Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?
Mac Mickmanus replied to Scott's topic in World News
I find that I usually feel "under the weather " (unwell) when I have fluctuating temperatures (same in Thailand in air conditioned rooms) when I go from hot/cold inside a room to cold/hot outside the room . I seem to end up with a sniffle and a runny nose and feel the temperature change and it feels even hotter/colder when going outside . I don't put heating/aircon on and thus don't have temperature changes and don't get ill . 7 degrees now and I go outside wearing shorts and flip flops and it doesnt seem cold at all . Had I had my heating on full blast , I would have had to wrapped up warm when going out and would have had a runny nose , Just need to acclimatise and adapt to the outside temperature , same as I do when its 40 degrees in Thailand -

It was relevant point to show I would have the same opinion about anyone who complained about having to wear clothes at home to keep warm and I was asking whether posters who sympathised with the guy in question, would also equally sympathise with a Lord living in a draughty stately home complaining about having to wear clothes to keep warm . I keep a constant opinion, I don't change my opinion to suit a political agenda -

"Damp" is a different issue to just being cold though and being cold doesn't make you ill , although damp is an issue caused by either structural problems or house ventilation issues , damp issues can be addressed separately by either fixing the structural issues or taking other measures to stop damp occurring -

Although we aren't talking about the old or Children , we are talking about people who aren't old or Children and I personally donated the equivalent of my winters gas bill to poorer people and I sit in the cold with warm clothes on . -
There have been numerous recent reports of Chinese nationals overstaying their visas and having dodgy visas from schools and there were suggestions it was the tip of the iceberg and it would be fully investigated . Is it just a coincidence that the authorities have told the media NOT to mention perpetrators nationality NOW , now that Chinese seem to be in the spotlight ?

Me "cold hearted" ? That could be because I AM one of those people who are "freezing to death" in a unheated UK house , well I would be freezing to death if I didn't put more clothes on . Just had two weeks of below zero temperatures outside and even though my gas company have given me 800 Pounds worth of free credit , I didn't use the heating and just put warmer clothes on . No doubt the people who are complaining about it being too cold were also complaining about it being too hot last summer -
Brexit has cracked Britain’s economic foundations
Mac Mickmanus replied to webfact's topic in World News
Theresa May was BEFORE Brexit , Johnson was during Brexit and since Brexit in 2020 , there have been just two Conservative leaders selected , Truss and Sunak and just Truss can be considered to be the wrong choice . -

Stop right there . Who is "freezing to death" ? Has anyone in the UK actually "frozen to death" (whilst sitting at home watching television) or are you adding a non existent scenario ? -

Brexit has cracked Britain’s economic foundations
Mac Mickmanus replied to webfact's topic in World News
To keep it factual , there has only been two leaders selected since Brexit and just one of them was the "wrong " choice . Its just Truss and Sunak who have been selected for the UK leadership since Brexit and just Truss can be considered to have been the wrong choice as Sunak seems to be doing quite well . So its not "several" times , its *once* -

Yes, but do you have to wear extra clothes at home to keep warm ? Can you walk around your 50 bedroom stately home wearing the Safari suite that you wore on your last African hunting trip or do you need to out that tweed jacket on . Absolutely appalling that you need to wear clothes in your home, I blame Brexit -

Its about people complaining about having to wear clothes to keep warm, its that principle . Would you have the same opinion if Lord Brathwaite who lives in a 50 bedroom stately home in the Countryside complained because he cannot afford to heat his stately home and he has to wear clothes at home ? "My 50 bedroom stately home is cold in winter and I have to put a coat on when I walk from the master bedroom to the kitchen" Would you also support him as well ? -

Why is the UK struggling more than other countries?
Mac Mickmanus replied to Scott's topic in World News
I have no sympathy for anyone who complains about having to wear clothes in keep warm in their house when the simple solution is to wear more clothes and that will keep them warm . I never put the heating on in my house and just wear more clothes to keep warm when its cold . Its not anyone's human right to be able to sit and watch telly wearing shorts and a T-shirt in mid winter , just put some tracksuit bottoms and and wear hoodie and you wont get cold . Whatever next ? People complaining about food banks being too far away and could they make home deliveries ? -

Customers have been given money to help with utility bills direct from the supplier . I didnt get a meter reading or pay a gas bill for the whole of 2022 , (the estimated bills were addressed to someone else and so I didn't open them ) , a guy from the gas company then came to visit to take a reading and I got a gas bill for the whole year......................and I am 800 Pounds in credit . The gas company has credited my account with money for the gas bill and after personal usage , I am 800 Quid in credit for the year -

I wasn't putting down people who cannot afford to heat their homes , I was commenting on the people who complain about having to keep warm by wearing clothes and not being able to use the heating . The people who feel they should have heated homes and shouldn't need to wear warm clothes , is the people I referred to -

People complaining because they cannot put the heating on at home and having to use blankets to keep warm . What a hard life these people are living , having to wear clothes at home instead of walking around in shorts and T-shirt and turning the heating on like they are the tropics . BTW , I do have an anecdotal story about that . but I am not going to write it as I will be accused of lying again , so I will not post it -

We all have to make cut backs . Today is the first non freezing non rainy day for about three weeks and I have just hung my washing out on the washing line, rather than use the tumble dryer . That's my 18 % cutback for the day
