I would say, a was rather close to both. My father died before I had moved to Thailand, so I guess that hit a little bit harder. My mother became old and weak, after I moved to Thailand and died quite recently in the aftermath of having caught Covid. Anyway, she became over 90 years old, so lived a long life. Had more time to prepare for her death, so did not hit same hard.

I don´t understand what kind of problem you have with Pattaya? Why on earth would it be hard for a western couple to settle down there and retire. Same as older people comes to Thailand, find a Thai woman and marry her. that would be same hard to maintain in Pattaya according to your view, right? You know, some of us aren´t focused on the most banging for the bucks (Count me out of that, I like to bang). If it can be 100% proven, they have a case for possible compensation. However, the people died, will have a fairly big problem collecting the compensation. As DrJack54 stated, they are wrong. This is common on a big amount of embassy website all over the world. They have all from outdated info and wrong info, to missing a lot of information.
