  1. Unfortunately the Reithian values are all but lost on today's BBC management. Educate, Inform and Entertain.
  2. Not an issue, judging by recent political decisions in the UK and Ireland and other European countries they'll be welcomed with open arms, given a house or a hotel, private medical care, a mobile phone, clothing, cash handouts etc.
  3. The big question remains. Will Bruce Willis still be alive to save us?
  4. The BBC can't even get their apology right. Avoiding to various Middle East news outlets today, he still is the Deputy Argiculture Minister.
  5. Cameron did the same trick in 2010 after he won the General Election, however due to not having a full majority went into partnership with Nick Clegg. As part of a cost saving initiative, any expenditure in both Government and Local Government over £50,000:00 needed Cabinet Approval. Remember as a project team having to negotiate with Danny Alexander (Chief Secretary to The Treasury) to get permission to buy a new phone system. Admittedly this was controlling new expenditure, however it needs the approach of Musky's bovver boys to address the mine field of existing contracts and services that are unnecessary. Wonder if Cooper's findings will put a stop to 2Tiers jet setting lifestyle!
  6. Obviously not driving a Ferrari at 177km/h made it easier to apprehend the Red Notice issued individual.
  7. Saw him fight Lennox at the old Cardiff Arms Park, think it was the last public event before it closed, also in Glasgow, which was a 3 round affair. Having been to a Frank and Harry (Carpenter) evening, it needs a good interviewer to make the evening happen and to get Frank talking. Noticed from all the promotional blurb, nothing said as to who the other person is. I'll keep to my memories and give this a miss.
  8. I thought the 1978 Bio of the Prefab Four was an Excellent rockumentary, afterall, All You Need Is Cash!
  9. Rummaging around on TPB found the complete unabridged set of Not The Nine O'clock News (4 series), stared Rowan Atkinson, Griff Rhys Jones, Mel Smith and Pamela Stephenson. Series 1 also stared Chris Langham as Griff only had a minor role then, this changed from Series 2 onwards. Oh we could all take a joke then. Thought this is relevant, just change the names to bring it upto date, leave you to work out who's who.
  10. My YT feed spouted this, do vaguely remember seeing this back in the day on French & Saunders on BBC1. According to IMDB, from Thursday 19th April 1990. The talent in the room on the day, just amazing. Apologies nicked off French TV, so useful if you want to brush up your lingo.
  11. ISO 13009:2015 establishes general requirements and recommendations for beach operators that offer tourist and visitor services. It provides guidance for both beach operators and users regarding the delivery of sustainable management and planning, beach ownership, sustainable infrastructure and service provision needs, including beach safety, information and communication, cleaning and waste removal. Interesting ISO13009 doesn’t cover water quality, so you may have a pretty looking sandy / aggregate beach, with a bit of signage and an organised beach cleaning operation i.e. a couple of bins and coconut branch beach umbrellas, and a couple of indigenous natives selling the local brew. Yet in terms of water quality standards, much is driven by The World Health Organisation (WHO), which in recent days has lost a shedload of funding. As a former active member of the SAS in the UK, that's Surfers against Sewage incase there's any confusion, I wouldn't even dip my toes in the local water.
  12. Wow. Didn't know this existed, as never seen it repeated in later years. Having said that, transmitted in 1969, we didn't have a Tele for another 2 years, so easily missed. (Queue reminiscing of the 4 Yorkshire Men sketch). Written by Johnny Speight, who was on a hiatus between series 3 and 4 of Till Death Us Do Part at the time. Great cast, Spike Milligan, Eric Sykes, Kenny Lynch amongst others. Interesting, Produced by Norma Farnes, who was both Spike's Manager as well as Eric's. Will D/L and add into the library. Cheers @sometime.
  13. 2Teir getting desperate for investment, looks like they have allowed the Chinese to build a mega sized Embassy at the site of the Royal Mint at Royal Mint Court. Obviously the kick-back is we'll lower your security category risk. Expect more Chinese 'Police' assisting in removal of Oriental looking persons on UK soil.
  14. What I find interesting is that Ritz's hotel Mercedes driven by Henry Paul is still in a shipping container in a Parisian scrapyard. Potentially worth millions, it's been left untouched for years. Adding to the conspiracy theories, Sir Ranulph Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes, aka Ranulph Fiennes writes factual, biographical and works of fiction. In his book 'The Feather Men', somewhat out of character to the style of the book, he goes into great length to explain, with diagrams a "technique" called The Boston Brakes. Allegedly developed by the boys down in Langley, it is a remote device to disable large luxury cars whilst in transit. Just saying.
  15. Try LimeTorrents. Can't remember where I found it, but was either TPB or Lime, else TorrentGalaxy, did D/L within last 2 weeks. DM me if close to Pats as will happily swap you for a beer.
  16. 2 very good points. If I could add a third, the price of Toblerone. Like a good yodel between the peaks.
  17. Not sure how the Kathoey's will do this. Care to expand?
  18. With a couple of mahouts on his back, he could be playing "Two-Up".
  19. Interesting, being intoxicated and carrying weapons would seem to be allowed!
  20. In UK Tabloid speak it's called a 'sh!t sandwich'. Good news, or a media grabbing headline in the morning to get everyone talking, then release the bad news for the Lunchtime news, which most people don't follow, then follow up with a 2nd good news or media grabbing event for the evening news. In effect the midday announcement gets burried. Classic example would be Jo Moore who was a special advisor in the last Labour Government who capitalised on the phrase "good day to bury the (bad) news" when the 9/11 atrocities happened in the US. It took 5 months before she was sacked.
  21. Downtown Jontien currently 151. Good news a spectacular sunset is underway.
  22. You could always try Jamacian Viagra. A mixture of Dorset Muesli, Guinness and milk. Google it if you don't believe me.
  23. Found a 1080p version of the 1985 BBC series Edge of Darkness. Had a VHS copy for years, but picture quality totally naff. So much so it was pointless watching it. At the shooting scene at the beginning practically wore the tape out trying to freeze frame the image to see who the shooter was. Clear as day on the digital version! Music is by Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen. Great haunting guitar by EC. Remember him playing tracks from Edge of Darkness when he did his residency at the Royal Albert Hall in 1990 with Michael Kamen conducting the National Philharmonic Orchestra. Stars Bob Peck, with a young Joanne Whalley as his daughter. Also Tim McInnerny, aka Captain Darling from Blackadder 4. With Joe Don Baker as the Amercian. (Trivial fact, Joe has played both a baddie and a goodie (x2) in 3 James Bond movies). That's my pre-movie experience for the next 6 days sorted.
