York, to the Bangkok Bank, to the Krungsri headquarter and from there to the Pattaya branch. I had a lot of fees ????. I made this mistake only 1 time. Now my accounts in foreign currencies are at the Bangkok Bank. I always change later here. And keep all the documents of the money transfer. Then it is easier to transfer money out of Thailand.
  13. Now he can enjoy the food preparation of the prison kitchen...
  14. Almost correct... "Inheritance tax rates If the inheritance received has a value exceeding THB 100 million, only the portion that exceeds THB 100 million will be taxed. The inheritance tax rates for the exceeding amount are: 5% inheritance tax for parents and descendants 10% inheritance tax for other heirs" https://thailand.acclime.com/guides/inheritance-tax/
  15. The cones at Lazada are empty. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/pre-rolled-cones-white-78-mm-15-30-50-100-cones-i4642632050-s19080112092.html?dsource=share&laz_share_info=507488015_100_100_9814418_507488015_null&laz_token=3f62af67281ea9f5a41b6ea045fff9ac&exlaz=e_iqeJxmuQOjPGip8qo24MCSTeQCjDld4siVQ4kY1ODqrCXvTKdNAtBb55%2BgIiSkmNnXkPoNuoMIIpR8IEI%2FLi1U0sC6tUOx2TD3WnASIas1Y%3D&sub_aff_id=social_share&sub_id2=507488015&sub_id3=9814418&sub_id6=CPI_EXLAZ No, I am no longer a smoker. It took me a while to quit tobacco. Wasn't easy. So I just want to try before maybe they change the laws. Just that I had this experience. I will go to some of the many cannabis shops here in Central Pattaya just to get an idea. Somebody told me a (hopefully) good online source for weed already. At least the prices seem to be acceptable. Will order there first. Will look for pipes, grinder and other things at the markets. I think this is a good idea to look there and I have something to do.
  16. They were free ????. But when I cook with it, I have slight balance problems. The mood doesn't change much. In the beginning I took way too much and couldn't walk anymore. But I didn't feel any mood swing. I was also completely clear in my head. There were only severe balance disorders. I never had such a feeling before.
  17. I think they are for oil. But I looked at Lazada. I can't find any others. Where can I buy a cheap pipe? But I found pre-rolled cones. Perhaps I better start with them.
  18. I want to buy a cheap glass pipe. There are so many different ones - see image 1. If I buy one like the one in image 2, does that make sense or are there better options?
  19. Somebody found this statement above funny. Does this Decarboxylation if you want to use weed for food not make sense? If you smoke it then it is not necessary.
  20. You don't do the so called "Decarboxylation" mentioned before? Try it. It really made a difference.
  21. Will I do things I normally wouldn't do? I don't want to end up here as another farang gone insane.
  22. What I tried so far is using it with food. A Thai friend gave me leaves and I use them for food. What I didn't know at the beginning was that I have to heat it at a certain temperature and for a certain time. This works. https://weedmaps.com/learn/products-and-how-to-consume/decarboxylation-temperature-chart
  23. They might sell me crap weed for the price of good weed. How do I know this? The might sell me weed mixed with whatever. How do I know that? This is why I asked for good sources. Of course I will avoid all sources without a fixed address ????.
  24. Thank you all for your responses. Some questions still remain ????. Approximately how many grams does a pre-roll contain? I simply want to get an idea how much more I pay for a pre-roll - 10, 50, 100,... percent more than for the weed alone in such a pre-roll? How much does a typical joint cost and any things I have to look for? Are there any good shops here in Central Pattaya? I see very many. But I don't know where I don't get ripped off. What is a good online source for people that don't need much quantity. I don't have a card for payment. So other payment methods should be possible.
  25. Before weed might perhaps become illegal again, I want to give it a try. But I have no experience. I also don't want to spend a lot as long-term smoking isn't what I want and the alternatives like edibles aren't to my liking either. So maybe I'll just try it a few times and therefore don't want to invest too much. My idea is to buy a glass pipe. Or should I buy ready made joints? Then I need cheap weed. I have no idea what you can do with 1 gram. Is that the amount needed for a joint? And where is a good, cheap source that can be trusted perhaps even here at my location in Central Pattaya?
