Technically possible. Pigeon excretion contains "Saltpeter", one of the 3 ingredients needed to make gunpowder. So if they could muster some charcoal say from an open wood burning fire and Sulphur, say from some match heads or concrete powder, mix them together and chuck a lit match onto the mixture, then, booooooom.

For UK sport and SkyF1, then contact ChigwellSatellite.co.uk. Was a bit pricey as was just after the F1. Have resorted to torrent downloading and watching 24 hours in arrears. There's a couple of UK guys that stream and record the Sky feed, so you can still get Ted's notebooks as well as the F1 show. A more local option, without the F1 is Astro Sport from Malaysia (they lost their F1 license this year), get Premier League / Spanish footy, but more importantly Sky coverage of the Ashes. Re 'Er 'n doors, TV most likely has more than one HDMI socket, so you can switch inputs on the TV between Thai set-top box and your International box.

Was in Fortune Town yesterday, saw a couple up on the 3rd floor. Was after mini PC so didn't make a note of prices. Also a Lenovo repair centre there, so might be worth enquiring there as well.

Back when I was a lad (Desktop support engineer), then Mac SE and Mac II. However come 1994/5 when the EU 'Elf & Safety regs came in for the workplace, then binned them as failed with lack of Tilt & Swivel on the monitor. So been a Microsoft, Unix and latterly Chrome user ever since. In fact I had the original Dell Notebook for a while, (S/N = NB000001). First owner was Michael Dell. Unfortunately went to recycling heaven, might be worth a bob or two now. Currently, HP i5 Pavilion 15 for general 'Tinternet, e-mail and App development or Unix boot, Dell i7 Laptop for a non-network digital recording studio, HP Chrome book for Torrenting, (using SneakerNet for added security for any downloads), Asus i5 mini PC for a multimedia NAS and TV system and a Dell i5 mini PC. Keeps me busy.

Simple device to monitor the local internet?
RayWright replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in IT and Computers
Hi OneMoreFarang, As update, Dell i5 Optiplex 3700THB. 3rd floor. NSS (Network Solution & Service). They've got 12+ from an Enterprise business sell off. -
Never got into Rumpole, as was on ITV, to misquote Mark Twain, "a good programme ruined", due to the adverts. Being an ex-Oenophile, due to the cost out here, however, I did buy a bottle of 2016 Thai red wine the other day for 399THB, leaving it till the Silverstone weekend to demolish it with some cheese. Could be an enjoyable experience, or a quick relocation to the paint stripper / drain clearance department.

Have you just cracked the mystery Phuket bug? Take-away Friday isn't the same without a starter of a Martini. (3 parts Gin, 1 part vodka and 3/4 part Lillet Blanc. Shaken not stirred. Couple of beers or ciders Sat and Sun, dry the rest of the week.

Simple device to monitor the local internet?

Not an issue. You can run Client based PRTG externally or Cloud version and interrogate the remote site's router. Does assume static IP Address. As opposed to using a Pi, I've used second-hand mini PC's, as minimal footprint, LAN connected to router if on a floating IP address. In fact up in Bangkok next week so was going to take a look at Fortune Town as after one myself. Should be, or was the equivalent of THB 4,500. (Based on previous experience in UK & Singapore). -

Might be a bit over the top, but would recommend Paessler PRTG. Have used it to monitor voltage supply to CER via Room Alert sensors as well as specific device power distribution units and UPS. As MJCM says, also use a Ping 8.8.8.8 & or 8.8.4.4 script to confirm WAN connectivity. PRTG scripting allows you to PING constantly and alert on failure or provide periodic AOK updates. Assumes you have a UPS and mobile SMS at the site for success during a power / WAN outage. -

Where would you retire -- if money wasn't an issue?
RayWright replied to gargamon's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Mostly likely Majorca, buy some land and build an off-grid storage container villa, elevated with sea views for Mar through till Oct. Oct to Mar, then back here in Jomtien. Plus a couple of F1 weekends (Melbourne, Singapore & Silverstone) a year and the Rugby World Cup and Lions tour every 4 years. Couple of mill would easily cover it. -
The zone / floor isolation valve is common practice. However, not trying to be synical, but I would check the valve is open, as well as the system is pressurised. Had an old office building years ago, where someone had turned off the iso valve to carry out some refurbishment works, but never turned it back on. It had been off for over 6 months!

Do you believe that Tina had a BIG CRUSH on Mick?

Not according to the other "Glimmer Twin's" autobiography, Life in 2010. He revealed that Jagger's ex, Marianne Faithful, "had no fun with his tiny todger". But he did go on to say, "I know he's got an enormous pair of balls, but it doesn't quite fill the gap". -
Saw one in England near Brighton driving down a country lane, painted military green in and around 1990. Was with a motoring journalist at the time who said "the perfect car for any [African] general who wants to win a coup". Luckily not seen any recently! Apparently Lamborghini made only 328. Not sure how many are left.

In terms of your arrhythmia, I take it you're on some sort of medication to maintain it? Not sure if you've seen this before, I've found this very useful for performing the odd quick check, the unit links to your mobile, and can e-mail the scan to your physician at the press of a button. If you Google portable ECG monitor you'll see this as well as others. Good luck, and as Sheryl has said, go tomorrow.
