I just find it strange that people with no relation to Thailand spend so much time on a Thailand issue forum. I travelled to many countries around the world, in some countries more than in other, I have friends in many countries, yet I'm not a member of any forum if any of those countries.
You're entitled to your opinions, if course, they're just irrelevant here. That's my opinion.
A lot of people spend their time in multiple places during a year. That is if they can afford to do so.
Where is the annual quota of days resident in Thailand to be allowed to post on aseannow?
Your post is ridiculous.
Many have been based abroad during covid for various reasons.
If you spend 6 months normally in a country, you have a relevance to it.
My opinion is as relevant as yours.
Sorry.

No links as usual just insults.
Nothing changes with the deniers.

So I do I. And to me it is irrelevant why you DON'T want to live in Thailand.
You seem to be getting a little worked up.
You decided to quote my response to someone else.
It was you who stuck your nose in and started talking about "sour cherries".
Have you a factual disagreement about a point or post i made?
Or do you want to just keep posting in capitals?

Yet for someone that doesn't live here you spend a lot of time on this forum...
Many who don't live in Thailand have opinions on this forum.
They have not returned because of covid, Thailand's reaction to it and the Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital roll of the dice.
Do you actually have a point to make about any of my posts?
What points have i made that you think are incorrect?

Satisfied? No. I have lived in Thailand for the last 20 years because I like it here. And part of that is not vexing myself over things that I have no control. I have no impression that the place is perfect. When I no longer like the place, I will leave. But for the first 12 years here, one of the great benefits was access to reasonable health insurace which I could not obtain in the US.
But you can have your sour cherries if you like.
You don't seem to understand.
I keep my assets in my home country and can travel/live where i want.
It's called options and choices.
Many have sold up and burned their bridges.
This is a discussion forum.
If you don't like an opposing view maybe you should look elsewhere.
For the record, i couldn't care less if you've lived on the moon for the last 20 years.
It's irrelevant.

Twisting the facts as always.
You just can't accept the overwhelming benefits of vaccination and appear to be in a minority of one on this forum at the moment.
The evidence of 2 jabs and a booster to stop serious illness and hospitalisation is factually overwhelming.
Your tedious illogical, ill informed and plain wrong views are thankfully becoming background noise globally.

I don't and wouldn't live in Thailand.
I enjoy extended visits when the rewards outweigh the risks.
I enjoy many aspects of the fun to be had in Thailand and have traveled extensively in Thailand and SE Asia.
Just as many Thailand expats think it's perfect, i point out that in my opinion it isn't.

Hope he's ok .
Seems strange to be phoning people if your seriously ill.
Difficult to always validate stories on an internet forum.
Did he not get a booster?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-59840524
88% of stopping hospitalisation.
Don't know of anyone who's got seriously ill from omicron.
Most boosted people get symptoms of a bad cold.

count the deaths and then count Thailands
Some people think poverty robs people of their lives and livelihoods.
Thailand has left large parts of their citizens in debt and poverty.
No government support.
It's disgusting.
Thailand has failed on every available metric.
Their figures are laughable but yet people still fall for them.

Who cares about the cases...deaths are important. Now tell me you see from the satellite photos the crematoriums in Surat Thani are working 24 hours, city can be seen from smoke, and AIS unexpectedly lost 2 million customers ????
Unfortunately, the Thai government care about cases.
Otherwise why don't they open the borders?
The population depending on that 12 to 20% of GDP is just getting further and further into debt.
Children not being allowed to play with each other in their playgrounds because of the authorities paranoid mindset.
Hysterically funny, don't you think?

No, it sounds like i'm a person who's quoting the figures. Facts. Lol.
Western economies supported their businesses and citizens with economic support so that they would bounce back when the economy reopened.
Guess what? They did.
Thailand has the most unequal wealth distribution of SE Asia. No support for the population but you, like most Thai huggers, bang on about a country you most likely burned your bridges with years ago.
Living in Nakhon Nowhere blaming everyone but themselves.
I would think Thailand's Hi-so's did very well out of the pandemic.
Try and accept the reality and facts.
Got any links about Thailand's GDP growth?
https://www.ft.com/content/d26ccd56-ebb9-43a8-b6b1-ff8361ca9876
US unemployment at 3.9%
What do you think Thailand's real unemployment rate is with tourism going from 40 million to 400,000?
What are the Thai authorities doing to help their citizens?
A 5000 baht hand out.

Not much capital gain here, but the properties were cheap, espec. with the AUD and STG exchange rates! Sell up now and repatriate the money to your home country, and make >30%.
Yes, this is our country now, and any investments are actually for our wives when we kick the bucket!
As for education, it's up to the student and family. Most lower-middle class kids in the UK are pretty thick and unemployable, and without the "niceness" of Asian kids.
Also, in Oz and the UK, we're foreigners and dinosaurs in our own countries.....not too different from our status in Thailand!
The ignorance on this forum is genuinely quite shocking.
Here's two links to show your totally divorced from reality.
https://www.economicshelp.org/blog/5709/housing/market/
https://www.theguardian.com/money/2021/nov/16/uk-rents-rising-zoopla
This is the UK house price index. It rose 10% last year.
UK rents rose 4.5% last year and are exceptionally strong.
Can you point me to a link for 3% per annum growth?
Pattaya condos have had their rents reduced for years before Covid due to oversupply.
For the last 2 years they have just been empty.
I genuinely don't know whether to laugh or cry at some of the posts made on this forum.
Are you seriously suggesting i sell my UK properties to buy property in Thailand?

Other variants are sure to come because of rich countries' selfishness.
Like developing vaccines and therapeutics and donating them to third world toilets like Thailand?
In case you have forgotten, Thailand didn't join Covax and couldn't be bothered spending it's foreign reserves on said vaccines.
That's why it remains behind the developed world.
Stop the self pity and maybe familiarise yourself with the facts.

Why am i looking at a brick wall, did you miss the bit about quarantine no longer being required, if that's what you're referring to.
You must have some interest in Thailand judging by your frequency to this forum, perhaps it's becoming to expensive for you?
You obviously can't even bother reading this forum before posting your Thai hugging pearls of wisdom.
You must have enjoyed counting the bathroom tiles for your first 14 day quarantine.

Post us a link to the Thailand property market increasing at 10% per annum.
UK rental income the strongest it's ever been.
Expats getting out of Thailand because the schools have been closed for a few years.
Taking their kids back to the UK to get a decent education.
Not only have you chained yourself to Thailand but you have flushed your money down the toilet and been brainwashed by the natives.
You employed by TAT to supplement your frozen state pension.

It's up to them, did you not read my post where it mentioned it's likely not going to appeal to short term tourists? Long term expats would probably go home and be cautious of where they go between day 2 and 5, right?
I'm not apologising but for someone that has returned 3 times under CoE and twice with Thai Pass things are most definately improving, you cannot deny that.
OR
Are you one of these people that are an expert without even having travelled in the last 24 months?
NO.
I'm one of the 39,600,000 people who decided to go elsewhere.
If you hadn't of chained yourself to Thailand you wouldn't have had to jump through all the ridiculous hoops to return.
People just cancel or reschedule their trip while you stare at a brick wall for a fortnight.

Thailand will lose all their tourism business to their SE Asia rivals unless they drop the testing on arrival. Testing on arrival is pointless now that Omicron is already among the population.
I tried to explain that to one poster last week but he didn't seem to grasp the concept of domestic community spread.

Agreed, for regular tourists it's stupid but for long term expats that travel regularly, it's not the end of the world, much easier than CoE and much better than either 7 or 14 day quarantine.
It's 5 or 6 day quarantine in all but name.
You think people are going to get involved in stress free mingling from day 1 to day 5?
At least you've been constant, as usual, in apologising for the Thai half wits.
If they organised lynchings at BKK for people who fail the first test, you could most likely try to put a positive spin on it.

Nobody is interested in their Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital scheme.
40 million to 400,000 tourists says it all.
Omicron has now peaked and declining rapidly in UK, US and Europe.
Covid is now becoming endemic and is being accepted as such by western governments.
The US just announced decade beating GDP growth and France has announced 7% growth and the best figures in 50 years.
Meanwhile, Anutin lists more rules and demands to what Thailand will accept as endemic Covid.
People will not travel to a country that will change rules of entry at the drop of a hat.

Totally agree.
If the Thai health system isn't going to be overwhelmed now, it never will.
Tourist area bars and meet and greet gogos are beginning to open until 11pm.
It's now an exercise in control by the Thai government.
Pointless exercise in starving the country of tourist income.
I don't understand the grand standing by the Thai authorities.
