  1. If you fancy a good dry cider, then Thatchers Vintage at 8.3%. Thailand's sole importer of Thatchers is based in Welcome Town, Pattaya.
  2. I'm sorry, but it doesn't take 14,000 people to a DC this size.
  3. Expect another X-Twitter overload of pics of hanging cables as with 2022's The Greatest Beer Run Ever. Maybe the Kiwi is on a challenge to get more of Bangkok tidied up as with Prayut Chan-o-Cha's reaction to his last visit. Although worthy of the Oscar in Gladiator, I found his performance in his 2nd Ridley Scott collaboration more enjoyable, namely 2006's A Good Year.
  4. Interesting Press Statement, article heavily emphasises the Picadilly lights, yet choose to add a photo of a tourist bus taken at the back door of Selfridges on Edwards Mews with Nations House as the backdrop. Could they not afford a shot showing the front door? As to the strap line "Think Thailand Next Level". Is that promoting some new game?
  5. In the UK been flashing oncoming traffic to warn of Cops Ahead since the late '60's. My dad taught me. Although technically illegal by the Highway Code. Also as a country bumkin, warn oncoming traffic of horses on country lanes. Do the two hands off the wheel and up & down in parallel, as if using reigns manoeuvre.
  6. Reminds me of an incident during the group stages of the 2002 world cup. Scotland were playing Croatia in Zagreb, and the Tartan Army, aka The Scottish Supports Club were in full attendance. Result was 1 all, so Scotland still in with a chance with much bonhomie all round. A leading member of the Tartan Army (a renowned lawyer, no names mentioned) somewhat ratarsed when presented with the airport X-Ray machine on the way back; wearing full Highland dress decided to speed things up by diving himself head first though without removing any of his full tartan regalia, kilt pin, sporran, sgian-dubh as well as a couple of ceremonial swords. The event and copies of the X-Ray pictures were hilarious but never made it to the national press or Social Media. Such was the ability at the time for self editing, not so today amongst today's 'Like me, Like me' generations.
  7. Would agree, also still playing. As is Steve Hackett, his "Circus and the Nightwhale" album released in February this year, shows he's still developing, not just resting on his laurels. Having said that, Dave's new album "Luck and Strange", released in April, which he says is his best since Dark Side. I would disagree, great orchestrations and solo's, a bit of a family affair, as daughter Romany and sons Joe and Charlie all guest, plus wife Polly Samson provides most of the lyrics. It's a nice album, not his best. The best is Jeff Beck, sadly no longer with us. Still developing and playing up until his death in January last year. His control and mastery made him the guitarist's guitarist. Having just played a 2 hour set at Ronnie Scott's, his encore track is just amazing.
  8. If you fancy a bit of Glaswegian Amateur Dramatics, none finer than Alex Harvey.
  9. The alternative lyrics need to be credited to The Flying Helmet, aka Roy Chubby Brown, or Royston Vassey as he is in real life, who inspired the town where the League of Gentlemen reside!
  10. "We go home on Monday, but we want to say it's really been a gas this time". The above is a quote from Steve Marriott just before the last track ( I don't need no Doctor) on the album. Having just played a 2 night residency that went down a storm, just thanking the audience. For me, am staying here (Jomtien) for at least the next couple of years at least.
  11. One of my all time favorite albums is Performance: Rocking the Fillmore by Humble Pie, recorded in May 1971. The classic lineup that included a 21 year old Peter Frampton, Steve Marriott and Messrs Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley on rhythm section. "We go home on Monday, but we want to say it's really been a gas this time". Fillmore East and West was always the staple for acts over from the UK.
  12. Smirnoff Blue works better. Just saying.
  13. Technically possible, break down the chemical elements of Hydrogen and Oxygen and ignite the Hydrogen in an Oxygen rich environment. Trick would be to get the weight of the apparatus required within your Hand Lugage limit.
  14. We're talking Airport prices, so nearer 107 or even 207 THB saving! I know in UK / European Airports it's mandatory to have a water fountain, maybe it's International. Trick the Airport Authorities use is to hide it so you can't find it. On the other hand, I know the Aussie Authorities are strict on what comes into their country, and quite rightly so. However was on a flight in March from Swampy to Sydney, at the gate they made everyone discard any Water they had, unopened bottles and contents of personal water bottles. Totally get it when disembarking in Sydney in that no foreign liquids, but being forced to drink airline decantered water, no thanks. Made a point of asking for the small bottles or watch them pour it from a large plastic bottle. That sort of action should be made clear at time of ticket purchase, or being informed at check-in. Must of been over a 100 bottles, which at 120 Baht each all thrown down the drain.
  15. That's really sad, remember him when in played in Sky.
  16. Would that be the one in Dublin or Surrey. Seam to recall there wasn't a Dorset College in Dorset. Bob, you're creating quite a hit, as if you search Dorset College, a link to AN and a Colin Neville appears in the search list. Wow, Bob's trending on Google.
  17. Gone are the days when posh hotels were family affairs. Staff who didn't job flit; that you could build a repor with and would welcome you back as a long lost friend. The Rock Hotel in Gibraltar was one, great customer service, nothing was ever a problem. Just follow a few house rules, as in don't leave your windows open unattended otherwise the bloody apes were 'In like Flint' and rummaging and stealing and making a right mess. The Goodwood Park in Singapore, another classic of outstanding decor and Customer Service. The Manderin Oriental in Hong Kong still retains its magic, in fact there next month for a school reunion. The Gran Melia Victoria in Palma de Majorcca as the flagship 5* hotel of the Melia Group use to be brilliant, until younger management in Melia Group took over the reigns, staff changes, modern upgrades, lost its magic feel. Use to swap Christmas presents with the door staff, 40 years service, dropped for younger inexperienced staff, same with the Head Concierge, who had Les Clef d'Or dropped for a 20+ something without a clue or experience. When high class hotels are run by Bean Counters the magic stops, they become functional as opposed to wonderful memories and experiences.
  18. Colonel Nicholson suffered much worst, his only symptoms was his stooping walk!
  19. Had an issue with Thai Airways couple of years ago, they cancelled the flight, so took the option for a refund. After couple of months; no monies, tried phoning, but RTNR (Ring Tone No Reply), so as up in Bangkok took a visit to their office. Met a fantastic Customer Services Agent who spoke to Refunds, also gave me their ex-directory e-mail to keep in contact, money returned in a week. Not saying you should nip over to KL, but sometimes the old fashioned face-to-face customer service is best.
  20. It's probably a forgery.
  21. Obviously a slow news day. Enterprising chap wanted a couple of photos to show off his new Isuzu.
  22. Bit hard to tell from the photos, more aerial shots would helpful, but on first impression looks like some ship has flushed their tanks. Probably hoping on bad weather to disperse the evidence.
  23. Thanks for reply. Yes have GG login, was hoping to save time by not having to call. Will Skype them tomorrow for some clarity.
  24. Gents, do you know of a link to a NI calculator, as have a number of missing years, 3 historic, early 1980's, so can't address as more than 6 years ago. However have 3 years from 2020 that I could topup. So wanting to check benefits (if any) of paying my £2k+ shortfall, plus the 2023/2024 figure when it's published, in terms of increased weekly payout. Bit puzzled in terms of the 35 years eligibility status, as I believe this is effective from 2016 Pension Changes, so in effect only applies from 2051 onwards.
