  1. You sound like a russian propaganda-troll.. So, you are saying that when Russia, being the aggressor, invades a sovereign nation.. what the victim of said aggression must do is to yield to the invader and vacate their own country..?
  2. Agreed that debt is too high, but that has been a problem for decades. It did not start when Putin invaded Ukraine. One can't just close down and stop functioning as a nation because of high debt.. US debt-to-GDP-ratio is still lower than countries like Japan, Singapore and Italy. Federal spending was up every year of Trump's term and has been down every year of Biden's term. fiscaldata.treasury.gov/americas-finance-guide/federal-spending/ Trump’s tax cuts in 2017, estimated to cost $1.9tn over a decade, was a handout to the rich and corporations at the expense of working families. In fact U.S. billionaires got $1 trillion richer during trump’s term. At the same time, also under Trump, the national debt grew by 39.1% Trump has already proven, beyond any doubt, that he is NOT the guy to solve any of these problems. In fact, the opposite is true.
  3. There's no contradiction between helping Americas friends and allies, now fighting our common enemy, and helping veterans at home. Both can and must be done. Many veterans are in dire need, and many because of physical and mental illness (PTSD). Now take a look at who are the most eager at defunding US healthcare and social security..(?) (Spoiler; it's NOT Biden)
  4. To any Americans opposed to aiding Ukraine. Over 6000 Ukrainians performed military service in Iraq and Kuwait during the Iraq-war, including a permanent presence of 1,600, and 18 Ukrainians were killed. Ukraine further aided the US by sending troops to Afghanistan, and was a patricipant in 'Operation Enduring Freedom'. The very least the US could do in return for their sacrifice is to send them the aid, equipment, and munitions they need, as they are fighting for their survival. Trump (and other maga-republicans) may have a habit of throwing their friends and allies under the bus, but that's NOT what America stands for.
  5. Sounds almost too good to be true.. but if they (hopefully) succeed with at least parts of their goal it could save millions of people with already weak immune-systems. To all anti-vaxxers, I suggest you read up on how they successfully fought the scourge of polio (spoiler; it was a vaccine..).
  6. A harrowing story of human greed and depravity. A 10 year old girl dead, and for what, a land concession..? RIP little girl.
  7. Wrong. Income tax (which many rural folks also pay) is not the only form of taxation in Thailand. There is also VAT, petrol tax, corporate taxes, airport taxes, car tax, land and building taxes, etc. In fact, everbody in Thailand, including tourists and expats pay some form of tax...
  8. This will get dropped like a bad habit as soon as Pheu Thais' (mostly rural) voters understand that their tax-money will go towards paying for the Bangkokians travels..
  9. An easy walk in the park, and a second term for Biden. Trumps appeal is mainly with angry white male racists, hicks and incels, and there just aren't enough of them...
  10. Songkran in Thailand, you have to expect the unexpected when it comes to water-splashing incidents.. That should be perfectly clear to anyone living here. Khun Song apologised and even bought the man a new cup of coffee. That should have been the end of it.
  11. Ignorance is bliss.. I'm talking about industrial scale production here, I thought I made that perfectly clear. As for the ice factory, you don't seem to understand the havoc a large tank of ammonia can unleash upon unsuspecting people in its vicinity when things go wrong. But sure tough-guy.. feel free to inhale a significant amount of ammonia-gas and see what it does to you, and report back here if you survive... 'Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes immediate burning of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract and can result in blindness, lung damage or death.' -Department of Health'
  12. To anyone not seeing the problem here. Imagine if somebody rented or borrowed your car, and they proceeded to do exactly this, getting salty sand mixed with seawater into every nook and cranny of your vehicle.. Also the legality of joyriding on a beach in Thailand is in question, with people getting fined for it in the past. Additionally, for anyone born with any compassion at all for animals, turtles lay their eggs on beaches, and it is the habitat of marine life and several types of birds. Finally, it just shows bad judgement, and a lack of consideration for other beachgoers...
  13. The regulation (or lack thereof) of indistrial zones and safety in Thailand is a serious and constant risk to public safety. I wouldn't want to live within a 100km of any chemical or petrochemical plant here..
  14. You have to make sure to leave Thailand with a re-entry permit, to keep your visa valid. In other words, you have to buy the permit BEFORE you leave Thailand. A re-entry permit can be applied from a Thai Immigration office or at the Re-entry permit airport counters in Thailand upon departure.
  15. Brazen?, yes. Bold?, sure. Sophisticated? Not so much.. unless shoplifting is 'sophisticated' in the eyes of the writer, of course.
  16. Never been an expat in Cambodia, but have travelled it extensively, and I believe you. Saw some really weird stuff there.. Could be an overflow from Thailand, some probably attracted to the cheaper alcohol, and as you said, some no longer able to qualify for an extended stay in Thailand..
  17. ITV, which ran a television station, ceased operations in 2007 and was delisted from the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 2014. Pita (and his fellow heirs) inherited the shares in the defunct company from his father. Pita eventually moved on to transfer his shares to the other heirs, and now holds no share in the (defunct) company.
  18. I wonder what it is about Thailand that attracts deranged lunatics on such a scale? I've been an expat in five countries now. None of those places came even close to Thailand in that department (although Bali gets an 'honorable' mention for it's everdrunk bogans and a few crazed russian and indian nationals..)
  19. You mean the case that was dismissed, regarding the long defunct, no longer existing media company, where he used to be a shareholder..? Well, you know, when they want to get rid of someone, they just keep digging and digging until they find any technicality they can use against you, don't they? Strange that PM Srettha was not exposed to the same scrutiny...
  20. Pita is competent, compassionate, and intelligent. Probably the best prospective leader Thailand has ever had. I truly hope he will surive long enough, politically and otherwise, to see his hopes and dreams for this country come true.
  21. Any Myanmar nationals on the island better get out asap.
  22. 'get along, trade, seek common ground as fellow humans.' Care to comment on this then? 2014-2022 – Russian-Ukrainian war 2015-2022 – Russian intervention in Syria 2008 – Russian-Georgian war 1999-2009 – second Russian-Chechen war 1994-1996 – first Russian-Chechen war 1992-1993 – Russia occupies Transnistria etc...
  23. And your rationale for that is what exactly?
