To follow up for posterity, I ended up using DHL. Once I received the tracking number, I signed up for shipment notifications with my phone and email address. When the package arrived in Bangkok, I received a link with the customs fees which were about 10% of the declared value, so it's possible they increased the declared value and that was 7% of their calculation. I didn't receive any breakdown of the calculation, just a flat fee I needed to pay.
I used the link and paid the fee, and the package was delivered the same day to my condo.
I think as @BMW Overlander mentioned, DHL has in-house customs, which I think did help smooth the process. The duties weren't too outrageous either.
How much?

Retain a reputable Int’l Law Firm and grant them “Power of Attorney” for such issues.
I have an American neighbor from Hawaii who sadly came down with Parkinson’s Disease about 10 years ago. He remains inside his home, unable to leave, except for occasional trips to the hospital in the back of an ambulance. He has “Care Givers” looking after him 24/7.
All Immigration / legal issues are taken care of for him by the lawyers in the Law Firm he retained.
Be aware that granting the same rights to friends, or wives could be dangerous for both you and your assets. Trust no one….
What are "Care Givers" ?

Xi delivers devastating blow to Putin as China pulls plug on sanctions-busting deal
XI JINPING has delivered a devastating blow to Vladimir Putin and the Russian economy, after pulling the plug on a sanctions-busting deal.
The Kremlin had hoped to strike a deal with China's UnionPay system as an alternative to Visa and MC and to get around the ban.
However, UnionPay yesterday unexpectedly pulled out of talks with Sberbank and other Russian financial institutions on the West's economic black list.

Open a bank account pronto! Try Kasikornbank or SCB as well. Can't believe you have spent all these years without a Thai bank account.
If you can't do it yourself, I believe some Agents offer the service.
PS' Why does it have to be Bangkok Bank?? I am mystified!

Putin in humiliating U-Turn as troops told to ABANDON storming key plant after resistance
VLADIMIR PUTIN has performed a humiliating U-turn, ordering his troops to abandon plans to storm a key plant after they faced tough resistance.
Russian troops had previously been ordered to storm the Azovstal plant in the strategically important Ukrainian port city of Mariupol. The fall of the city into Russian hands appeared just last week to be imminent.

So, the question that should be on your mind in choosing a school should be, "What evidence is there that any Westerners who have studied here have succeeded?"
Are there any language schools which can provide that evidence?

9 hours ago, tgw said:well, yes, they are mercenaries (all of them) in English language by the meaning of the word, i.e. hired soldiers, but mercenary is also a legal status defined by the UN, as well as by other countries which may or may not have the same definition as the UN, which means that some members of Wagner wouldn't be considered mercenaries if they are Russian or if their place of residence is Russia.
However, as Russia has not declared war on Ukraine, these 'mercenaries' should be considered terrorists instead. ????

Foreign fighters: Russia has deployed between 10,000 and 20,000 foreign fighters from Syria and Libya into the Donbas region in addition to Wagner Group mercenaries. All of them will fight as infantry, the official said, as they don’t operate heavy weapons.
These foreign fighters, Wagner Group and Chechens should all be declared mercenaries and, if caught, court-martialed and executed by firing squad. No rights under the Geneva Convention.

Can Russia continue to sustain the destruction of its military? Every ship in the Black Sea is at risk and new and deadlier weapons are going to Ukraine. Sort of violating the Geneva convention, Russia doesn't have too many options left for victory.
Need to get a hunter killer, nuclear submarine into the Black Sea and wipe the Russian fleet out.

Ukraine to 'leave Russian pilots quaking' with new British missile launchers
UKRAINE will "leave Russian pilots quaking" thanks to new armoured missile launchers supplied by Britain.
The Stormer launchers can fire out 17 Starstreak missiles to unleash hell on low-flying jets and helicopters. The 13-tonne weapons can be loaded onto C-17 transport planes and flown to the war in days. They only require a crew of three and will allow the Ukrainian army to advance at 50mph, unleash hell, and then quickly manoeuvre away.

UK's show of force to Putin - photos show missiles being loaded onto Navy sub in Gibraltar
NEW PHOTOS show missiles being loaded onto HMS Audacious, Britain's most powerful nuclear submarine.
The attack submarine is currently docked in Gibraltar, having arrived there on Saturday afternoon. It is one of the Royal Navy's Astute-Class powered submarines, which are among the most sophisticated underwater vehicles ever constructed. The new submarines are gradually replacing those of the Trafalgar-Class, which have been in service for almost four decades.

Britain's most powerful nuclear submarine arrives in Gibraltar hours after Putin's threat
BRITAIN's most powerful nuclear submarine has arrived in Gibraltar just hours after Russian president Vladimir Putin issued a threat against the West. HMS Audacious is one of the UK’s newest submarines and is considered one of the world’s most deadly underwater vehicles. The Astute class vessel is a hunter-killer submarine used for attacking and sinking other subs and surface ships with its torpedoes and is capable of attacking land targets with its Tomahawk cruise missiles.
Audacious is capable of striking targets up to 1,200km from the coast with pinpoint accuracy.
Hmmm, needs to move a little closer....

Russia and China nightmare as UK scientists analyse secrets of Putin's prized fighter jet
BRITISH and American scientists are analysing the secret long-range targeting mechanism of Russia's most advanced fighter jet, sources confirmed last night.
And their findings could make a "huge difference" in how the West conducts air-to-air combat with both Russia and China. Ukrainian troops shot down the Sukhoi Su-35S using short-range missiles two weeks ago.

Russia is already in breach of the Geneva conventions of which it is a signatory:
- attacks on civilians
- attacks on civilian infrastructures
- forced deportations
- torture
- executions
- looting / pillage
- rapes
- banned ammunitions: cluster, vacuum, thermobaric
the list of breaches by Russian troops is long, very long
So your recommendation to the Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol is 'no surrender'?

Right. The army that engaged in mass executions of civilians in violation of the Geneva Convention is definitely going to respect the Geneva Convention when it comes to prisoners of war.
I was waiting for that.
If Russia doesn't adhere to the Geneva Convention with regard to Ukrainian prisoners of war then they cannot expect Ukraine to treat Russian prisoners in accordance with the Geneva Convention.
