  1. 176 should be ok at your age. There are other ways of lowering your BP without enriching big pharma if you are that concerned. Years ago the school of thought was that the lower number was the most important, now they are saying the higher number is the most important. No BS from me. Only BS from the medical community looking at their bottom line first. I will never take any of those tablets. Each to their own.
  2. 100 plus your age is ok for the higher number from what I am told. That is the the most important number as well. Don't fall into the big pharma trap.
  3. Couldn't agree more. I have worked there and seen them first hand in all their glory. In my opinion it is the biggest dump on the planet. Leave any valuables lying around in the workplace and they will be gone, they can't help themselves. All those natural resources, great weather and fertile land is completely wasted on them. It's all down to leadership. My cousin married one of them in Ireland. He got the Irish passport and was gone. The UK is now full of Nigerian criminals. Terrible people.
  4. Get well soon! I had a friend brake a collar bone in a motorbike accident. He needed surgery, cost 400,000 baht. That seems very cheap for 2 nights in hospital with all those injuries. Good luck!
  5. I had an issue with a neighbour stealing water when I lived in a cr@ppy Thai Soi in Pattaya. She would lean over the wall and connect her hose to a tap on my side. She would then hose the road down cleaning all the dog <deleted> up, over a distance of about 5 houses. She would do this every evening. I think she was 1 can short of a 6 pack. I let her get on with it. BTW she has an accessible tap on her side.
  6. 100% agree with the above. Best area to live in Chiang Mai.
  7. Not sure if Scoot are even flying that route anymore. I looked a while back and there were no available flights. Booking through a third party can be a problem in situations like this. It doesn't always pay to go for the cheapest flight. I use Skyscanner to see what is available and then go straight to the Airline. In my opinion the best 2 options for Bangkok are EVA and Thai direct, booked through the airline. Less can go wrong. Emirates or Qatar not bad options as well.
  8. Not a lack of interest.... more a lack of people that would qualify for it. For certain individuals it could be a much better option. Time will tell.
  9. I thought the 17% tax was for the highly skilled professionals category. I thought this might fall under the wealthy pensioner category. Earning more than 80k USD outside of Thailand. What does it matter if the money has come from pensions or earned overseas? Not sure how they would collect the tax anyway? Nobody I know working overseas (oil and gas) has paid a penny in tax in Thailand.... and I know quite a few people in that category. This also includes people working in the Gulf of Thailand BTW.
  10. Would somebody that works overseas (oil and gas), over 50 years old, currently on a retirement visa and earns 120k usd a year qualify? Any thoughts?
  11. All the immigrants being treated at the UK tax payers expense.
  12. My Dog was Black and Brown with a small White area. His name is Birmingham!!
  13. Albanians seem to be the current flavour of the month. Mostly men in their 20's and 30's. They will be teaming up with their friends already in the UK. Going forward these people will contribute nothing to the UK. They have no intention of finding ''real'' work. Game over! The UK is ruined and there is no way back. I am glad to be out of it. I will never live there again.
  14. None of us know what really started the trouble, just pure speculation again. Don't believe what you read in Thai news articles especially when falangs are involved. What we do know is he was subject to a cowardly attack, instigated by a f@t gobby sk@nk!! That we know for certain!
  15. Same as all the others then! Go direct to the airline and cut out the 3rd party.
  16. Was it a Samsung SSD by any chance. I have just ordered 2 of them?
  17. Never heard of that before. Thanks for your input.
  18. Thanks Joe, What about the bank statements for the first 3 months? Are they required?
  19. Another question please? It has been 3 months since my last extension (retirement). I am currently with the BKK Bank. I am considering opening a separate SCB account, putting 800k in it and forgetting about it. Only to be used for extensions. In 9 months time when I come to do the next extension and if they ask for 12 months bank statements it will only be able to show the money has been in for 9 months and not for 3 months at the start, after my current extension. Hope that makes sense? Will this be a problem?
  20. Does a ''fixed deposit'' account negate the need for 12 months of bank statements.
  21. If you have a fixed deposit account with SCB or BKK Bank with 800k for a retirement visa will you need the 12 months bank statements as well as the letter from the bank? BKK Bank take a week. SCB take a day I believe?
  22. Thai's don't like not guilty pleas. If they say you are guilty then you are guilty!! It doesn't matter what you say. I think the fact that she was a foreign teenage girl when arrested spared her the "plastic bag'' treatment. The drugs will be resold by the ''real criminals," we all know who they are. A wedge of money early on would have got her out of this awful predicament. If she actually knew what she was signing for is pure speculation and irrelevant, the payoff was not made and the boyfriend scarpered.
