  3. Here are the latest figures : Rishi Sunak cuts Labour poll lead from 30 to 11 points as Tories claw back Red Wall voters Labour’s poll lead over the Conservatives has fallen to 11 points from a high of 30, with signs that Rishi Sunak is clawing back support among 2019 Red Wall voters. The latest survey by Savanta puts Labour on 42 per cent, down five points since last week, while the Conservatives are up five points to 31 per cent. https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/rishi-sunak-claws-back-2019-tory-voters-cutting-labour-lead-from-30-to-11-points-poll-shows-2021134
  4. Conservatives/Sunak are gaining in popularity in the opinion polls , whilst Labour are indeed still in the lead in the pools , Sunak is gaining ground
  5. It maybe a good idea to state your location ?
  6. Just from reading posts from today from Thai living posters you would think that UK business trade is down 30 % due to a 30 % decline in shop sales , 65 year olds are being forced back to work and 2.1 Million people need food banks for survival and they are saying how terrible it is in the UK The reality is that people shop online these days , early retires (50-65) are being encouraged to go back to work and 5753 food packages are being handed out on a daily basis , bringing the total to 2.1 million packages handed out per year The situation in the UK really isn't as bad as some posters imagine it is and that is due to the misinformation they receive
  7. Yes , food banks have steadily been growing in popularity since 2008 , and it was 2.5 million the previous year 2020/21 and down to 2,1 million last year, and BTW, those figures are for individual food packages handed out for three days worth of food , so its not 2.1 Million people its 2.1 million food packages , so its more like 200 000 people getting regular food packages
  8. That's until you get so stoned out your nut and forget about that little bag you had in your luggage pocket and you fly through Dubai and end up in jail for 20 years
  9. It needs to be pointed out that the government is considering bringing back people who took early retirement , back into the workforce , those who took early retirement at 50 years old , its the people aged between 50 and 65 who are being encouraged to get back into the workforce , rather than those in retirement age , 65 years old +
  10. In relation to this thread title , UK food banks have been gaining in popularity for the last 15 years , they have been getting more popular and usage every year for 15 years , actually, last year was the first year that there has been a decrease in their popularity/usage . How does that fit in with the thread title ?
  11. There has been a decline in retail shopping with many people now shopping online and getting things delivered , its much more convenient and cheaper to sit and home and browse online and then make a purchase with a few clicks and then get the goods delivered , rather than traipsing around the shops .
  12. There is currently a cost of living crisis in the UK , what with the effects of Covid and 10 %inflation and energy supply problems caused by Russia invading Ukraine , rioting wouldn't solve those issue and its also winter time now and rioters don't usually riot unless its summer time and its nice and warm outside . You will have to wait until al least May or June before rioters will take to the streets
  13. Rather than rioting, people have take measures to reduce their energy usage and bills , like not leaving lights on, turning the heating down a bit and wearing warm clothes and various other energy saving measures
  14. This was a few years ago pre Brexit and I do believe everything was above board and legal back then and E.U citizens could legally receive child benefits if their child lived in other E.U Countries and they paid U.K taxes , although that wouldn't apply to people/child living in Thailand . But they were paying UK taxes and that entitled them to child benefit
  15. I have actually spoken to Polish people working in the U.K and claiming child support for a child living in Poland and their reasoning was that they work in the UK and pay UK taxes and they are entitled to claim those child benefits
  16. I generally find that its quicker when people pay digitally , although there will be isolated incidents when there will be delays when paying either way
  17. To be fair, I was commenting on a media report about a person complaining about having to sit under a blanket when sitting at home watching television , which IMO is a bearable "hardship" .I will keep my sympathies for people who don't have a home or a blanket or a television
  18. That is a link to a charity and they are seeking donations , that isn't a credible news source
  19. Its less risky than looking through someone's bedroom window at night though
  20. *Deleted post edited out* Things that effect me in the UK and my experiences also effect many other people in the UK and they share similar experiences . I am quite sure that my local supermarket wasn't the only supermarket in the UK was rammed packed before Christmas and that I am not the only person in the UK who has been giving credit by my gas company . Things that effect me also effect everyone else in the UK. If you were to accept and believe everything some posters living in Thailand say, you would think everyone in the UK gets their food from foodbanks and people are freezing to death at home because they cannot afford to heat their homes .
  21. Like, its just a statue being removed , its not such a big deal . Its just a statue
  22. Did the stamp stamp itself into your passport or did someone have to stamp it ?
  23. Some people used drones for peeping toming
  24. UK coal mining saw a sharp decline in the 1970s and had practically disappeared by the start of the 21st century https://www.nsenergybusiness.com/features/coal-mining-uk/
  25. Yes, I am trying to work out whether there's a bigger picture going on , like the Government keep telling people to keep their house warm , gas and electric prices have been raised and the Government are sending us money to pay for it .
