  1. That's right. You're a nobody. ...gurning.
  2. Personally, I dont wear my Patek Philipe or Richard Mille EVERY day either.
  3. Why don't you tell all of us about your medical conditions first?
  4. Correct. Ignorance and indolence in equal measure.
  5. You'll HATE being denied access to your banking more.
  6. Twice. Now bugger off.
  7. Is neither a Western morality or Thai morality . Some guys take care of their Children and others run away from that responsibility . Both some Thai and Western guys do that . Selfish cowards just want condom free sex and run away the next day when they've achieved their desire Whoa, slow down there Tonto. Our bob has to get it up first.
  8. Go on bob, bar fine them. You know it makes sense.
  9. This based on what? The OP's gurning about his wife being a bad mother due to what he bizarrely perceives as not being compliant with his EU expectations? While he professes to being too tired to fulfil any of these duties she allegedly doesn't, I see the OP as not being too serious about the role of a father to the children in the EU. Maybe it's the EU thing?
  10. @Mike Lister was relating his experience while selling a car where obtaining a CoR was not a problem. It's the OP who's trying to buy a car and suggests immigration are asking for "many papers" for a CoR who is having a problem.
  11. I thought it was only falangs that could get a yellow book. Correct, but not all Amphur's are farang-freindly while some are just pig-ignorant.
  12. The problem is some immigration offices don't accept the yellow book as proof of where you live. I recall a few threads from a few years back saying that Jomtien didn't accept them and one needed whatever else they thought acceptable, such as a rental agreement if a tenant and something else for condo owners. Maybe it has changed (again). In my experience, the dealership wanted anything and everything that had my face/name/address on it. When they noticed my Thai DL didn't have the same address as the yellow book, I had to get the DL updated and reissued as that was the only Thai document that had my face on it and could link to my passport that has my face but no address in it. Pedants the lot of 'em. They are mostly winging it when a farang wants to buy something.
  13. Just stick with the Maxxis deal. Mrs NL put a new set on her CRV, I recall ~12,000 for all four fitted, balanced , etc.. This was in Pattaya, out the dark side on the Siam Country Club road. But any rubber shop with a big Maxxis sign will cut you a similar deal.
  14. Let us know how that worked out, was it worth it, etc.?
  15. That should work in most instances. The Certificate of Residence would need to be in Thai as the OP will be dealing with a Thai business. The OP says immigration are asking for 'many papers'. If the OP can't provide immigration with acceptable proof of where he lives, maybe that's the first hurdle? Just hope that the OP's chosen dealership isn't pig-ignorant or from the "can't be arsed" brigade. There's a history of some saying 'cannot' because they mistakenly believe that foreigners have no legal means to buy a car in their name OR they just can't be bothered with the marginally extra paperwork that may be involved. If it's in the provinces, a lack of language skills from both parties can be the excuse for them to say no. Good luck.
  16. But the OP's trying to fix it, isn't he? I mean here he is, seeking affirmation from anonymous strangers on a public forum.
  17. Here's the Top Ten Leave Vote Constituencies. Now, who you want to call racist? 1. Boston (East Midlands): 75.6% 2. South Holland (East Midlands): 73.6% 3. Castle Point (East of England): 72.7% 4. Thurrock (East of England): 72.3% 5. Great Yarmouth (East of England): 71.5% 6. Fenland (East of England): 71.4% 7. Mansfield (East Midlands): 70.9% 8. Bolsover (East Midlands): 70.8% 9. East Lindsey (East Midlands): 70.7% 10. North East Lincolnshire (Yorkshire & the Humber): 69.9%
  18. No. But someone will post that you can but they will need to provide details of bank, branch and how long ago. For example, About 16 years ago, I was exchanging £10,000 in crisp new 20's to Baht at Bangkok Bank, Sai 2 in Pattaya, using their forex desk. The girl asked if I was depositing in an account, I said I didn't have one. She asked if I wanted to open one and I said OK. So she asked her supervisor who was busy with another customer. Her supervisor, without looking across, asked what visa I was on. The girl looked in my passport and confirmed that I was on a visa-exempt entry. The supervisor, without looking, said "Cannot." A few minutes later, the supervisor who had dispensed with the other customer, looked across and seeing the pile of pounds, asked the girl how much I was exchanging. After the girl told her, the supervisor, looking at me for the first time, smiled and said, "Can."
  19. Only tried it twice in Singapore. The dark-skinned, splay-toed gogo dancer had no issues getting in. The pale-skinned, sharply dressed businesswoman was knocked back.
  20. A 12-day, old minivan rental in Thailand? Let me Google that and get back with you, OK?
  21. Taxpayers? This is Thailand for goodness sakes. Too funny.
  22. If an app in the app store is geoblocked, connecting via a VPN usually gets around that. For example, if the NatWest app "isn't available in your country", connect via a UK VPN and it will download and install. However, getting around activation may be a chore as the only options when I did it a few years ago was for OTP/SMS to a UK SIM that I had. However, I have noticed that a few banking apps give you the option for an email or (I think) the authenticator apps from Google and MS. Maybe the newer versions of NW and RBS apps allow this? Good luck!
  23. Yes, hypertension is the low-hanging fruit. Since I had no doctor or medical history in Thailand (or anywhere else for that matter), when I made a claim three years ago, they asked for any medical references. I had several offshore medicals at two hospitals in Bangkok over the past 8 to 10 years so I signed the waiver for them to contact and obtain any medical records that they may have on file. They received these and found one instance of Hypertension 1 level blood pressure from a medical in 2016: none before or since. Since their scope is (I believe) 7 years of medical history, they hit me with a 10,000 baht weighting on my premium. I didn't argue at the time. Banding increases I can handle as forewarned is forearmed. Just disappointed to see the banding increase wiped out the NCB. Year-on-year increases haven't been less than 10,000 baht and the last (only) claim (not hypertension related) was a couple of years back.
