Mennen: Do you still get on the stick?
GammaGlobulin replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I completely agree. That Mennen traditional stick fragrance is so distinctive that it does bring back good memories of the good old days. Olfactory stimuli are some of the most important and powerful cues which trigger good memories from the distant past. -
Has anyone reported the AGE of the son? Seem that this point is CRUCIAL to understanding of this tragedy. If the son were under the age of 12, and a non-swimmer, then this would have been a dastardly deed. However, if the son were a swimmer, and this kind of thing, as a matter of just fooling around, happened regularly, then... This father already is completely devastated by this tragedy. No need to punish the father further.

Thank God the burning has stopped......
GammaGlobulin replied to Will B Good's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Are you unable to communicate with your Village Headman? Just as him or her to switch from burning these petrochemical products, such as used engine oil...to.... Use of microbes, instead. This is certainly what I would do. Get some good bacteria working for you. -
OK. We used the DEC 10, at that time. And so, you can pretty-much pinpoint the year. Mostly for interactive computing. Also, terminal connected from my house via telephone modem to DEC 10, located at the school. Also. For MainFrame: IBM 360/370 Those were the days when Science was King, and so was engineering.

Mennen: Do you still get on the stick?

Thank you. I might just buy a stick. If I find one for the right price. This as a great product, and maybe still is. -
It's possible that the sea conditions were like glass, and the shore apparently only a short swim away. Maybe they were hot, with the sun beating down fiercely, and they just wanted to cool off. It's easy to second-guess others when one is not there, having fun, enjoying the day. Obviously it was not planned. This is life.

Thanks. I needed that. -
I agree. He had not anticipated the dangers of the propeller under the boat. He jumped in after throwing in his son, thinking the two of them would then swim for shore, as a lark. However, upon seeing the damage done by he propeller, he refused to re-board the vessel, hoping to drown himself in remorse. Truly a tragedy. However, not filicide. And, not the motivations one might sometime read in a Russian novel. Sometimes when things like this happen, it is due solely to lack of forethought.

I spent two hours helping a girl to get a new job

Triple the salary. She will come. She will come immediately, and... Without all the foreplay. -
Mennen: Do you still get on the stick?
GammaGlobulin replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Well, at least you know the difference between a scent and a fragrance, which is more than I can say for some around here. As I recall, back in the dark ages, I could buy one unit of Mennen for about 99 cents. If not used within two years, they would dry out. I had a few dry out on me while in Taiwan. So, maybe you should take care when storing your stash, just to avoid this drying-out problem. Yes, you are correct: Women really cannot get enough of this fragrance once applied in the proper amounts and places. -
Strangely enough, I agree with you, once more. I first encountered this phenomenon when asking some Chinese guy, who had a 4.0 in soft-science courses, how he would factor or multiply equations or variables embedded within parentheses. His entire order of what he was supposed to multiply first, second, and third, was all mixed up, and totally opposite to what is standard form, and logical. Even if one showed him how, he still could not accept the better order, ie which to begin with, and the next. Just another example of what can go wrong when taking up RPN. Maybe this is why there are those who are unable to appreciate the beauty of it.

I left the pulling to them, actually. -
Yes. 100-percent AGREE. Those ankle-biters will never become scientists and engineers if they do not immediately get in the swing of things with a good STEM curriculum, and plenty of MATH, preferably using RPN. Just go online, and one can read so many testimonials from users of RPN...that it isn't even funny. Also, the REALLY funny thing is that the critics of RPN, most of them, have never even used it for a year, or so. If they had used it for a minimum length of time, then they would probably understand its advantages, and never go back. But, little minds... You know what they say... Can't teach little minds tricks that might help them improve themselves. One also need not be an engineer to appreciate RPN. But, it helps if one is solving more complex equations. Even if not, then it's just a pleasure to use RPN. And, I have been a convert since the early 1970s.

Old Spice? Now THAT really is detestable. Even more detestable when one tries to drink it. Fit for nothing else, though. -

Actually, I agree with you....BIG Time, as Trump often says. Let me see. When was the last time that I held a stick in my hand? Must be about.... 1981. I used to buy Mennen, the last time anyway, upon my visits to Hong Kong, which occurred regularly, about five-times per year. Then, I though, why bother. As you say, the stick just gets sticky, after application. Fortunately, I do not stink.... Much. Just a waste of money, time, and resources. Also, not too good for expensive shirts, or so I found. Therefore, I do agree with you, for various valid reasons. Note: The only thing is....I enjoy the smell of it, if for no other reason than that of nostalgia for boarding-school days, etc. -
Dear Folks, Is it still possible to get on the stick in Thailand? I have such fond memories of using Mennen Speed Stick once each morning, beginning back in the 1960s. What about you? And, do you still get on the stick once each morning, here in Thailand? Has the original fragrance of the stick been in any way altered? I bet it has. All good things must come to an end. On Amazon, I found that they do not ship this to Thailand, for some unknown reason; maybe due to cultural reasons or the fact that Mennen helps get one up for the morning, and maybe Thai culture is just typically slower-paced, in the AM? Maybe if more guys in Thailand were to get on the stick, then things might actually get ACCOMPLISHED around here, meaning things like solving the annual smoke problem and PM2.5 overload. If you want to know what it means to “get on the stick”, then watch this video. And, if you know anything about the fragrance formula and availability of Mennen Speed Stick in Thailand, then what is the situation as of 2025? And, has the product packaging been downsized while the price has increased? Need we even ask? I know that we all miss it….getting on the stick... Especially in the mornings, even before breakfast or heading out to the office. And, especially as we continue to age. Best regards, Gamma Note: Latest rejection from Amazon. This seems to be happening to me much more frequently, these days....
