  1. You can't know that. Maybe that's exactly what the majority of sane Americans want.
  2. Hub of ineptitudosity. I've got a spreadsheet with all my (and wifey's) bank accounts that are kept updated with all transactions. (Except for accounts with ATM cards and her spending account with multitudinous transactions.) Interest deposits are entered, tax withholding is entered, transfers in/out are entered. When I asked for the withholding statement(s), I had all bank books on hand. I checked the statement against my records, and only the fixed account withholding was included. Clerk told that's all they can provide. Going back to my 2017 return file........My refund check matches exactly the total of my fixed account and dividend withholding. Savings account withholding was not refunded. I don't remember why. Either savings withholding wasn't included in 2017 statements, or it could be that my savings account was at the Silom branch, and the Ramkhamhaeng branch where I had my fixed account and where I got the statement could not access those records. If that was the case, it wasn't worth a trip to Silom to get a withholding statement for a refund for less than the round-trip transport fare.
  3. Put 'em in a plastic bag, set 'em out front of your house. They'll be gone in twenny minutes.
  4. Starting a new thread as this has some new information. I decided months ago to start filing Thai tax returns online, get a baseline history with TRD, and have several years of filed returns. Got my pink ID card number activated, then was able to file online returns for tax years 2021, 2022 and 2023. All filed late, but accepted by the system. No documentation was required for any of the returns when filed. There was a late filing fee of 200 baht for the 2023 return, but no late fee for the others. I know not why not. Within a couple weeks, I got a letter with my 2023 refund of interest and dividend withholding. Full refund of all taxes withheld. Letter offered PromptPay, but bank account must be set up and linked to pink ID. MY Bangkok Bank branch will not let me add pink ID number to existing accounts. Thusly opened a Krungthai account (using pink ID and ol' yeller) for tax refunds. About a month later, received two letters from the tax office requesting tax withholding statements for 2021 and 2022, but NOT 2023. That tells me TRD online processing system must have access to current year records only. I got a single tax withholding statement from Bangkok Bank covering both years, but ONLY for my fixed accounts. Bank would not include taxes withheld from savings accounts. I submitted this statement online as supplementary documentation for the 2022 return, but there was no option to add documents for 2021. I did not submit dividend statements showing taxes withheld. I waited, nothing changed, I forgot about it. Today I received two envelopes from TRD with refund letters for 2021 and 2022. Amounts were less than the totals I had claimed, as the dividend and savings account amounts were disallowed. Fixed account withholding was refunded in full.
  5. AFAIK this still falls under self-assessment, there is no 'registration' of the gift. Can you provide a link detailing this? I've been looking at annual gifts to my wife and there doesn't appear to be requirement for documentation, unless going over either the US or Thai taxation thresholds, at which point tax on the overage will be due.
  6. Correct. Then it becomes Thai income.
  7. You would have to read TRD regulations and your DTA. TRD does not recognize, for 'zample, deductions and allowances granted under IRS rules........unless spelled out in the Thai-US DTA. Per IRS rules, capital losses can offset capital gains. Thailand does not allow this. You made a $50K profit selling one stock, and sold another at a $50K loss for zero tax liability in the US. Bring the proceeds into Thailand, and you potentially owe tax, depending on how you can determine which pot of funds that transfer came from. If Thailand switches to worldwide income taxation, it won't matter. "All you gains berong us!"
  8. No felonies, but I had a moving violation in 1981 ($30 fine), and a parking ticket in 1985 ($5).
  9. Not only did she steal all his ideas on the campaign trail........ "Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey, hey, hey, goodbye"
  10. Eisenhower? Wasn't that the regime that deployed nukular missiles to Turkey? That was a fun time. Let's hope Trump doesn't do anything Irish, and try anything really dangerous, like delivering long-range missiles to a nazi apartheid regime and give them permission to hit the soviets on their own territory. That, shirley, would end well!
  11. What's your point? I still adds up to winning the election. That's what matters in't?
  12. Less likely to cough if breathing through your nose (filtered) or through a cloth (filtered)? Something suspended in the air. Possibly dust or pollution. Could be a specific type of wood/coal/vegetation that is burned. Could be an additive to gasoline used in Myanmar. Most likely IMO is a pollen specific to flowers/trees in that area.
  13. Should be surge in lottery ticket purchases in the south, considering this might could be the return of the hidden imam.
  14. Boy, that Putin is a dummy! He could hire North Korean mercenaries for $500 and a stack of used Playboy magazines. Makes me wonder if this is real news, or just more Moskau "golden showers."
  15. I'm sad and jealous? Tis not I calling a billionaire and two-time winner of a US presidential election a dummy. No, I'm quite enjoying the show!
  16. Remind me again how many $billions that bid'ness perfessor has, and how many times he's been elected "leader of the free world."
  17. How many aircraft carriers docked in Keeeve?
  18. That's the same thing I used to say! Well, back when I couldn't afford one...................

  20. Those folks will likely be unaffected by the recent change in interpretation of the current law, or by the proposed changes.
  21. Tank factories, weapons depots, hydrothermal plants, ports, airstrips, bunkers, railyards,..............these are not particularly mobile.
  22. They aren't worried. Targets would be tank factories in Germany, and staging depots for wonder waffles in Poland.
  23. Harley's are cool. Some cool people ride them!
  24. 4 million baht is a measly US$115,000. IRS standard deduction and 0% bracket for LTCG for a couple filing joint would be approximately $120,000, with a tax due the IRS of $0. I'm filing single, so I'm allowed $60,000 tax-free in the US, which would be fully assessable in Thailand under worldwide taxation, regardless of remittance.
  25. That just makes you look foolish. It's the same as a Harris supporter riding past tourists in MAGA hats, yelling "unburdened by burdens of what have been burdened!" as he speeds past.
