Tuk tuk drivers’ street fight goes viral, sparking outrage (video)
RayWright replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Would have been informative if the Jurno said when and where this event took place. Another piece of reactionary nonsense. -

Move Forward Party dissolved, leaders banned for 10 years - video
RayWright replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Really sad day for the Thai people who voted for Pita and the MFP. With recent International press stories of Thailand interesting the Tabloid press, this will be picked by the Broadsheets and the Financial press, so funding canal initiatives will take a Western downturn. With Srettha's fate to be announced within the next 3 weeks, Thailand's International political stability will take a further nosedive. -
Does TV sci-fi and Sci-Fi Novels Show a glimpse of things to come?

It's the Grebulons out on the 10th planet, Persephone, AKA Rupert (named after the pet parrot of the Astrologer who found it) that we should be worried about. Their Death Beam could wipe out all instances of Earth across all Dimensions. -
Thai hotels face 111 million baht loss after FTI Group collapse

Surely any well respected and managed business would have Business Interuption Insurance. Ah, forgot. Insurance in Thailand is seen as gambling, which is of course; illegal. -

Passengers trapped on ‘sauna’ jet on London to Bangkok flight (video)

Agree Thai Airways could have handled the Customer Experience better. But what gets me, LHR is allegedly an International Airport, so surely there should be some maintenance staff as well as all the other services working round the clock, Check-In staff, Air Traffic Control, Baggage Handlers, Catering, Fire and other Emergency Services etc to support the after 21:00 flights, or what ever time they clock off. What would happen if the AirCon failed whilst Taxiing, close the airport! Typical Woke / Broke UK. -

Traditional 'Snail Mail' takes 7+ weeks to arrive from UK. You've got a few weeks to go yet. -

REM, Everybody Hurts.

Simple Minds, Belfast Child. In fact this is Simple Minds only true No. 1 hit in the UK. The more popular "Don't you forget about me", used in John Hughes's 1985 "Breakfast Club" movie, was actually written for the movie by Steve Forsey and Steve Schiff (ex Nina Hagen Band) and originally proposed to Brian Ferry, who turned it down.

Big fan, ever since Croydon Fairfield Halls in September 1973. As a spotty teenage I was hooked as soon as Stacia came on stage! Met Nik Turner at Glastonbury 1979, great stage costumes, playing under Nik Turner's Sphynx, they were all dressed as mummy's. Did limit stage movement though. Met Lemmy a few times, absolute diamond geezer.

Not trying to be pedantic, but correct spelling of the Hawkwind track is without the umlaut, so just Motorhead. Track was originally recorded in early 1975 before Lemmy was sacked from Hawkwind due to a drug bust in Canada in May, and became the name of his new band, with the umlaut that started gigging in July that year. Was originally released as a B-side to Hawkwind's Kings of Speed in March 1975. With the success of Motörhead (the band), Dave Brock of Hawkind re-mixed it and recorded a new vocal, releasing the single Motorhead in 1981 to take advantage of their ex Bass Player's success. Motörhead re-recorded it in 1977 for their debut album and released it as a single. Which failed to chart. However, the live version they released in 1981 to counter Dave Brock's Hawkwind version got to No. 6 in the charts.

If that's the picture of the actual scoffing snake, where's the 3 lumps in its body. Unless they were 3 "prized" chick's? -
Can't really tell from the long video in terms of side extraction, but the 14 pairs of jet fans along the length of the 5.4km tunnel seem inadequate, plus they look more like fire dispersal jet fans than ventilation fans, so not in regular action moving longitudinally the air and dust or train exhaust gases. Me thinks the fact that non sealed trains are used on that line has been overlooked! Clearing the dust will require a team of "Fluffers", as they do nightly across the Underground in London.

Yes, but what type of Gordon's. In the UK we get Gordon's in the green bottle, which now (last 10 years or so) is gone slightly oily. Luckily out here we get Gordon's yellow, ie the export stuff in the yellow labelled bottle. Much better. However, the magic is in the mixer, which with Schweppes (originally from Genova in Italy, and now owned by Coke-Cola, so not technically British) turns it into a slightly sweet drink. If you can, use Fever Tree as no artificial sweetners used. Much more refreshing. And it's British.

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
RayWright replied to Rimmer's topic in Entertainment
Was the same, however read an interview with Aussie first time Director Mark Molloy who said he was making an action film with no CGI. Which being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer would have been a change for him as well. Having watched it, it works, the helicopter scene flying through LA and Beverly Hills is all action. Has maintained the 80's look and feel. All 3 of the original leads have put on weight, hey it's 40 years since the original, we all age. Much better than BHC3. Plenty on in-jokes referencing the previous movies. Give it 6/10. Trust me.
