  1. The BB app went tits up on Saturday evening so I went online with the laptop and used their Bua Luang program instead. No big deal.
  2. You forgot the "mai-mee wifi", get the store wi-fi from the cashier, get the password, type it wrong... twice... low-battery... shut-down... trek to ATM for cash...
  3. That yachting on Nong Han Lake isn't going to be a practical or sustainable tourist attraction?
  4. Since it can still bit of a medical mystery and a facet of life "hidden in plain sight" when undiagnosed in western cultures, It's not too much of a stretch to consider that's it's just as prevalent in Thailand where mental healthcare is poor to non-existent. You have a point with drugs though. My former fiancee may have tried or been provided unknowingly with some designer drugs that were prevalent where we lived and worked back in the early 1990's. It was like one summer a switch had been flicked and her manageable manic moments became more interspersed with intense bouts of unmanageable paranoid schizophrenia. Her maternal grandmother was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and eventually ended up in an insane asylum so her mum, although saddened and hurt, wasn't overly surprised. Back on topic: The op does need to enlist both legal and mental health professionals before his situation goes too badly wrong.
  5. Bipolar would be my bet. Maybe a bit of schizophrenia in the mix? My former fiancee was blessed with both in spades. Luckily, her parents stepped up and despite her being an adult and living away from home, they came and took her home and into the care and support she desperately needed but I couldn't provide.
  6. Gotcha, thanks.
  7. OK, thanks for the clarification. I just checked my location for NT service using their online thingmabob (from the link https://wcsoss.totwbs.com/promotion provided earlier) and it says "Sorry, the area you selected is not available yet. The available area is 0.71 km from you." That broadly correlates with the map of coverage for NT Mobile coverage on https://www.nperf.com/en/map/TH/-/3379.TOT-Mobile/signal/?ll=17.405315277086004&lg=102.82005786895753&zoom=15 That ~700 meters suggests that if I'm not in black hole, the signal strength maybe isn't up to supporting Thunder's full capability in a fixed location, no?
  8. I just can't see what all the fuss is about if I want a larger amount than a ATM will give I go in the bank with passport and bank book. I haven't had time to visit the holding branch of my Bangkok Bank account, some 630 km distant so when it came to transferring a larger amount than 50k last week, I used their Bua Luang online (computer/laptop) method.
  9. Out of date. Speed 3 is no longer. Last updated: May 26th, 2023
  10. This looks like it could be handy. For my locale, it shows AIS leads TRUE with DTAC a close third. NT looks like a bit of a black hole. https://www.nperf.com/en/map/TH/-/3379.TOT-Mobile/signal/?ll=13.152388677984096&lg=101.49499999999998&zoom=5
  11. That seems to work for the hi-so's so why not give it a shot?
  12. I did try 4G only but still couldn't pick any bands, says they are not available. Rebooted too, same same, band 28. I'll try the band select a few times and see if it picks up anything. EDit: Yup, that did it thanks. Took longer to search but eventually displayed maybe half-a-dozen band choices.
  13. I have a DTAC already in the MR-600 which is v2. Had a look at the Status and the Band displayed was "40,40". That was with the SIM installed as-is, no previous tweaks. I had a look at the WAN settings and tried the manual band selection, just to see how that works and it said there was none available. Went back to the Status and it now displays band 28. The TP-Link support page says: Note: The band selection is for the 4G network, if the 4G band you selected is not supported by your carrier, it might fall back to the 3G network or no service at all. If the band displayed on the Status page still changes sometimes after you select one band manually, please check if it falls back to WCDMA which is the 3G network, if so, it is normal. If you are sure the 4G signal in the area is strong and stable, you could change the Network Mode from 4G Preferred to 4G only on the Advanced > Network > Internet page. For LTE CAT 4 Routers like TL-MR100, TL-MR6500v, etc., they don’t support carrier aggregation, thus they could only work on one single band even though you selected multiple bands; For LTE CAT6 Router Archer MR600, Carrier Aggregation is supported and enabled by default. For the supported bands and band combinations, please check the specification of the product on our official website. However, whether and how the bands will be aggregated is related to the base station as well, we are unable to force it to work on 4G+ or force it to work on a specific band combination. Therefore, when you select two or more bands, the MR600 might work on only one band as well. If your SIM card supports different band combinations in 4G+ mode, you could also try other supported band combinations. Anyway, it's still displaying 4G (and streaming the Second Test!) but I wonder if the SIM was set on band 40 by default 'out of the box' and it's now irreversibly on band 28 when I tried to select something that DTAC says isn't available.
  14. So tells us your anecdote of an AIS shop offering you a deal not available to the general public. For example, scubascuba’s 10 Mbps for 150 baht per 30 days. What was your offer and which shop/service centre? As the OP, it behooves me to rate the contributors to this thread. @NextG @scottiejohn Note to the mods, as the OP, I have obtained sufficient information so this thread can be shuttered before someone has heart attack.
  15. Yes, the endless holidays that killed my wife's (and other) restaurant businesses BEFORE Covid in 2016 when punters realized that the benevolent leader's added "happiness holidays" meant they were broke at the end of the month and resorted to 7-eleven's TV dinners and the microwave oven. CP's convenience store expansion really kicked-off in 2016/17 and we all know who's really benefiting from that don't we? No, it's not the mom 'n' pop stores either. He was in charge of his government the goon show so thanks for taking time to highlight his litany of other economic failures like talking-up the droves of Chinese tourists that never really showed up... except the criminal ones with loadsamoney to launder... oops, squander. Sheesh...
  16. I would suggest that identity theft plays second fiddle to corruption within Thailand's various government offices. Collectively, they probably have a higher under-the-table GDP than Thailand's state-owned entities. I am quite confident in my belief that had a very significant 'donation' been offered, the top man at the local Land Office would have signed off on everything sight unseen. When it comes to the illicit transfer of chanote's for significant chunks of land, those with the money to cough up 80 million baht and more, probably have the resources to fund a new Merc or two.
  17. Any failure to agree plays straight into the hands of the "Thai people aren't smart/mature enough to know what they want" mantra of successive military-backed (and palace-sanctioned) administrations.
  18. Good point well made. Yes, wait until you have the button before you use the nuclear option.
  19. My bed-ridden and cancer ravaged late father-in-law was also forced to attend the Land Office in-person in order to sign off the transfer of land titles to his daughter, my wife. It was all very undignified for him as by that time he was very weak and incontinent and couldn't be moved to a wheelchair. Our neighbors assisted with a form of bamboo litter chair adapted from a traditional bamboo tien loaded in the back of a pickup. This was manhandled up the steps and through a busy office where chairs and desks had to be moved for better access. The sad faces of the common folk waiting to be served mostly reflected a genuine "there for the grace of Buddha go I" look whereas the genuflecting, waiing and worthless repeated utterances of kaw-thoad of the uniformed staff left me cold.
  20. Good idea. Since I already have data-enabled AIS and DTAC SIMs in other devices, I can check that out. The ZTE MF60 has 3G quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS. Specification: - Data service HSDPA/HSUPA/UMTS 850/1900/2100 MHz - GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz - HSPA+: DL 21.6Mbps, UL 5.76Mbps.
