Another Jail Sentence for Holocaust Denier “Nazi Grandma”
KhunLA replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I knew that before coming here, and I'm a guess, and do realize it's a 3rd world country. Aside from less majeste, I think I can say and express any opinion I like. My opinions mean nothing here, and I'm not a citizen, so I really don't care what goes on. Their country, do as they please. I came here to retire, not change anything. Mai Pen Rai -

Form 7162 Anybody Received Theirs Yet for 2024?
KhunLA replied to John Drake's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
I've yet to be able to open an account on MySSA, and failed in every attempt to. Gave up, as don't really need. As long as SS keeps coming every month, there's nothing I need from them, I don't think. -

If I'm not mistaken, simply displaying a swastika is illegal. That's nuts, so yes, I like my freedom of expression, and would avoid the EU & UK. Yep ... sad tyranny exists in so many places. When free thinking is illegal, you've got problems. -

I wouldn't call that hate speech, just a difference of opinion. Why I wouldn't ever go to Germany or probably the EU or UK. Actually more screwed up (PC/less freedoms) that the USA. Part of why I left the USA. -
Also make sure it has a -0- deductible, or option to purchase.

Sorry, censorship is never acceptable. Might not believe in what you say, but believe in your right to state, no matter how wrong it is. If they can call something 'safe & effective' that is neither, and actually kills people, she can believe or not believe, say and think, anything she wants. -

Add the new address to the 7162 where it askes if address has changed. Tried the SSA site, unsuccessfully and also with IDme Even called the supplied ph# and every time, it's 20 minutes on hold, then disconnected. If they don't notice this one, I'll change it via Manila. I don't file tax returns, contrary to popular belief, I'm too poor ... -

Seems just a different color plate would be easy enough. Don't need to over think it.

One's children, the others are 20 yr old (at leas) professionals. Yea, quite the difference. Unless being paid to, no 18-19-20 year old (his preference) is going to be talking to him at 52 yrs old & overweight. You don't need any conversation starter with a pro, besides .... "How much ?"

bidens migrant crisis will cost him his Election
KhunLA replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Immigration, low on his list of failures. Inflation and run away housing cost hits every Yank, every day. Immigration only affects the low end salaries of unskilled labor, although, that does seem to be about 1/3 to 1/2 the workforce. Even at $20 an hour, it's a struggle to get ahead. The American Dream is elsewhere, not in the USA -

If looking for less heat & humidity, OP is going to have to consider another country. It the tropics, hot most of the year, and RH 60-80% even in dry season.. Sun blazing and UV levels high. Did I mention ... it's the tropics -
What city in Thailand has the best weather?
KhunLA replied to Rachel2023's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Just outside Prachuap Khiri Khan municipality. About an hour+ below Hua Hin. Which is a bit of a hassle, considering, HH Imm (100 kms away) is where we have to do any immigration paperwork or visa extensions. Fishing town, that gets some local weekenders. Got some pretty bays, though nothing I'd swim in. No nightlife, which I consider a plus, though most would be bored. Can't really say I'd recommend for a single person, or a family person, as schools are a bit to be desired, and not even a Uni here. Pineapple & coconut farmers, aside from fishing. Quiet life suits us, and daughter got decent school elsewhere and Uni @ Bangkok area. If not wanting to be close to Bangkok, where daughter lives, we'd probably live further south. Chumphon or Nahhon Si Thammarat on gulf side, or Krabi city on Andaman side. Muang Phang Nga (municipality) for a rural-ish city area, as quite lovely. -
I'm in the 'if at all' side of that. Don't even have any at the house. Stop buying boxes/slabs, as took too long to finish; 24 Beer Lao Darks (330ml) or Kopper Kraft (490ml). Might take 6 months to finish, and had to buy when filled within 2 months. Last bottle of Bacardi's I had, lasted couple years

What city in Thailand has the best weather?
KhunLA replied to Rachel2023's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
To live ... full time, part time, or to visit ? To live full time, you're screwed. As best non hot weather, would be N or NE. BUT ... half the year the air is literally unhealthy to breath. PM2.5 is slightly to off the charts unhealthy during smog season. Fresher air and maybe more of a rainy season, more overcast & less brutal sun, along with sea or up in the (low) hills breeze, then Chumphon and below. Just came back from Phrae & CM area, and it was lovely. Stunning landscape, decent temps (overnight), but I couldn't live there from Nov-May. Why we visit there only in rainy season now, and about 4 years in a row, since covid. Used to live at Udon Thani, and it got damn chilly for 6-8 weeks, teens to single digit C. Lovely overnight temps during cool season, but had to deal with the air pollution. Live 1+ hr below Hua Hin now, and only about 2 months of air pollution, but not real break from the heat. Only during rainy season, when overcast and rainy like now. Actually didn't need the AC overnight last night, though rare. As use it just to knock the RH down. In a perfect situation, split your time N & S, six months of the year.
