Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?
Jimjim1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
PRINCIPAL ! we all spend big money in the country in my case 150,000 baht just in hotel and travel costs per month and that should be enough. Yes you are correct 300 baht is nothing, but the Principal is enormous when you consider double charging and the myriad additional scams we constantly have to be aware of, making it very easy to believe they really don’t want us -
Covid-19 Could Become Endemic in 2022, Says DDC
Jimjim1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Absolutely NOTHING to do with containment, everything to do with Omicron being a weaker strain and vaccination. ( scientific fact ) but of course you will not accept that. -
Sadly throughout all of this I am sure that just as I have, many of you have done all we can to placate the Thai authorities ( I use that word reservedly) with vaccine compliance plus a booster jab, plus in my case a flu vaccine jab so that we can come to see our respective Gfs, wives, children etc etc yet we are still refused entry unless we go to a very expensive quarantine hotel for 15 nights. We can only conclude that this is because of a lack of understanding of Omicron or the inability to confront Omicron for what it is, the road to herd immunity without the consummate danger of Delta, ( and before the nay sayers have a go this is a published fact by scientists around the world ). For myself I have for the last 18 months been a volunteer participant in the Oxford university scientific research program wherein both blood and swab tests are taken every month to trace Covid infections across the nation and to test the AZ vaccine’s efficacy. I have all of these results showing my blood to be full of antibodies against Covid infection but still I am denied. And on top of that when I can come it appears that I will be forced to commit an illegal act by buying two insurance policies for the same thing, Just how many more hoops do we have to confront in order that we may spend time with our loved one’s? Is it too much to ask that a little common sense begins to show through sometimes, There are no Covid related restrictions on Thais coming to the U.K. so is’nt it time for reciprocal action now?

The Mexican authorities test the population and publish the results and I have no doubt that they are telling the truth. -
COVID Insurance Arranged for Visitors upon Arrival
Jimjim1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I know where you are coming from but surely the purchaser should determine with his/her insurance company that situations such as this are covered, I did with my company and now I have a letter stating precisely that. We are all here reading about the scams perpetrated against us so we should all be looking ahead -
But I pay £80 per year for travel health insurance with £10,000,000 worth of cover to protect the Thai economy and health system so why should I have to pay again and for something I will never use, because I never travel without health insurance. what is it that forces the Thais to rip off people who want to come to Thailand and spend loads of money? will they ever learn to be fair?

SURVEY: Will Omicron be the end of Covid misery?
Jimjim1 replied to Scott's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Absolutely correct but sadly the lack of a credible vaccine program in many countries and the unreasonable excuses of the low intellect, scared of the needle antivaxxers are holding up beating this virus. Before the antivaxxers on this site puff up their stuffed shirts just remember the official fact that across the world more than 50% of current hospital bed wasters are the unvaccinated. -
African tourists can apply for “Thailand Pass” under “sandbox” program
Jimjim1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes and Omicron has spread right through Africa now and they are showing strong natural immunity, maybe that's why. Herd immunity gained from the very weak omicron variant but no one is listening in the government so they just continue to bark up the wrong tree every minute of the day. -
I agree with you and also point out that the government is missing a very big point in all of this, It was proven shortly after the first case of Covid19 that it can survive for several days on cardboard and even longer on stainless steel, yet millions of boxes are imported into Thailand every week from the land of the Covid invention which is now largely under severe lockdown whilst continuing to manufacture, package and export in cardboard boxes to every country around the world. Doesn’t take much to understand where the main infections are coming from and it is NOT entirely down to tourists so isn’t it time to stop blaming and restricting us? we get a test before we get on the plane and we get a test when we get off it, that should be more than enough.

Tourism Ministry Launches ‘Thailand Trusted Destination’ Campaign

lucky you, I had to change my underwear, I was laughing so much -
Don’t blame the abacus, that was the single thing that shaped the world of trade until the calculator and computer came along. The abacus does not lie only the user can do that but computers are a different animal. A computer spreadsheet can tell you anything you want it to, and now that it has come full circle they don’t like it up ‘em sir, they don’t like it up ‘em.

Brit, 82, arrested in Nong Khai on child sex abuse charges
Jimjim1 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
It has been several hundred years since the Brits ( poms ) first came to Australia and subsequent generations have become wholly Australian and in turn learned their perverted “ Sick “ ways in Australia. so leave the Poms out of it. Yes we have sicko’s in the U.K. but so does every nation across the world and they are ALL entirely home grown -
Correct and across the world the scientific and medical evidence is that those who are hospitalised are the unvaccinated, sadly the irresponsible antivaxers will not accept this evidence and continue to believe the conspiracy theorists and the fake news merchants, so to those people, if you catch it please don’t overload medical staff in hospitals demanding medication and oxygen because you do not deserve it

Jimjim1 replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
If he is guilty and serves a term however long, THANKFULLY when he is released and deported back to the U.K. he will serve a further term and if he lives long enough to be released his everyday activity will be monitored by an ankle bracelet and daily reporting to the police, but this is still not enough, methinks he should be fitted into a concrete box and floated down the Mekong with just enough air for 24 hours. -

Screws found in 2 of my tyres. Should I replace all 4?
Jimjim1 replied to davidst01's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
You are correct about the legal limit in the U.K. being 1.6mm however all of the motoring organisations and other EXPERTS agree that 2mm should mean the end of tyre life for safety. It has been shown that as tyres wear down they begin to lose traction and breaking ability they can also cause the car to aquaplane in wet conditions Tyres usually begin life at 8mm and even you must agree that when 75% of the tyre is gone at 2mm one is in the realm of danger, and that was the only point I was trying to make. Now for the “ doom and gloom “ Having re read my post I can see where you are coming from, and it was caused by predictive text and I missed it, my post should have read “ it’s A choice and not YOUR choice, however a little latitude and understanding on your part instead of unnecessary reaction would have been better, after all many posters have this little problem in there replies and miss some text in the same way as I did but do not turn it off because predictive text can also be helpful, thankfully most of us are intelligent enough to realise this. Regarding others having said the same as me, to them I apologise if indeed I did, my reply was given on the first page after reading the initial post, I did not and have not read any other replies. Finally out of respect for every other road user and pedestrian I know at what point I will change my tyres and it is not at 1.6 or 2mm tread depth, and as a result I will not enter into any further discussion on the matter. Merry Christmas -
Screws found in 2 of my tyres. Should I replace all 4?
Jimjim1 replied to davidst01's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Pray tell, at what point did I go into “ doom and gloom “? my reply was entirely based on available technology relating to safe tread depth of tyres, nothing more than that. Maybe you are just a reactionary
