To follow up for posterity, I ended up using DHL.  Once I received the tracking number, I signed up for shipment notifications with my phone and email address.  When the package arrived in Bangkok, I received a link with the customs fees which were about 10% of the declared value, so it's possible they increased the declared value and that was 7% of their calculation.  I didn't receive any breakdown of the calculation, just a flat fee I needed to pay.

I used the link and paid the fee, and the package was delivered the same day to my condo.

I think as @BMW Overlander mentioned, DHL has in-house customs, which I think did help smooth the process.  The duties weren't too outrageous either.

    How much?

Retain a reputable Int’l Law Firm and grant them “Power of Attorney” for such issues.

I have an American neighbor from Hawaii who sadly came down with Parkinson’s Disease about 10 years ago. He remains inside his home, unable to leave, except for occasional trips to the hospital in the back of an ambulance. He has “Care Givers” looking after him 24/7.

All Immigration / legal issues are taken care of for him by the lawyers in the Law Firm he retained.

Be aware that granting the same rights to friends, or wives could be dangerous for both you and your assets. Trust no one….

    What are "Care Givers" ?

Foreign fighters: Russia has deployed between 10,000 and 20,000 foreign fighters from Syria and Libya into the Donbas region in addition to Wagner Group mercenaries. All of them will fight as infantry, the official said, as they don’t operate heavy weapons.

These foreign fighters, Wagner Group and Chechens should all be declared mercenaries and, if caught, court-martialed and executed by firing squad. No rights under the Geneva Convention.

Britain's most powerful nuclear submarine arrives in Gibraltar hours after Putin's threat

BRITAIN's most powerful nuclear submarine has arrived in Gibraltar just hours after Russian president Vladimir Putin issued a threat against the West. HMS Audacious is one of the UK’s newest submarines and is considered one of the world’s most deadly underwater vehicles. The Astute class vessel is a hunter-killer submarine used for attacking and sinking other subs and surface ships with its torpedoes and is capable of attacking land targets with its Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Audacious is capable of striking targets up to 1,200km from the coast with pinpoint accuracy.

Russia is already in breach of the Geneva conventions of which it is a signatory:

    - attacks on civilians

    - attacks on civilian infrastructures

    - forced deportations

    - torture

    - executions

    - looting / pillage

    - rapes

    - banned ammunitions: cluster, vacuum, thermobaric

the list of breaches by Russian troops is long, very long

So your recommendation to the Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol is 'no surrender'?

Right. The army that engaged in mass executions of civilians in violation of the Geneva Convention is definitely going to respect the Geneva Convention when it comes to prisoners of war.

    I was waiting for that.

If Russia doesn't adhere to the Geneva Convention with regard to Ukrainian prisoners of war then they cannot expect Ukraine to treat Russian prisoners in accordance with the Geneva Convention.
