  1. My Very, Very Dearest Friends, This is such an intimate topic that I must add VERY and VERY, even two “very” descriptors, to this topic’s title, in fact. Do you think I am Fluffing Joking? No, because this is LIFE, and we all know that life is either a box of chocolates or it is not. One goes from highs to low in this life, as you know. Also, my friends, our lives are just, basically, made up of Tomorrow, Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and we never live for Today. My dear friends, I dare say that I know a lot more about life than you do, at your useless youthful ages. I have seen a lot of kerfuffle, in my days, about whether or not the living of life might be useful, or pleasurable. So, anyway, what has been your worst day, your worst year, so far? What has been the very worst thing you have experienced, so far? Was it the night during which you first realized that your Lola, from Pattaya, was not a woman? Was this your worst day of the year? I do not think so. Maybe your worst day of your life has not yet happened, in fact. Still, what is your worst day, so far? I could write more? And, I could tell you what a very bad day might be, for me. But, I will not, even though it just happened to me. Instead, you might just like to watch a clip from a bad day for somebody else…if you don’t want to share your own "worst time of your life". Such a bad day at Black Rock, and yet such a great day, too! Regards, Note: Have you yet had your worst day, in your life, do you think? Or, do you think that you, yet, have a worse day to come? What do you think?
  2. Perhaps you know not much about the Evil Eye? Mitsubishi Move Eye is not the Roving Eye, nor is it the Evil Eye... This guy needs cooling. Baby, I'm not fooling. This guy needs Mitsubishi HEAVY cooling. Heavy Mitsubishi cooling.
  3. What? Are you nuts? Still, nice, however.
  4. Silence is Golden Any technology that reduces decibels in our noisy world, these days, is worth its weight in gold. However, more to the point, the sensor which detects movement, using infrared, I would imagine, is basically completely silent, without regard to the brand of AC. The sensor is always silent. And, Silence is Golden. Conversely, if your AC uses a high frequency sound movement locator sensor, then maybe the sensor is emitting sound at wavelengths which are audible to you? Some dogs are able to hear very high frequency sound which most humans cannot hear. I can hear dog whistles, for example. But, I don't hear my AC's motion detector. Not only dog whistles, but I can hear high-frequency sound emitted by escalators in shopping malls.
  5. Regarding Move Eye Sensor, Panasonic also offers this. However, as for me, I find this technology quite useless for my own purposes. Also, it's a bit spooky to have my AC watching me. Sort of like some Stephen King thing. ACs are getting spookier by the year.
  6. You provided the polite definition of the word, I guess.
  7. Most people here show sincere gratitude for any crumbs I might deign to throw their way. But, still, I never require them to genuflect, overly, in public.
  8. A look in the mirror, each morning, is always deceiving. We never see what is really there. Our minds play tricks on us. Thankfully.
  9. My Dear Friends, Such a debt of gratitude do we owe to Richard Mason for his spectacular book, a novel which might even have been as pivotal for young men, sending them to brothels in Hong Kong, and brothels everywhere, as any novel written by Joseph Conrad, sending young boys to sea, The only better novella by Conrad, might have been his Heart of Darkness. How did Mason actually come to write this book? Mason’s story about this is quite interesting. And, if one checks Wikipedia, there is some interesting reading there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Mason_(novelist,_1919–1997) It is also interesting to contemplate just how many young men, maybe a billion, have traveled to Hong Kong, and similar places, just to find their own Suzie Wong. Somehow, most young boys, after reading this fantasy novel, still believe they will find true love in the arms of a hooker. And then, so many of them finally find not much. And then, they crash and burn. And then, this makes a good story for us to tell on TV. Or, they visit the bars, and then they eventually find their true love, and end up sharing her with 150 sailors, per month. You see, you cannot just come to a place like WanChai, and then expect to fall in love, immediately. You need to walk around a bit, and visit various bars, before you find your Suzie Wong. Yes. Falling in love with a bar girl is so easy. But still, there are many insights we might glean from reading The World of Suzie Wong. Maybe, you have gleaned a few insights in the bars, after reading about Suzie Wong, too? What are some of the good lessons you have learned from reading this amazing novel? For example, I learned to never try to sit with US Navy sailors at a table while eating a bowl of noodles. And, I also learned that the girls in WanChai never really liked sailors who arrive in port one day, and then ship out the next day. Maybe, even, they thought them a bit uncouth. I love this book about Suzie Wong, which has become rather iconic, over the years, for a young farang man’s lust for the perfect Asian girl, one that has no English language facility, but plenty of beauty. For me, Suzie is the perfect woman, both beautiful and unattached. What did you learn from the reading of Suzie Wong? And, do you agree that Mason is as amazing as what he wrote about after visiting Hong Kong, on a lark? Regards
  10. I have watched the three-part documentary, just as you have. Perhaps, this is the culmination, meaning the bleak end, of all the good things that Hong Kong once had. Anyone who lives in Hong Kong can decide for themselves if they prefer life before 1996, or after. Deng Xiaoping once, probably apocryphally, stated something about flies. Deng is said to have said: "If you open the window for fresh air, you have to expect some flies to blow in." (Although, one doubts he ever did say such a thing.) But, what actually happened, is that, once the CCP "recovered" Hong Kong, this blessed former colony has been filling up with commie flies. One guesses that, these days, one cannot keep the CCP flies from infesting almost anything, and everything. So solly!
  11. Why? Why was Hong Kong so much more interesting in the 60s and early 70s than Thailand is now? Do you know?
  12. Those were the good old days when business was conducted with civility. Now, unfortunately, you may be stuck with Shanghai, or worse. Commies stink, as everybody knows. Or, as one who enjoys business, do you prefer a Marxist-Leninist playing field?
  13. Back in the day, almost everyone in Hong Kong and Thailand were virgins. And, everybody preferred virgins, back then. Even, Suzie Wong was a virgin. Hong Kong was far more interesting, then, than Thailand is now. Believe me. Chinese girls are super smart.
  14. As much as we love Thailand, did we not, honestly speaking, love Hong Kong, even more?
  15. Great minds think alike. You are entirely correct. Even ACs are becoming disposable products. Use them for two years, and then throw them in the Andaman Sea. Strangely enough, or not so strange, you and I seem to have arrived at the same conclusion, based on valid observation, that ACs are now no more than any other consumer product, such as laser printers, and disposable. Be careful, however, lest you, yourself, become disposable. What will you do then, When you become disposable, too?
  16. Dear Friends, What do you recall about the first moment you set foot in Hong Kong? Does this album remind you of those seemingly halcyon days? Some guys from Scotland might have set foot, earlier, in Hong Kong, but not many who still remain here reading these words. Do you miss the old Hong Kong? Personally, I do know that many guys from HK have come here. Do you miss the color (colour) of the sea around Hong Kong harbor, some sort of leaden gray with its slightly fetid aroma? Do you miss riding on the Star Ferry, or did you prefer the basements in Kowloon? Do you miss the cheap ferry fares? Those fares were held steady for many years, until...they were suddenly not. This is not just a matter of nostalgia getting the best of us. Hong Kong really did change, never to be seen again, after those days. Such a loss. But, never mind, the Red Flag has now risen, and nobody here, worth his salt, will ever return to HK, again, maybe. How much would you give to go back? That is the question. What a fool believes, could be almost anything. And, the fools may have destroyed Hong Kong, for good. Probably, but who really knows.
  17. I know that, sometimes, some of you might wonder: What is the best way to get good after-sales service for products I buy here in SE Asia. After all, you probably don't speak good Thai. And, even if you did, you might be worried about this, still. I have been here a LONG TIME, like long Covid, and, therefore, let me provide you with a suggestion, not necessarily always useful. Here is what I do to get fast service from recalcitrant service-center reps in SE Asia: What I do is to write down, very clearly, in very simple language, using some language that even a fool might understand, the basic faults of the AC. I right down these faults and defects and issues which need to be corrected or addressed. And then, I find a glass bottle, maybe some old wine bottle with a cork. And then, I insert my very carefully written words into the wine bottle. And then, I chuck it into the nearest body of water, be it a river, a stream, or even the Andaman Sea. In doing this, I am assured that I will get the fastest response from service centers here. Try it! I guarantee this will work for you. And then, after doing this, I listen to some of this: Works for me... Every time.
  18. Each day, we introduce the wisdom and insightful words that Konosuke Matsu<deleted>a spoke during his lifetime. Without good service, we will soon lose all our customers.
  19. Some people here do not actually know what an inverter does. This is the same as the people here who don't know what a vaccine does. Both groups of people should not be considered unintelligent. Instead, they need a chance to learn something new. Here is a link which might help for understanding what inverters do for your AC and Refrigerator... https://www.fujielectric.com/products/column/inverter/inverter_01.html Inverters are NOTHING to be afraid about, even in hot temps. Anyone who does not take advantage of inverter tech for controlling motors is a fool, of course. Quote: Don't make a fool of yourself just through being unwilling to rectify your own ignorance through simple learning
  20. One thing to keep in mind when choosing an AC for the bedroom, and this is to choose an AC of suitable size to be able to maintain the temperature at about 19 degrees C. Therefore, you must choose an AC of at least 18000 BTU for the average-size bedroom. However, do not choose a Panasonic AC from Malaysia, in this case. In my experience, the Panasonic AC might not be able to maintain the temperature at 19 degrees, consistently, just due to defects in either the design or the materials (only from my experience). I would NEVER EVER buy any imports of ACs from Malaysia. Maybe this is just my experience being BURNED by some faulty imports. But, if you want good sleep, you need consistent temps held at about 19 degrees. This is just science from many various sleep studies done at places around the world, such as maybe Duke, or some place. Ivy Guys need their sleep, and they sleep best at lower temps. You know that some manufacturers have no sense of humor about the faulty products they distribute here, or anywhere. Speaking of Fawlty... and FAWLTY SERVICE from distributors and importers here....
