happydreamer replied to BS25's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Actually, then THEIR information is out of date because if you checked it's still offered on their website. Im not in the habit of offering misinformation https://www.siam-legal.com/other-services/opening-a-bank-account-in-thailand.php -

Im pretty sure if you use an entity like that the process is a hell of a lot smoother than doing it yourself. -
How to open a Bank account in 2025?
happydreamer replied to BS25's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Siam legal opened my bank account in 2022 for 5K. In out and done in 90 minutes. There's people who are going to sit here and tell you go to this bank go to that bank, ask for the manager. Don't waste time, just pony up the 5k and get it done. -

They do their own research 🤣🤣🤣 -
Im talking specifically about the man in the story. try not to pretend like you don't know the difference between the two. Id like to at least assume you have the cultural wherewithal to know the difference between someone who smuggles from an impoverished nation because they have few choices and trust fund children who have made bad choices because their parents have bailed them out before.

There's alot of drug mules who get caught that really dont have alot of choices. When you come from a poor country and you or your family has a debt to someone that's involved in this type of <deleted>...your only way out sometimes is by doing this <deleted>. I know first hand guys I used to see on a daily basis from Mexico who told me about what it took to get out of Mexico. His only choices there were to work with Cartels. If you didn't work with the cartels you basically gave up any form of protection they offered. Its easy to call someone an idiot if you dont know the full context of why they were involved

Thai Spouse Extension - Changes.
happydreamer replied to Liquorice's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
To add my 2 cents to the mix...I have my legal counsel file all the paperwork for me so that I can be sure everything is done per immigration spec and there's no surprises on the day of. The day of the visit I was informed that there was now a "deposit" that was required until the application was processed visa was approved the following month. I was absolutely livid but my wife just told me to keep calm and let the lawyer handle everything. Begrudgingly paid the deposit (12K). Was told by IO that there were a bunch of people who would come to file for long term visas, get the extension, and then not come back the following month for the actual visa. The "deposit" was to make sure I came back. I didn't think id get the deposit back but it was actually refunded in full. Always an experience with Immigration -
Go to a therapist and get on a proper rehab program that you can work into your weekly routines. Lower back issues come from a variety of things and sometimes aren't related to the back as much as they are to the hip and abdominal weaknesses. Then get into a gym like fitness first and hire a trainer for maybe 10 sessions so they can set you up with a program. After that if you're the type who doesn't need guidance or handholding then ditch the trainer and just use what you've learned. Pulling stuff off of YT is good if you have a strong foundation and body awareness and are able to make the muscle /mind connection. Define what your goals are and structure your training so that you run it in cycles. For example...you mentioned wanting to build upper body, so for 8 weeks work on resistance training. Make sure your form is correct. Lower the weight if needed and use proper form, bracing with abs, allowing your muscles to contract and lift the weight as they are meant to. Dont ego lift, it's not worth it, did it for years. Fk'd myself good and plenty. Anyhow, work on progressively either adding a rep or weight each session during the 8 week period. At the end of 8 weeks switch to a different phase, which may be something where you peel back the weight and add in more plyometric movements or band work. Maybe learn how to work with kettlebells. This is why Im saying get a trainer. There's tons of ways to get to your goal but you dont know what you dont know. Feel free to reach out to me thru DM if you need help. I dont train people anymore but I'll advise and answer your questions f you want including places to go for rehab and recovery work. About me...38 years training, played sports entire life, baseball and wrestling mostly. Have 2 degenerative discs that I train around now. Rehabbed recently from sciatica. Last year had a double hernia repaired that I got from deadlifting the wrong way. Used gear during my 30s to get big, ripped, and strong. Realized in my 40s that was really stupid to do. Now at 50 its all about training so I can train another day, week, month. Still taking batting practice once or twice a week Current programming includes, cycling resistance programs, cycling low intensity cardio with high intensity cardio, sprints, agility work, strength and speed. I train at a couple of different Fitness First Facilities. Monthly its about 2900. Trainers there are more...they have packages but if you get the lowest package and take it from there your investment will be minimal. best of luck

Wise Transfers Successful
happydreamer replied to PREM-R's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I'll echo this with what I have experience. Prior to about a month ago, my Wise transfers from USA bank to Bangkok Bank would occur within seconds. If I was transferring over 30K baht then it might take a few hours or in extreme cases the next day. Within the past month I've been struggling with transfer having them range from a few hours to a few days. My most recent transfer of 15K was sent last Thursday and didn't arrive until today. Absolutely absurd Tried the same transfer with my Wife's SCB bank and it was 18 minutes. Not sure whats happening or whats causing this but seems like we went backwards a few yers with this -
Anyone bought a (decent) office chair from Lazada?
happydreamer replied to giddyup's topic in Pattaya
I was looking at Mood & Tone for some furniture...how is the build quality? About a year ago I had a sideboard custom made from one of these places that claims to be a furniture factory and the wood literally split within a week of it being in my home. They agreed to repair it but returned it in basically the same state. Its been a year and it's continued to develop cracks so just curious if I can trust MT? -

Excellent choice. You're a gentleman of distinguished taste 🙂 Funny story...when I ordered my HM I kinda expected it to be delivered like all my other furniture back home was...with the store branded delivery truck coming and unloading in front of your home. So I was sitting there waiting for the Chanintr truck to come like a kid waiting for the ice cream man A pickup truck with a husband and wife pulled up, unboxed it in the parking lot, gave it to me and took a photo of me standing there with it. So ya, I had to wheel a 700 dollar chair thru my parking lot and up 3 floors. most anti-climactic delivery of my life -

Herman Miller Sayl - Chanintr 22K in 2021 Had one of these back home and needed to rebuy it when I came here. If you have back or hip issues I highly advise investing in something good -
Thanks for the info. I wonder if Wise is rolling out a different funding methods that might include fees. I opened a support query with them and they told me that 0-4 days is the normal period of time for transfers and if I wanted them faster I should select a different method. But they didn't happen to mention which method, so I'm still here wondering WTH's going on. Anyhow...thanks for your kind replies

Are you admitted for the process? My insurance will cover but only if I'm admitted -
Since moving from the West to Thailand one thing has become very obvious to me. There's great importance placed on whether or not her life gets better being with you. It's as simple as that. If she's making 15K a month then her means of sending money to her family are quite minimal. In her eyes and her parents eyes, thats her obligation and most likely the reason they had children...to help support them in their old age. So if she's dating a guy who can help her to do her thing and make herself look better in her family's eyes then ya, she's gonna ask you for help. They all ask for help in one way or another. Women here are very different than women in the west. Women here want to be taken care of, whether it's a vacation, an allowance, a car, a home, or an iPhone...they want some token of affection from the guy they are giving their time to. Otherwise, what's the point of dating you? The women here don't give a sh!t how cool you are or how great you are at badminton, how much of a guitar pro you are unless you have the credentials and finances to back it. I paid for my wife's (gf at the time) Masters Degree and post-graduate studies for which she enrolled in the US and did remotely. Why, because it was a solid ask for help that would not only help her improve her life but help her improve her family's life, and ultimately help her be better in our relationship. Men provide value in their relationships...whether it's money, security, a family or all of these. If it's worth it to you then so be it. Be happy about it and dont look for validation here. Godspeed bro
