  1. The OP should see if there's a government hospital nearer Kalasin that can do the whole abdomen ultrasound. If not, then get it done at Srinagarind, the Khon Kaen university teaching hospital. Rather than faff about with the obviously inefficient and expensive Bangkok Hospital there with their preconceived notion that you need a CT scan, see if the Sringarind's ultrasound diagnosis requires CT scan investigation.
  2. Excellent, thanks. Anything being circulated at the moment on what PT will do is pure speculation, largely based on disinformation. This is akin to the speculation that came from the repeated misinformation that MFP were all about abolishing lese majeste laws rather than the more moderate and infinitely more practical (and constitutional) act of introducing legislation for debate with a view to modifying that law. Loads of axes being ground at the moment and as far as I can see, not a single party is bereft of this. Forgiveness here seems to be something offered once the upper hand has been achieved rather than something for the basis of agreement and consensus building. Maybe the idea of how a coalition government works has been corrupted in Thailand due to the serially poor performance of previous, fractious coalitions? Keeping them divided continues to play well for the incumbents. Always has. When an outright democratically elected majority does take the day, well... we know how that plays out. The end result will be a fractious government of minorities with an equally fractious minority opposition as they each chose to sit on their hands/fence depending on what's for dinner.
  3. Who's Jim? Despite the enlightenment of "the young and educated", the army (still) has all the toys. MFP (and their next iteration) is a bust. It will take another generation or two before this starts to wash out abut by then, there will be much larger, global fish to fry.
  4. There is about 112 reasons why much can’t be said. Again, an ounce of knowledge about Thailand and a bit of common sense is all that is needed. The institution you allude to hasn't been "terminally weakened." I think my two score and four years in the 'enchanted kingdom' that includes an eighteen year marriage and a couple of kids counts for a fair bit more than an ounce. We don't know each other so there's no need for either of us to worry about the others common sense. Kudos for your shiny new enthusiasm though. You would probably excel at a sport or something?
  5. Most 'name brand' rubber is manufactured under license in Thailand, same-same name brand car batteries. Yokohama's are made in Pluak Daeng and Michelin Siam's plant is over in Laem Chabang, both in Chonburi province (near the car factories).
  6. The fact that Pattaya is far removed from any earthquake zones means that buildings don't need to be built to the same standard as (say) Japan. 2 out of 10 Must try harder
  7. Proof that the young uns shouldn't leave home without their nana more like.
  8. No, only common sense required. So you won't (can't) name these institutions or explain how they've been "terminally weakened." That's fine.
  9. Impossible? When the ruckus gets all a bit too wild whereupon the army steps in and makes their stooge PT government declare a special state of emergency that handily scuttles the plan to seat a new Senate? BTW, who's writing this new constitution?
  10. Why not? OK, maybe not yet? They've haven't gotten used to not having the fatherly hand-holding of IX yet, so it needs at least one more generation to work out for themselves why they don't really need to put up with this medieval crap.
  11. Let's not allow the US's unsteady march towards their sort of democracy be any sort of template that Thailand should adhere to. Beyond the bit where they kicked out their colonial overlords I mean.
  12. Sorry, I don't really care that much. Yes, only three posts, just window shopping.
  13. But the MFP are not suggesting "a change to the royalty."
  14. Sounds like the Prawit Plan to me. Let the young and the guileless do all the heavy lifting, then wander in and assume the position just before nap time.
  15. Each citizen who voted for a candidate from each one of the coalition parties voted for the same thing: change from the loyalist, royalist, military hegemony. The post-election coalition, by the definition of it's own mandate, is still a collective call for that change. No need to go back to the polls. None whatsoever.
  16. Inexperience and overconfidence didn't do Tony Blair any harm did it?
  17. My apologies that I omitted death under care in a hospital scenario which is the preferred method for foreigners to expire here. My neighbor who has aggressive terminal brain cancer has recently been discharged from palliative care at the local hospital to die at home. His wife, their lawyer and the medical professionals have made the necessary legal arrangements for this to happen without the need for local police involvement.
  18. Correct. I recall the mother of the actress that fell off a speedboat and drowned in the Chao Phaya wanted to get the esteemed Senator Kunying Pornthip (her of the fake bomb detector approval) to do another autopsy. Not sure if the rels of the deceased lad in question would want another questionable autopsy done here.
  19. Only two full days have passed since he died, how quickly do you think a postmortem can be arranged, performed and a cause of death established? Thai law says any death of a foreigner must be investigated and an autopsy carried out, not necessarily just the 'suspicious' ones. Recalling previous events and 'mysteries', the autopsy will be done at some police hospital down Surat Thani way. There's nothing to stop a second autopsy being carried out on the repatriation of the lad's body. I recall that this is also the case in the UK where a Coroner's inquest is performed. Unfortunately, the findings are diminished by the time elapsed since the death and there may also be difficulties getting the original autopsy report.
  20. With that sort of cash, they can repatriate their lad's body AND pay the cops to find out what happened. It will probably not be what happened mind you.
  21. Totally agree, just watch Pheu Thai's "devil may care" attitude once they secure the premiership. ...or Prawit's.
  22. No, because Jakkrit's iTV share holdings are, like your girlfriend, different.
  23. You mean the senatorial component of any vote should be prorated? Makes all sorts of sense but probably because isn't specifically stated in the current (or any) Constitution, it doesn't matter. Even if it was, all you would probably get is more abstentions. Turkeys don't vote for Christmas.
  24. Where? I don't see anything in forum tech support.
