A really nice movie based on true event and starring Helen Mirren, you just know it's going to be good:- Woman in Gold Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish refugee, takes on the Austrian government to recover artwork she believes rightfully belongs to her family. Not as heavy as it sounds. Well worth a watch -

A couple of my most favorite westerns:- Hombre - Starring Paul Newman. John Russell, disdained by his "respectable" fellow stagecoach passengers because he was raised by Native Americans, becomes their only hope for survival when they are set upon by outlaws. Ulzana's Raid - Starring Burt Lancaster After fierce war chief Ulzana and a small war party jump the reservation bent on murder and terror, an inexperienced young lieutenant is assigned to track him -

Great series that I really enjoy:- Lost Car Rescue Enjoyable Retro Ride Rescues Many of us car enthusiasts have seen the standard barn finds, junk yard car sleuths, and "will it start" shows. I wondered if this was another of the same ilk. If so it would need something different. Well,, this is quite a bit different. The five principal car hunters are very likable and their methods and actual car finds are fresh and different. In the wild north there are abandoned cars and trucks that are rare with even more rare backstories. It all adds up for good entertainment. Nevermind it seems they often over pay for what looks "rough as a cobb", these forgotten rides get treated like finds from King Tut's tomb! I've never seen a combo like this: spotter plane, PowerWagon wrecker, and semi with a crane lift. The is a show unlike any others I've seen to date. I thought it had all been done and filmed, but I stand corrected. Series 1 and eps 1-4 of series 2 available from TVChaos. Various odd episodes can be found on other sites. -
Visa for child support
Daffy D replied to thairat's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm in a similar situation. With the looming possibility of not meeting the future financial requirements at my last yearly retirement extension I asked what are the requirements for a child support visa which I believe only requires 400k in the bank. I was told by the immigration officer, in very annoyed tones, "We cannot, have to go to Bangkok" Obviously having a bad day, but no need to take it out on me Anyway from what I have gleaned on this forum, in addition to the usual home photos you also need photos outside and inside the school, with you, child and teacher as well as a letter from school stating that your child does in fact attend the school. I am trying to avoid the "child support" route as it sems just too much BS, and am currently working out if my UK Government pension used in combination with what's left of the 800k will be enough for the visa. -
Not yet, been close a couple of time . Just a little too close this time.

Interesting point about the money.

Bum guns or soft toilet paper ?

Quick initial glance I read it wrong:- "Is He" -- He Is"

Not yet...... otherwise would not be asking about conditions. Just planning ahead

If I should end up in any kind of jail my greatest fear would be if they had those squat toilets. With my aged knees I can no longer lift myself up from one of those. I'd have to wait for the next user to come along and just hope he was gentleman enough to pull me up before using it himself

That sounds more promising Though I don't have the funds nor do I want to be deported. Opps! Just realized the "is he? " Wistful thinking perhaps

Than you all for your contribution to this thread. Some serious useful information and some of the usual attempts at humor. Finding yourself in a potential overstay situation can happen to practically anyone, no matter how secure you may think you are today. Nobody plans to get caught on overstay and no it's not always "easy to avoid". No matter how good and secure your situation, one day the Gods will remember you and put a stop to all that complacency. (Loosely quoted from "Out of Africa")

Don't like the sound of that

With the recent crackdown on overstayers the local immigration detention centers must be getting pretty full. Just wondering what they are like. I'm guessing you aren't thrown in a cage with 100 or more others with hardly enough room to sleep on the floor and a stinking hole in the corner as a toilet. So what are the conditions, anyone have actual first hand experience? What do they supply? bed, blanket, towel. Meals, drinking water, Laundry service, change of clothes? Guess you are allowed a phone, are there charging points, how about a laptop, allowed? WiFi ? Can you buy things like soap and toothpaste? and snacks? Visitors allowed? Visit from your Country's Embassy? Just a few things that come to mind. Feel free to add to the list.

Feel good Hindi movie with English Subtitles, I liked it:- 777 Charlie - 2022 - Hindi - IMDB Rating 8.8 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7466810/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0_tt_2_nm_1_q_777%20Charlie%20(2022) Dharma is stuck in a rut with his negative and lonely lifestyle and spends each day in the comfort of his loneliness. A pup named Charlie enters his life and gives him a new perspective towards it. Undoubtedly, Charlie is the frontrunner in making one watch the film. The story is simple and even predictable sometimes, but Charlie makes it beautiful with its lovely performance, especially in emotional scenes. Besides, Rak<deleted> Shetty justifies his role. -
Unfortunately that didn't work. First off I started to unscrew the grey plastic cap, as it seemed the easiest thing to do, and checked it was full of water. Bit unnecessary as the tank from which the pump feeds is higher than the pump so that shouldn't be a problem, but checked anyway. Next had a look under the grey elongated cover. (Check Valve) but there was no sort of adjusting screw, just a round check valve. There is a pressure switch in a round cylindrical unit, but according to the manual touching that would bring down upon me the wrath of Zeus, so left that alone. While I was at it I also took off the Bladder tank and shook out the water. Non of that worked to fix the pressure delay problem, so guess I'll just have to live with it. No real problem for me but it's a bit like the old fluorescent lights that always flickered before turning on. You get used to it, but when LED's came along with instant on, who wants to keep the old fluorescent. Anyways thanks for you help

Recently my 15 year old Hitachi WM-P 300 finally gave up so replaced it with a new Hitachi WM-P 200xx. The pump works Ok except it takes several seconds to put out full pressure when turning on a tap. What happens is that when turning on a tap there is a low pressure flow of water and the suddenly seems like the pump kicks in and we get the full pressure. This never used to happen with the old pump where we had full steady pressure right from the moment the tap was turned on. I've had a go at Googling but haven't found an answer to cover this particular problem. Lots of "Adjusting the pressure switch" but am reluctant to do that as the pump is only a few weeks old. Could be the pressure tank, perhaps? Any ideas or preferably a solution would be most welcome.

Something that worked for me before:- It's a shampoo so easy to use. Just shampoo your lower regions and leave for about 10 minutes before rinsing off. You can also use any of the other stuff mentioned, but I found this shampoo was the easiest and least messy way of doing things.
