    I'm aware of that, my point is that you state: "98% of the country is largely westerner-free, which proves that Thais are getting by just fine on their own." I have suggested 2 departments ( of many i'm sure ), do you thinking these are getting by just fine?

    It's coz of stupid things like this i go to Savanakhett once a year to renew non O, can't be bothered dealing with the immigration cretins and all their stupid requests.

    A whole lot of fuss about nothing IMO. Do we really expect the Thai authorities ( whatever dept ) to be able to figure this out and track / enforce it? Personally i'm not worried.
