We all SHOULD know that polls are worthless tripe (unless you sprinkle them around in your garden). Polls had Hillary absolutely destroying orange jeezuz up to the last minute, look how THAT turned out. Mark McKinnon (cowboy hat guy from "The Circus") was on MSNBC with Stephanie Ruhle. Mark started reminding Stephanie how Biden had originally run on the platform of being a one-term president after which he would step aside for fresher blood. Stephanie shut down THAT remark quick, fast, and in a hurry. Though MSNBC is tacitly in the tank for Biden, this display was too obvious a tip of their hand and they will not tolerate ANY bad-mouthing Sleepy Joe. He is at best a weak candidate, and if there is a presidential debate, Joe will stammer his way to failure. Even though Joe and traffic cone of treason boy are nearly the same age, Joe looks like the walking dead. Orange jeezuz is an energetic ball of insane and dangerous rhetoric, openly admitting he will immediately become a dictator if elected. I am so weary of having to hold my nose when voting for a president.

Best way to fly BKK to US west cost?
HappyExpat57 replied to GypsyT's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
China Airlines gave me a free upgrade to business class years ago, can't ever go back to economy again. LOTS of room - the seat reclines all the way to a bed. Small, but much better on the legs. As well, you have access to their lounges. I JUST finished a reservation from Bangkok to San Francisco, $3509 USD. Las Vegas is just a short jaunt from there. Additional notes: I usually fly EVA but they have NO business class flights available for the March-April dates I wanted, AND China was a little less expensive. -
External drive can't be fixed by local shops, where to take it?
HappyExpat57 replied to Deserted's topic in IT and Computers
If you wind up getting a replacement drive, go SSD - then get TWO drives and familiarize yourself with backing up your info. Many moons ago, I was in charge of the company's backups, and we had a saying: if it's not backed up then it doesn't truly exist. -
What is that rotten stench coming out of the Taps?

I lived in a place where the water was from a well with very high sulphur content. The water always smelled like dookie and I felt more soiled AFTER the shower than when I went in. -

Thai students rank below average in global education survey
HappyExpat57 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I seem to recall a recent election where the people's choice was rescinded by the military in power. I wouldn't call the people dumb, I'd say rather they're helpless to do anything. -

I used to work for the largest private school system in all of Southeast Asia (and if you know, you know). I did time in several of their branches, and they had one constant - many of the foreign teachers got PLOWED on a nightly basis, and the school admins were aware. Of course not all, but a disturbing number of them. As long as you had a white face and didn't get caught molesting the students, you were good to go. -

Lately?!? I've seen this same story and the same replies posted for almost two decades (and that's all I'm aware of - most likely has been going on long before). -

I like what Joe has accomplished, but he's WAY too long in the tooth. His paraphrased words: "I'm a one-term president to make sure you-know-who doesn't win the election." Joe's hubris has a strong chance of destroying democracy as we know it in the US. We ALL know what a dumpster fire the likely Republican candidate is. IF you buy into polls, ANY unknown Democrat candidate handily beats dumpster fire by a sizeable number of votes, while Joe is virtually neck-and-neck, sometimes in the lead, sometimes NOT. It absolutely SUCKS thinking "THIS is the best both parties can come up with?" I'm tired of having to hold my nose when making this choice. Again.

Facebook has gone crazy draconian with their AI censorship. I got flagged for referring to MYSELF as a fat old guy. Seemingly innocent phrases will knock you out of the loop and you have NO RECOURSE. Trying to complain to a FB admin is futile. I doubt 1 in 10,000 requests for more info are looked at. Move on to Instagram. MUCH more lenient, and where I used to find myself getting in arguments (much like this arena) I've found myself less and less on FB and AN, and more on Instagram, actually laughing at posts. Instagram seems like what FB used to be.

Republican George Santos expelled from Congress in bipartisan vote
HappyExpat57 replied to CharlieH's topic in World News
Here's the deal - the Republicans fought like hell to defend him cuz they needed his vote. Then it became apparent he would tarnish their already filthy party reputation and hurt their reelection bids. At that time, they turned on him and the rest is now history. The trouble with government is there's just too much politics. -

Oh, he's gonna be held accountable. The best he can hope for is a plea deal, and I can't imagine what he has of any value to negotiate for a lower sentence. -

There were STILL 114 Repubs and 1 Dem who voted against expelling him. -
